In this episode of Kamp Kenan, Kenan Harkin will get up close and personal with the most prized captive collection in existence of the Ploughshare tortoise at Eric Goode's Turtle Conservancy. This species is one of the rarest land tortoises in the world, it's endemic to Madagascar and is classified as Critically Endangered. It is also known as the Angonoka Tortoise or Madagascar angulated tortoise. The population estimate for the Angonoka tortoise in the wild is about 600 individuals, ranging from 440 to 770, but is still decreasing. The tortoise is at an extremely high risk of extinction; it is thought it will become extinct in the wild in the next 10 to 15 years. Don't miss this special look at an amazing animal that needs our help!
Kamp Kenan is the home for fun and informative animal encounters, reptile education and wild adventures! Former Pro BMX star and current TV announcer, Kenan Harkin's reptile breeding facility in South Florida is the launching point for a plethora of how to's, who's who, and what's going on in the world of reptiles and adventure!

I feel the same way now... But we can still improve! A few plants and rocks to break up lines of sight, and providing uneven terrain can go a long way in improving a tortoise enclosure. Still, outdoors always beats everything...

What a great video and even better comments. Glad you didn’t bash people who have financial problems. Many would have bashed them for selling turtles but you should great sympathy towards the people who struggle financially. “Help the people and the animals will benefit” best comment I’ve heard in a super long time.

Kenan I like the passion you put into your line of work with these great animals. Its inspiring to see that kind of affection, and care you have for their well being. Its a sad shame when humanity takes a species numbers down over pure evilness and greed over currency. Us a people all over need to go the extrs mile to make sure they are all protected. Absolutely enjoy the videos on these great tortoises. Keep them coming!
