No mention of Chu Ishikawa's soundtrack. The industrial metal bashing and synthesizer programming is so utterly meshed with the visuals that it's hard to imagine this film being done by anyone else or any other approach being right. Apart from Einstürzende Neubauten perhaps. The perfect marriage between music and motion. RIP Chu.

Glad to see some of his other films mentioned, as it often seems like people only see Tetsuo and move on. He has a really impressive body of work.

I thought at the end he would say - "But be warned, neither as good as the original." Which is partially at least true, as solid as they are though. 😀

I don't know how anyone can review this film without mentioning the soundtrack.

This film is just pure madness, like some early Cronenberg.

Really? The early Cronenberg films are much more quiet and slow,. I'm thinking of Stereo and Crimes of the Future.

@@dr2599 i mean he was using canadas like grant movie making program so he couldnt really exactly make what he wanted and i dont think he knew early on exactly what he wanted to make.

It’s way better than early Cronenberg but he improved with Videodrome, The Fly and Naked Lunch. I would put Tetsuo on the level of those films

I've only seen Tetsuo: Body Hammer. It was during a film festival in Copenhagen in the mid-90s. I couldn't follow the plot, but I have never forgotten this movie. Or maybe it's just the awesome title I remember.

No film has been able to match this film's ability to create horror out of broad daylight
