Helmut Marko order horner to remove the front wing of Webber and to give it to Vettel and guess what? They did, and even like that Vettel didn't beat Webber, after that, Webber lost his suspension and his Rear wing.........it's all data, the whole team was build around Vettel because of Helmut
he was essentially saying that vettel's 4 titles do not yet prove that he is an elite driver, and that he needs to be able to win even in subpar cars (the way alonso has done before) to prove that
No one here seems to understand what he’s saying, he’s not criticising Vettel. When Alonso said this Vettel was still at Red Bull, and people who criticised him said it was the car doing all the work, not Vettel. They were tired of his dominance, booing him on the podium and wanted to see his dominance end. Alonso is saying that when his dominance does come to an end, and he’s 4th, 5th or 7th, people will see that as confirmation that his four titles were all his cars doing, not his own skill.
Vettel made the Ferrari's and Red Bull's look better than they were, as well as Alonso, the great ones do that. That's why Webber scored 0 wins while Vettel broke a record of 9 in a row. Having a car like the others from 2015 to 2019 he achieved 14 wins, 54 podiums and 12 pole
People so quickly forgot that Vettel was hated. Largely because of the drive to survive fans joining after that era, but... He was Max, before Max was Max. In so many ways, really. It's interesting to watch all the patterns as they repeat again and again.

Bro when people will realise f1 is basically engineers battling 90% of the the time ,Where machinery makes the most difference .The rest 10% is in drivers hand. Best car +A great driver wins any day. Lewis is class, seb is class, max is class when placed in best car . Only Mechanical issues(this is motorsport so these things are inevitable one can Just reduce these issues not erase) or Team mishaps and driving errors can penetrate them from winning and it happens to everyone. Happened to seb in 2018(errors by him+clsssic Ferrari), Happened to Lewis in 16(That one dnf and his poor starts in 16 almost every 2 race) Happened to Alonso in 2007(Errors like fuji crash+internal team issue). I think what Alonso is trying to say is that if seb has performances after his RB career that can back those 4 titles he won.I personally think he does have performances to back those titles. 2015 2017 2018 for seb .Same with Lewis 2007 2009 2012 2018 partially 2021. It’s pretty much a proven fact that you can’t win F1 titles without a great car, and you can’t win F1 titles without a great driver. A great driver in a very good car might be able to make a run at it, or a great car with a very good driver. When the cars are close in performance, that’s when being the better of 2 great drivers is required. But when the drivers are close in performance then it comes down to the better car.
You can only win with a mediocre car if your opponents are splitting points and aren't too much better than you or if they simply don't have good cars either.
Alonso proved he can’t win a title even with a dominant car like in 2007. He needs his competitors to have constant reliability issues like in 2005, 2007, 2010, 2012 to have any chance at winning - or an illegal car like in 2006.
Vettel is still statistically one of the greatest drivers in the sport but was seen as one of the GOATs in 2013 and better than Alonso and Hamilton. Since then he got destroyed by Riccardio and Leclerc and when he had a chance to beat Hamilton in 2017 and 2018 he made some terrible errors making those titles far easier for Hamilton than they should have been. I forgot how many years back I read an article from a very reputable source that interviewed many Formula One drivers that were racing, if not all of them agreed that Alonso was the best at the time.
Its just stating facts and true for every champion in every sport ever. In the past and in the future. Its human nature manifesting in human judgement. Alonso is a smart guy.
He said and things changed for Vettel. He exactly knew that what's coming for No. 5 I'm pleased that Alonso has signed the contract with AMR and performing really phenomenal. GOAT
alonso is saying this because he was feeling that on his own skin. by this time his two world titles were haunting him too "why isnt him able to get one more? he must be close to retirement" is something that were being said back then already. now we know he's still commiting and loving it, El Plan is in motion everybody! cue to alonso smile during piastri interview.
Same applies to Hamilton. What he achieves with Ferrari determine his legacy & his place in GOAT debate when their car isn't the Best, than the statistics won on overpowered Mercedes
Hamilton's first year in F1, he's already fast enough to beat Alonso in the same car. If him still being a rookie is already Alonso level, imagine his prime. Don't forget he genuinely won his 2008 title with Mclaren with an actual 2nd best car. People discrediting Hamilton is just plain clueless. I don't like the guy, but he's the best driver since Senna.

I actually applies more to Verstappen; as Hamilton has won races and challenged for a few titles in lesser cars. Max never even challenged for a title until he got the best car in 2021. His legacy will be determined by how well he performs in another team that doesn’t have the best car.
He made mistakes in 2018 but not 2010,11,12,13? You might ask why. The answer lies in the fact that Ferraris team environment and internal management put Seb under a lot of stress and this made him underconfident which leads to less performance. After all these years, it's looking more & more like the car is the much larger factor in determining race results than the driver. Specifically, it's remarkable how Vettel and others have dominated in Adrian Newey-designed cars.

Vettel fans are delusional as always. "if he stayed with redbull the whole time he would've won way more championships" No he wouldn't have, he'd have won no championships and would have less wins than he does now because Red Bull were way worse than Ferrari during that time period. Red Bull had the 3rd best car whilst Ferrari had the best car in 2017 and 2018. The only reason Vettel didn't win championships during his time there was because of his own mistakes. Red Bull was objectively a way worse team than Ferrari during Vettel's time there and moving to Ferrari was objectively a good decision. Had Vettel stayed at Red Bull he would have just continued to get beaten by younger teammates like Riccardo and Verstappen the same way he got bodied by Leclerc when he was at Ferrari. Vettel is the most overrated champion in the history of the sport and it's not even close. He only had two semi-dominant years in 2011 and 2013 and they were both when he had by far the best car on the grid. The always resentful fernando alonso
Alonso is a top driver and better than Vettel, arguably better than Hamilton as well, but he's salty here, this applies to him as well, he didn't win a title outside Renault either
F1 is a car based sport, drivers can't do much, any elite driver can win with the best car on the grid.
The only seasons were there were multiple teams close to each other till the final race were 07, 08, 10, 12, 21 and the winners were Kimi, Hamilton, Vettel and Max, the other seasons were dominated by a single team.
He isn't better than any of them. There is a reason he has won as much as they have.
@@afallenworld1581yea alonso could only dream for the rocket ships vettel and Hamilton had lol
Alonso is not better than either Vettel or Hamilton.
@@hfbloke706 Because he has never helped a team get faster.
When he joined Ferrari in 2010 they somehow got slower in 2012, when he went back to McLaren, they also somehow got slower.
He has also left almost every contract on bad terms.
@@afallenworld1581 tf you on about? you don’t even know what you’re talking about do you? 😭 this is exactly the same argument for when vettel joined ferrari they somehow got slower the next year, and he couldn’t even develop the ferraris to sustain a title challenge which ALONSO did. see what i did there? you think vettel left ferrari on “good” terms? is this a joke can you put your biases aside lol it’s ridiculous
The point made sense at the time, if your car is so dominant that people question 'could you have done that if the field was closer?' then it's a counter-factual thats hard for you to argue against (it relies on circumstances outside your control coming about). I've no doubt Fernando wouldnt say the same thing about Seb now.
Funny that someone whose car was deemed ilegal and won 2 titles with it says that. Only Kimmi won with a potato, on the same year Alonso and Hamilton had a rocket......
the renault cars were not illegals, kimi had a car that was on pair with the mclaren on most circuits, worse on some and better in others and he won only because of luck and the internal crisis of mclaren, hamilton deserved that title
Yeah ofcourse fia genius will tell us what was ilegal
And by the way renult f1, has problem with his one cylinder which they replaced with other and it becomes slower and team aim was 5th or 4th but won by defeating Micheal in Ferrari
Ferrari were faster
Amazingly Alonso wins back2back WDC with Renault then leaves🤔 Who else did that? Oh Shumi back2back WDC with Renault then leaves (Ironcially Shumi Renault was rumored to be illegal🤔 What did Renault do in Singapore 2008? Engineered a Win for Alonso! Hypocrite!!
Alonso isnt making a mockery of Vettel hes just saying that Vettel does not have a great car then the 4 titles he won through skill will be percieved as wins by the car. The theory is true and this can be said for all drivers including Alonso who won 2005-2006 due to the good renault car but when he was in worse cars his titles are perceived by the public as dependent on the car. (Like Vettel, Hamilton, verstappen etc.)
F1 is 80% machine its constructors sports not drivers
its true for absolutely everyone. the more successful you were at the top, the more you will be ridiculed when you're not. doesnt matter who you are. alonso certainly knows this from experience. and so does m. schumacher, hamilton, vettel and countless others. all instantly labelled washed the second they werent in the best car. such is the reality of F1.
Alonso is so salty towards vettep and hamilton its laughable
I feel he is not wrong though. Same thing is happening with lewis now. Everyone is questioning his 7 titles. Just hope he gets back up with ferrari.
@@Areebalam1yeah I agree, I mean if the car is so much slower than the opponents, Lewis or Vettel could just run instead to the finish line on his own legs and stop complaining about the car. Like if they are so good why they depend on the car, just use the legs smh my head. They both washed
But literally everyone in history had the best car to win more than 1 title, like himself in renault or Verstappen now
Lewis was the second best driver last year and he's master in the wets
@@sparkmw7 strictly speaking alonsos renault wasnt the best car, Kimis Mclaren was the best but it was falling apart every other race
Alonso knows! These two titles it was bad news for him when he had the same car with a rookie (and with two Ferraris😂) and he finished 3rd behind his rookie teammate
I am not saying LH is a bad driver but if he didnt move to mercedes nico rosberg would be called the goat rn and he wouldnt even be in the conversation, its just the truth
Not true because another driver would have faught Nico and also that only applys for 2014 to 2016. 2017 2018 Lewis alone made the diffrence
@@onlyviralvibes8386 2018 nico wouldve won if seb made the same mistakes,And as you said someone else wouldve challenged nico in mercedes but nico was genuinly driving in the same level as lewis in 2014 and 2016,there arent many drivers who can do that
Did you actually watch Nico & Hamilton’s title battles? If Nico was on Lewis’ level he would’ve stayed to defend his title. There’s a reason why he left, you don’t just vacate the fastest car on the grid if you think you can win another title. He would’ve gotten absolutely smoked the next few years and going through that stress wasn’t worth it to him anymore since he FINALLY beat Lewis with a lot of luck being on his side.
@@DaSpaceJammer Which is why i said he was on lewis's level in 2014 and 2016 only but if you think that any average driver can have a championship fight with lewis means that the only one downgrading lewis is you
@@greenfj1466 Results alone don’t tell the full story. How many DNFs did Lewis have compared to Nico in those years? What was the qualifying result between the two? What was the average margin between the two when they both had reliable vehicles? How many grid penalties were they both forced to take? There’s countless variable that come into place in a title battle but the naked eye could clearly see that Nico only won when Lewis’ eye was off the ball. That’s why he so easily closed the gap to Nico in 2014 & 2016, the only difference is that in 2015 he never had any bad luck.
People are saying Vettel hurt his legacy after Red Bull, but forget to acknowledge that he still won races and was in title fights with Ferrari in the Mercedes dominant era and still won a race in a Toro Rosso

Hamilton had completed +20 race distances of testing in the 2007 McLaren and was the sole driver who developed that McLaren ahead of the 2007 season. He was the best prepared rookie of all time. Alonso is right...Vettel is so overrated. Alonso is way better.
Alonso’s better at talking off track, Vettels better at winning races, poles and championships.
Vettel doesn’t lose to midfield drivers like Trulli and Ocon.
Not only does Alonso speak the truth, but it is a truth that him and every other world champion has experienced.
Alonso is lucky to win 2 titles. 2005 he only won because Kimi had so many reliability issues in a worse car. 2006 he only won in an illegal car.
2007, he had no reliability issues, Hamilton had a gearbox issue in Brazil. He would’ve lost a WDC to a rookie while in the fastest car if not for blind luck.
And 2010 and 2012 he only almost won because Vettels Redbull had a lot of reliability issues and lost numerous easy wins through no fault of his own. Alonso still bottled both seasons due to rookie mistakes.
As teammates, he’s lost to Tarso Marquez, Trulli, rookie Hamilton, Button, Ocon - none of these drivers were close to their peak or top drivers.
Alonso’s got to be the biggest fraud on the grid.

To say vettel is a shit is just not true , ofc he won his titles with the best car on the grid, but he is still a great driver, and look at alonso: when he drove in the alpine he didnt achieve much, but when he got in the aston martin, which was a great car last season, he was good arguably great again. What im trying to say is that the ones with the best cars have advantages on Wdc ok but you still have to be a great driver. Also look at the competitiveness of the 2010 grid for example. Vettel is not as bad as you describe him

And still only a two time world champion, two less than vettel😂😂😂
People seems to forget he got podiums with a god awful Aston Martin
He didn’t win championships afterwards but he was still an incredible driver. I understand what Alonso is saying here tho.
Fernando was so right so right. Even though I became a Vettel fan whilst at Ferrari. I hated him at RedBull though.
I'm big fan of Fernando and also of Sebastian, but Fernando stayed on 2 and actually the same situation as Seb.
When Vettel has a car that he likes and suits his style, he is unstoppable!
I remember this quote from Alonso and ive always said it back and related it to Hamilton 😂 Seb and Alonso did fantastic in cars below average, Lewis has never had a below average car until now and hes being walked by a maturing George Russell, Ferrari shouldve kept Sainz imho
True enough, Red Bull had given him a rocket to drive but he still had to drive it. And more over, it didn't fall into his laps. He earned it.
He’s not wrong but he’s not right.. in my humble opinion Vettel is a fantastic driver but he should’ve dominated like Max in those Red Bulls. In 2013 he delivered with 9 in a row but the following year got beat by Danny Ric who got 3rd in the standings..
He spoke from personal experience
Everyone goes from champion to "Dude... Where's my car?"
Same people that shat on Vettel during his Red Bull dominance are here in the comments section shitting on Alonso, because they are braindead enough to think he's insulting their new all-time favourite, bestest in the world, most kind driver to ever grace F1 - Sebastian Vettel.
Vettel failing to win another chip wasn’t Alonso’s prediction. It was that he would be heavily scrutinized once he wasn’t winning anymore. But Vettle especially in his Ferrari days was still glorified and retired as one of the most popular drivers on the grid. Fernando was wrong
Love sassy Alonso. Him on Hamilton “This guy can only race when starting from pole” 😂
He has always been a bit salty. And rightly so, as a Spanish driver he was never fully supported.
Alonso: Been there, done that.
Same is true with every champion.
i’ve always said this but had he won 2017, Seb and Ferrari would’ve probably won 18 as well and probably 19 with that momentum
just give everyone a red bull for the rest of the season and see who STILL wins. That's how important the car really is.
so many WDC live rent free in Alonso's head.
Concentrate on your own game. Alonso is a wheel to wheel legend, dont get me wrong
Alonzo win one championship in 20 years and he got the balls to talk , what a shame
Let's add that must be very hard for a pilot used to be number one to become 4 or 5
Alonso predicted a lot BUT HE WAS ALWAYS WRONG ABOUT SIR LEWIS
That applies to everyone...to Verstappen... Schumacher, Hamilton...
Vettel Was Still good until after the Ferrari move constantly in the top 5 drivers and in 2017 and 2018 he was second in championship but from 2019 onwards it was a downward trend
And Alonso didn't even won one race since that season while seb won another 15 times but ok
I always said vettel never should’ve left redbull. Love verstappen and a huge fan but I watched vettel when he was with toro rosso and then with the main redbull team and his absolute domination was amazing. His one lap qualifying runs were insane. I believe if he stayed with redbull the whole time he would’ve won way more championships.
Yeah, if Mercedes never happened
Vettel fans are delusional as always.
"if he stayed with redbull the whole time he would've won way more championships"
No he wouldn't have, he'd have won no championships and would have less wins than he does now because Red Bull were way worse than Ferrari during that time period.
He nearly lost the 2010 and 2012 championships to Alonso who was in a much worse car than him. He never even came remotely close to the level of dominance that drivers like Schumacher, Hamilton, and now Verstappen have achieved.
Fernando deserved MUCH more than his two WC
He was 100% right...
Even if Alonso is not directly criticizing Vettel, most of the time he wasn’t talking nicely about him, specially with the Spanish media, he was a bit extra harsh with the German considering the outcome of his title battles, an excellent driver for sure but his mouth sometimes wants to follow his talent
Vettel's career ender in germany, he was never the same again.
Max was ask his top four drivers & Alonso was included along side Ayarton, & I agree, when he sat in the pit holding up Lewis in Australia during qualifying I was watching at at 2, gangster, yal forget how long this guy has bee doing this, he did not buy his seat come from money, Kimi & him my favorite drivers, Le Clair & Senna l, I’m sorry personality love of racing, would do it for free
It is quite ironic. Alonso have been even farther away from a title than Vettel was with Ferrari.
Same for alonso Hamilton senna schumacher etc etc. F1 is a constructor championship first. There are great drivers some are that good rhat they can make the car go faster than its theoritical limitations. But if you give them à crapy car, or an ok car with bad crew or strategies. Even the greatest can not win.
Same for Alonso only 2 titles
