    .
Amanita muscaria aka the Fly Agaric or Mario Mushroom is an iconic mushroom that grows worldwide (thanks to humans spreading them via the timber industry). They contain ibotenic acid, which can cause vomiting, diarrhea, drooling, paralysis, but is not an inherently deadly toxin (like the Amatoxins in a Death Cap). Ibotenic acid can be decarboxylated into Muscimol via heat, UV, and low pH (no need to drink reindeer pee), which is a LEGAL entheogen that acts as a dissociative sedative. Muscimol is a GABA agonist that induces feelings of sleepiness and delirium, consuming too much can put you into a coma, so be very wary of your consumption.
    .
I ate roughly half a cap of A. muscaria fried in butter and felt mildy sleepy, a little woozy, and out of it. The mushroom itself was pretty tasty, I would try this again, just make sure you don’t need to go anywhere or do anything after eating it.
    .
If you want to eat more Amanita muscaria without the entheogenic effect, you can boil 2x in water (changing water each time) to render them a good edible mushroom with great squid like texture.

Watch out, the chemistry of A.muscaria is very different across geographic regions. Some are psychotropic and ok, some are very toxic. Some of its toxins keep being absorbed through the intestine and excreted through the biliary ducts. They can seem harmless but cause damage to your liver...

My first time having psychedelic mushrooms, I couldn't stop petting my chihuahuas and laughing. It felt weird when they licked my face. I also distinctly remember having a conversation with them, where they even asked how I can understand them. They made demands. 1) That I never get them fixed (been over 11 years for one and 8 years, obviously I made good on my promise). 2) That I carry them around wherever I go because their little paws are sensitive (also made good on that promise). 3) That I treat them like ferocious beasts who could tear a man in half (hard to do when they're so damn cute, but occasionally will indulge this request). 4) That they always get to be by my side, even after they're gone (this is a given). They were pretty intelligent when they spoke. Not something I expected.

The proper way to safely consume amanita muscaria for a psychedelic effect is to clean the white spots off thoroughly after harvesting. Then peel the skin off and throw away the rest. The psychoactive compound is mainly concentrated in the skin (not psilocybin). Then dehydrate the skin until it turns a gold color. I've harvested, processed, consumed, and very much enjoyed these fungi many many times. The white spots are quite toxic and will make you sick. Using a butter knife to scrape them away, then wiping thoroughly with damp paper towels is the method I use for removal. The white flesh is not very psychoactive and may contain parasites, so I would recommend avoiding consuming it. Be safe and have fun friends. The effect is completely different from psilocybin mushrooms. I would compare it to a good cannabis/alcohol cross fade without the drowsiness and drunken effect. Much laughter and vivid colors. ❤

He'd give us free shit all the time, pipes with hairline cracks that he couldn't sell, free K2(no bueno), free bath salts which we didn't even know it was bath salts until 6 months later. And Amenita Muscaria. I ate mine, uncooked cuz I didn't know I was supposed to cook it. I straight up felt poisoned for hours and my vision was crossed and blurry, it was so scary.
