I'm not anti-BJP or an ardent Congress supporter. As an educated Indian citizen, I am of the opinion there are only a handful of politicians in our nation that truly deserve the respect of the average middle class. Mr. Shashi Tharoor is one of them. A man with etiquettes, accent, personality, & vision (at-lest for his current constituency). I am optimistic that if given the chance to shine, he will be a future P.M material.
Not to mention Ms. Bharkha Dutt, an elegant journalist who dominated the journalistic space in the early, mid, & late 2000s.
People say he is in the "wrong party". But I don't exactly agree with that statement. But yes, the Congress party indeed is not only about one political family, despite dozens of people including SV Patel and LB Shastri also being foundation stones of the party. Even Dr. Shashi Tharoor has his class.

Shashi Tharoor thrives on his ability to communicate whereas even a young newbee like Annamalai of Tamil Nadu provides hard facts and concrete evidence to show the way forward for India. If only Tamil Nadu adoped what Shashi Tharoor suggests, Tamil Nadu's development will be terribly lopsided. If Coimbatore region which contributes more than 60% of entire Tamil Nadu' revenues adopts Shashi Tharoor's suggestion, Chennai and the rest of Tamil Nadu will begin to beg. Why should Coimbatore region subsidize the rest of Tamil Nadu? Besides, the basis of the current formula before tweeking was Mrs. Indira Gandhi's brainchild. So Shashi Tharoor is in fact criticizing his own party and incorrectly fronting BJP's name as the culprit. How more unreasonable and unfair can Shashi Tharoor be? He does not do the basic research on where and how policies originated and concludes incorrectly and worse still communicates to people in his ever fluent manner that people believe him 100%. Who ever denies communication is key to progress (in this case key to misunderstanding and destruction)? The tweeking of the basis by BJP has been only in addressing what Shashi Tharoor has been complaining about. Shashi Tharoor is no better than the Karunanidhi DMK clan. The only difference is DMK guys are half educated crookes while Shashi Tharoor is a highly educated and very well spoken idiot. Please be careful before accepting Shashi Tharoor's books he publishes as this is proof enough that he has major inadequacies in researching before he writes. Check with Jai Sai Deepak who has torn Shashi Tharoor's various published materials to pieces.

@@amitmehra1922Very true. Its a very different scenario in Kerala as compared to Tamil Nadu. What would be common is that the calibre of a man like Tharoor which is clearly exposed. His core views and behaviour would not be very different given any situation. That's his nature and polished very well with his communication skills in English. His competitor in the Thiruvanandapuram constituency Rajeev Chandrasekhar should adopt Annamalai's tactics and expose Shashi Tharoor's major short comings in his attempts to stay ahead.

US might be the biggest power and quite naturally so coz of its huge GDP and size. When you have to be in that list you need to take care of crime rate, press freedom, democracy rank, corruption index and a whole host other things.

Sasi Tharoor is actually looking clueless this time around as there are a lot many things that are going against him. His ego doesnt allow him to accept Rajiv as a better opponent but fact is that he is actually petrified. He knows his fate depends on 3 things that used to work for him every time... 1) The city young voters voted for him because he was seen educated and a non politician who was talking balanced tone on many things and the main opponent the BJP that has a solid vote base in the city temple going home bound population ( substatial to keep the party in second place all through) always used to put up a typical Politician and that gave Sasi a USP of being someone more erudite and not a run of the mill politician... 2) the Left votes used to switch sides always in the city constituencies to Sasi in case of a danger to him ( common enemy is BJP) and 3 ) The coastal votes ( minority Christian votes never voted for a thoroughbred BJP Politician) en masse voted for Sasi. With all this Sasi couldnt get a real huge margin except in 2019 when the Rahul factor played a lot in Keralas mind thinking RG will become PM and Sasi will become minister.....
Consider this now 1) The City young voters are seeing Sasi hasn't done much and a fresh more focused technocratic doer type Rajeev who is a sitting minister is on the fray from BJP ... While the basic vote bank ( temple going home bound population still stays with BJP. The shift in young votes are a warning sign for Sasi 2) The Left need as many votes as they can gather because it is a matter of their symbol and existence as a national party that is why they have put up their best candidate a very honest and respected leader Panniyan Raveendran who lives among the masses in the city. This will cut the possibility of vote transfer to Sasi from Left ( that is a killer blow ) also Modi is sure to come back again and Rajeev is a minister which mean the same logic people applied to help Sasi increase vote share in 2019 is reverse applying here. 3) The most important factor is the Coastal votes ( Christian votes) ... Traditionally congress but with a considerable left inclination. if Left canvases well here to save their symbol or if the approach Rajeev has taken in helping the coast line has some effect Sasi is a goner... because that is the only reliable fort for Sasi which may stay put with him ...but if Panniyan gets votes there or Rajiv gets a small portion of the votes Sasi will loose.... This is the fact... Sasi is nervous and is very unlike the normal confident and smooth himself ... it will go to the wire and these above factors especially the third will determine the winner ...
Tharoor used to get the soft left voter's votes. But this time, having struck an understanding between Pinarayi and Modi, there might be some vote transfer to Rajeev Chandrasekhar. Anyway, this is the second hottest seat in Kerala, the first being the Vadakara, where KK Shailja, the rock star ex-health minister faces the most promising youth politician in Kerala: Shafi Parambil of Congress.
