We’re Dean & Nala, and we’ve been best friends since December 2018. I was actually cycling around the world when I heard Nala meowing out for me somewhere in the Bosnian mountains. With no intentions of keeping Nala, I knew i had to save the wee kitten and take her to the vet - but I was well aware of the fact that it might be a bit of a challenge considering I only had a bike. However, despite my concerns, Nala quickly climbed out of the front bag on the bike handle and straight onto my shoulder. Since then, we’ve been travelling the world together. So feel free to tag along if you’re interested in following our journey and adventures around the globe ❤️

The van might be the answer. He and Nala can still bike around, but in the van they will be safer, can sleep, she can stretch out and ride, good for hot times and bad weather too. (bike in the back ready when needed)

Did you forget? Dean is a cyclist! Meaning - he loves to ride bikes. Maybe not your preference - but, it's his adventure, and Nala is at the center of it. It isn't anyone else's adventure.
He has spoken a few times of wanting a van, to have the flexibility in bad weather. Doesn’t stop him biking, too. :)
Katherine C I don’t think we forcing him in to anything we are just sharing our thoughts about and I said I always feel something bad might happen on the bike which it hasn’t but he just cares for the both of them and don’t want them to get hurt that’s all and he even said they will siglo have the bike with them so it’s not like in his idea they jut get rid of the bike

In a strange way, little tiny Nala breaks my heart. So trusting. So fragile. So vulnerable. And I am so glad she fell into the hands of this man.
you describe how i feel exactly, but she is strong and in many ways i think Dean needed Nala much more than Nala needed Dean.
I think she's a warrior princess; she's fierce, loving, protective of her human, tiny, resilient, and exceedingly intelligent. Wherever Daddy is will be home for Nala, be it a car, the road, camping, or living under a bridge. She's a lucky girl, Dean is a lucky guy.
That's how I feel about all animals... especially those who are bred as companions ~ then so painfully abused. They are so trusting and humans don't deserve so much devotion, but these creatures give their love so willingly just the same.
@@lauriekrebs4522 I agree with you. Her story isn't heartbreaking at all. It's wonderfully uplifting. I feel terribly sorry for the person who drove her into the middle of nowhere just to abandon her but that's the only sad part of the story.
johnm2012 It is possible she was born in the middle of nowhere, as it is doubtful that a human who cared so little about her would put the work in to travel so far to dump her. So sad for the mom. It is a miracle Dean found her no matter the circumstances. I agree, her story is so uplifting. If a human did dump her in the middle of nowhere hopefully Karma will return the favor.

The dash board has a square shape sinking spot for driver to put things in there. It is a perfect place for the cat to nap or look outside. So, some viewers called it a Nala Holder.

They say there are two types of cats; high cats and low cats (don't know the official designations). High cats like to be in tall places and look down at their world while the low cats tend to be secretive, be on the ground in semi-hidden places to observe. I think Nala is a high cat.
Nala really doesn't get scared of new situations, does she? She's just a super intelligent and confident girl.
To be fair, she keeps seeing new places. Trusting her human completely also seems to help.
This cat is a special creature. She is cool on the bike, has no problems with the new van ....
I bet she would be just as cool and relaxed in an airplane cocpit or parachuting or paragliding. Simply a class of its own.

As long as her big brother is there it must be OK and sh'e knows nothing else in any case. No other kittens to fight for attention. She's IT :-).

@@judithsmith9582 From what I got, it's just a temporary solution, because Dean sprained his ankle, and active biking would just exacerbate his injury. So he needs time to properly heal before he can hit the bike like he used to.

Beautifully spoken. Dean has taken Nala and us on a wonderful adventure. I feel the same. I was born in NJ but live in the mountains of Virginia now with 15 cats.
What a wonderfully laid back cat. On the rare occasions I travel with mine in the car they scream blue murder from start to finish.
I don't know if you use a carrier, but try letting your friend be free range. I've traveled across the US many times with one to three cats and as long as they get to find their own space they're Great!

Hey Dean, im a fellow Scot and have recently discovered your channel. I totally get your connection with Nala. I have chronic fatigue syndrome and Lyme disease and have spent the last 6 years almost totally bed bound. My two Siamese cats are my constant companions and seem to have a rotation system to keep me company. They sense when I am having a bad or good day and even when I have Lyme seizures.
I’m lucky that I’m finally recovering and getting outside more and enjoying life. Keep doing what you are doing as it’s making you happy. Life and health are so precious 💓💓

Amazing to see you driving in comfort, Dean! Nala, is a queen on her Chariot Pillow. Best idea yet, after you were robbed in that remote area awhile back. Granted you got most of your stuff back. That was too scary; also, when you are stopped by people, that won''t let you pass, not good. Not everyone is as friendly and open as you and Nala are. Out of all the cats I've had over the years, only 1 was like yours. Her name was Boots and she came to me way too young, but she imprinted on me and followed me around her entire 18 years, very much like a dog would. We were best buds...I still miss her.

I'm sorry if this sounded rude but your story is sad but funny at the same time.
I wanted to get my cat comfortable with traveling too. Tried just driving the backroads in my neighborhood with him loose on the cab with me, and I had the same results. He'd climb on me, then when I took a turn, he'd fall off, trying to hold on with his claws all the way down. He never mellowed out and went with it, so I never attempted any long road trips. Wouldn't have been fair to stress him out like that.
This guy is really lucky to have gotten Nala so young that she learned to like traveling. My cat was already several years old when I got him. Would have loved taking him on adventures more than anything.
She experienced it as a kitten, it's all she's known. Older cats see cars and think, "VET!!"

You mean for a van? Well....no, I wouldn't. I think Nala and Dean are great, but he made the decision to make this trip and live this way for the time being. Why should other people fund his lifestyle? I'm trapped in another country and don't have the money to return to my home country, so contributing to a more comfortable, safe way for an able-bodied guy to travel isn't on my horizon. Sorry.
He donates each month to animal welfare charities world wide. the money from the Nala calendar went to charities. Check out his Instagram for the charities or donate to a good cause in your area.

Today, with my having ‘just discovered’ this wonderful pair on RUclips.. I already feel the same! Both Dean and Nala are beautiful spirits .. whom it’s very obvious we’re meant to find each other/ be together.😁 I’m looking forward to following their adventures, can’t wait to get started (given my love of and with hubby and I still after many years.. missing our three long departed cats, plus my now being housebound (genetic disorder caused mobility, along with numerous other health issues.. 1:53 It's the Kitty Dish!!! I had a cat who liked to sit in the dished area of my Suburban when we were hitched up to the camp trailer and on the road. Her brother slept in the back seat the entire time we were driving but she loved either curling up in her kitty dish or sitting in the passenger seat with her nose either pressed to the glass to watch the world go by or pressed to the air vents so she could sniff the airs of many places. Like Nala, she was my Intrepid Girl Explorer although she wasn't keen on being harnessed up for walks. She preferred to view the world through her windshield or out of the trailer windows.
Nala's absolute faith in you is inspiring- These videos are so touching that I almost always see them through tears of joy.

I’ve seen quite a few cats riding with their long-haul trucker Dads, here in the US. They’re the best cure for long-haul loneliness, and the truckers provide loving, if mobile, homes for rescued cats.

I love my cat. She is a sweetheart and would not hurt a fly. She points out spiders to me that get indoors, but won't mess with them. Too prissy. Your cat is amazing.
