Their version sets themselves apart by adding magnet areas within the Pocket RGB giving you the ability to magnetically attach it to most metals you find around your set. The Falcon Eyes F7 Pocketlite is great if you are in a pinch and don't have an extra light stand or magic arm, in fact most C-Stands are magnetic if you just need to add an extra punch of light somewhere!

    *HOW DO YOU ADJUST THE "HSI" AFTER GOING INTO HSI MODE?*
    The rocker switch (it goes up and down) is actually a button as well, once you've set yourself into HSI mode, press the rocker down to activate the button. This will highlight the "Hue" setting, press down again and it will highlight the "Saturation" setting.

      I also think you don't need smart phone the menu is super fast and easy and the fact you can plug it in is awesome did I 8 hour shoot plugging it out only when I needed it placed in hard to reach places and with double screw mounts you can even screw it into the bottom of a gimbal ✍️

      Hey hey Conrad!
      There's definitely a plethora of these lights popping up everyday it seems. They are definitely some interesting secondary lights on set, and very handy when just traveling and not wanting to bring a large light with you. I haven't found myself in a major traveling situation aside from NAB. But when I do and want to VLog it, I will definitely be bringing these little guys with me!

    Hey Jason, so which would you recommend if I wanted to get 2 lights for vlogging and bluetooth didn't matter. The Atomcube rx1 or the FalconEyes F7? The Boling P1 is out of the running since the Atomcube rx1 is brighter from one of your other reviews. I'd love to hear your opinion. Thanks for the great video!

    • @TLDR_filmmaker
      @TLDR_filmmaker  4 года назад +1

      Hey hey MrConcord75!
      Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question!
      In terms of your film situation and that bluetooth doesn't matter. From a price point, I would say the Falcon Eyes F7 with the Grid+Diffuser attachment. The extra Grid and diffuse could be of some use for you in you how you set up the light. But if battery life is a concern and you don't always want to bring a USB powerbank with you, the Atomcube RX1 lasts about an extra 30 minutes (If I remember correctly. The lighting quality is very similar, so really the only things that differ, besides bluetooth, is the accessories or overall batt life (And of course size in your pack)
      Hope this helps! Thanks again for stopping by and I’ll see you in the next one!

    Great video, it convinced me to get this light over the more expensive aputure one and I’m glad I did. But I’m wondering can you control this light via an app? If so is it available on iPhones?

    • @TLDR_filmmaker
      @TLDR_filmmaker  4 года назад +1

      Hey hey Bella!
      Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question!
      No, the Falconeyes F7 (at least my version 1, not sure if they have a version 2 that was updated) does not have the smartphone feature. The only one that I Have reviewed with smartphone capabilities was the Pilotfly Atomcube RX. Video here: ruclips.net/video/o6Z1wZMcjDE/видео.html
      That one has an iPhone app, somewhat similar to the Aputure but I think may be missing the color match feature that the Aputure has. But they have continuously been updating that app so I think its only a matter of time they add that feature. Its brighter than the Aputure MC but does not have the magnetic backing it that is a feature you need.
      Hope this helps! Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!

    Hey TLDR Filmmaker!
    I checked out your video and commented!
    Thanks for the comparisons. These new LED lights are great! I wish we had these just a few years ago. I have the P1, which looks much more saturated than it did in your video. I actually was almost able to use it to shine green on a wall for chroma keying (but one light wasn't enough to cover the entire background). Have you tried the VL-1 from VIJIM? It is only Bi color, but it has the magnetic back, which is more useful than I expected.

    • @TLDR_filmmaker
      @TLDR_filmmaker  4 года назад

      Hey hey OrlanDave!
      Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting! It could be that I have the P1 much further from the wall, but then again it could also be changes in the LED chip boards throughout manufacturing. But most likely it's because when I was doing the RGB tests, I was lining up with the vectorscope for green instead of true Chroma Green which I think has a slight yellow to it. I have not tried the VL-1 but have used a daylight only version thats inside that same exterior body (The Sokani X21). Its so light that I just used regular poster tack to hold on any wall surface, but magnets would definitely be nice for something that light!

      I couldn't seem to find anything about an Adventure RGB mini light, depending on if the company reaches out to me and the spec's make for an interesting review, I would check it out. I try to not review products that are too similar, if its got a little extra magic that I can see to be useful, I will test it and review it :)

    Which out of these 3 do you recommend?
    Also I need to figure out how to adapt a audio recorder like a zoom, a light and a shotgun mic. I want to make a small and compact rig as possible. I don't know anything about adapters or hot/cold shoes, ball mounts etc. I need all three on top and neat looking.

    • @TLDR_filmmaker
      @TLDR_filmmaker  4 года назад

      Hey hey Andrew!
      Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question!
      The three right now are pretty similar in price, but depending on your application of the light and how far your general subject will be from the camera, you can't go wrong with either one as the output brightness won't make that much of a difference when the subject is up close. The F7 has the most accessories if you need it, but I still personally love the Boling P1 because of it's built in bracket that can go in all different angles. That has been more useful for me.
      For your rig are you wanting to just leave the camera on a tripod or will be walking around with it? Because to have everything on the drop will make the camera top heavy and it may not feel comfortable to carry around. But generally speaking, you're probably wanting a universal DSLR Cage of sorts, something like this: amzn.to/2xnl7ah (Not what I'm actually recommending, just an example) (This is my amazon affiliate link, by using this link I get a small commission that directly supports this channel at no additional cost to you. If you choose the link I sincerely appreciate you support this channel Thanks!) Where you are not actually touching the camera but can wide your grip so that you can support and hold the camera steady with all the other accessories on top of the cage. To mount everything onto the cage you will need to attach some cold shoe adapters like these: amzn.to/2yVnMZd
      From there you would then decide what kind of cold shoe will go into them whether it be a solid piece or a ball head that can articulate a little bit. If you have the Boling P1 the articulating won't be necessary as its bracket already can do it. The shotgun Mic, most people just have them pointing forward. And the record will probably just use a solid piece so that it stays flat unless you want it to angle where you're standing.
      Again I'm not suggesting these are the exact things you need, there are plenty of ways to rig something up. But hopefully this gives you an idea of where to start and will lead you to a rig that works for you.
      Hope this helps! Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!

      Hey hey again DantinoX!

      Nope, SD cards don't actually hold data like old school magnetic tape media where any cheap magnets will be able to ruin the data.

    How does the magnet work? I've seen that the Apurture MC light just snaps on tightly to metal surfaces, the Falcon Eyes F7 I played with briefly seems just too heavy or the magnet too weak. Or was I doing something wrong?

    • @TLDR_filmmaker
      @TLDR_filmmaker  4 года назад

      Hey hey Brandon!
      Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question!
      It could depend a little bit on the thickness of the surface metal you are attempt to magnetically stick it on to. Something like a refrigerator was not enough to hold the F7 securely, but the steel rails in the garage latched out very strong. The Aputure MC probably has the better "weight to magnetism" ratio, with the only caveat being lower output.
      Hope this helps! Thanks again for stopping by and I’ll see you in the next one!

    Do you think this light would be powerful enough to use as a background light to light a wall or a backdrop ?

    • @TLDR_filmmaker
      @TLDR_filmmaker  4 года назад

      Hey hey Roma!
      Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question!
      It sort of depends on how you proceed with the idea. I've definitely used these type of pocket RGB lights for a background like in a Vlog style video when I went to NAB. But in those setups I purposely turned off all lights in the room so that the wall could be lit as bright as I could get it, and then used other small pocket LED's to light my face. In this setup I was close to the wall to ensure the wall got as much light as possible.
      This is not necessarily idea depending on your needs or aesthetics because of the small size of the LED, you will get a hotspot of color in the center of your wall and the color fall off is quite quick. This is soley because of the small LED size, if you were to use a longer light like a RGB tube where it can spread more light throughout an area evenly, thats how you can achieve a much more solid looking colored background.
      That being said, if you were to use this to light a background for small product shots, than this little light can help with that. But for videos of a person talking, you may want to get a larger RGB light panel like the GVM 50RS that I reviewed in which I did light the background of a wall in some examples. Video here: ruclips.net/video/AFAuODtOWQs/видео.html
      Hope this makes sense and helps! Thanks again for stopping by and I’ll see you in the next one!

    I’m looking for a small rgb light for a live streaming rig at night we do paranormal investigations spend time in woods and abandoned buildings would this provide enough light to light up a decent enough area so my viewers would be able to see

    • @TLDR_filmmaker
      @TLDR_filmmaker  4 года назад

      Hey hey miccccck1!
      Thank you so much for checking out this video and question!
      My immediate answer is, it depends. if you are just lighting yourself as you walk around, kind of like those old "fear" shows where they are wearing a camera rig. This light will do just fine for that. If you are trying to light a room or use it to show the audience something, then it most likely will not be enough. Oddly enough, it may be better for you to just use a good ol fashion powerful flashlight. The light from a flashlight is more concentrated where as this type of light is more spread, so this light is only gonna be good enough up to maybe 6' at full blast in "daylight" 5600k. If you are using RGB colors, it will be even more dim compared to "daylight".
      Long story short, its probably better to use some flashlights in general, but if you want a light to light up yourself as you are talking to the camera. Than this F7 would do the trick as the wide beam won't blast your face as harsh as a flash light.
      Hope this makes sense and helps! Thanks again for stopping by and I’ll see you in the next one!

    That diffuser of the size and the shape of the LED light source is for masking the individual LED beads in reflections. No shadow softening can happen with that thing on.

      Hey hey Alexei!
      Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting!
      You're not wrong, especially if this light is used like a vlogging light at a distance. However for wedding filmmakers, this light has been useful for when they are getting some close up "product style shots" of the rings etc. In these moments having the diffusion filter up closer to the rings gives a more pleasant look than the bare LED; a very specific use case. But you're right, unless it's for a close up shot the shadow softening won't happen for other use cases from a light source this small.

      @TLDR_filmmaker  4 года назад +1

      Hey hey Elite Family!
      Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! In terms of comparisons, the Pilot Atomcube RX1 that I reviewed would be the closest match against the Aputure MC. Review here: ruclips.net/video/o6Z1wZMcjDE/видео.html
      The RX1 would definitely beat it out in overall power, but the MC is nice in that its a specialty light that's really small and light. So it will depend on your application and how you plan to use it. For me as a narrative filmmaker, the MC will be really easy to hide and use as accent lights in a scene while the RX1 will be useful for me to splash a little color onto someone if I need it done quickly in a close up shot.
      Traveling Vloggers can benefit from both depending on how they generally like to shoot, some may need more power, some may not if they turn off all the lights in their hotel and use either the MC or RX1 to 3-point light.
      Long story short, it really depends on how you plan to use it. Hope some of these scenarios help you narrow down which is best for you! Thanks again for stopping by and I’ll see you in the next one!

      Hey hey Jonaathan!

      Honestly when it comes down to it in a use-case, any of the pocket RGB systems will do very well. The Attachment system of the P1 makes is the one I will take in my bag immediately for travel because I want something that can be deployed at a whim at any angle. For films where I have more setup time, I can use F7 or RX1 or P1. The Magnetic back is definitely a nice feature and can come in handy if planned for or in certain pinches, but sometimes having that P1 awesome all angle arm is all that you need to know you can deploy anywhere.
      In the end, it really just depends on what kind of filming you do and if you see a need for this type of LED in your kit for your movie, vlog, or youtube setup.

    As you see the performance of those 12W?? you think it is enough to
    illuminate a person, take the case of making portraits to illuminate
    with red on the left and blue on the right both falconeyes on tripods,
    do you think it can cover the body, that they have the enough power?
    because once I tried with two yeelight bulbs and the performance was
    poor because the light expanded throughout the room, in the end the
    effect of coloring the skin and clothes was lost was quite dim, so I ask
    you how you think it will work with this Falconeyes, will it have
    enough power? because using gels with flashes is much more expensive,
    each one around 400 dollars

      @TLDR_filmmaker  3 года назад

      Hey hey Jaime!
      Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question!
      No, this light is way too small to cover the body, you will need something that outputs more power. However even with something more power, you will want that light as close as possible to where you want to crop the image so that you get the most output. While the flash with gels would technically be the better solution and giving you a lot more power to get the look you want. You may want to look at the Neewer 660 RGB that I reviewed here: ruclips.net/video/BTCsyGXeWl8/видео.html
      Pocket RGB's are expensive for their portability, the 660 RGB i think is only about $10 more and will give you much more RGB power to work with, if you go the 660 route go ahead and take off the plastic cover in front to get the most power and more control of diffusion if needed. Hope this helps!

      Hey hey AR14!
      Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question!
      Without knowing your exact filming situations and setup, I can't really offer the best answer. While you technically could use this light, I would not recommend it as you will have to be filming in very specific situations to make the light work for your video. If you're in a dark club or filming at night and film quick interviews on site, this light will be bright enough in close proximity. If you are trying to film a more sit down interview, then you will definitely need a more traditional light setup to produce enough light.
      In the latter situation my best suggestion is to purchase an LED Panel that is capable of providing more powerful and larger light output so that you have more options in your filming situations. They are still quite portable as most of them have NPF Battery slots. My favorite overall LED panel is the GVM 50RS that I reviewed: ruclips.net/video/AFAuODtOWQs/видео.html
      This panel throws out a good amount of light, its portable, bi-colored and RGB. It's a great overall panel. You can of course by a cheaper panel that doesn't have RGB features and save some money that way.

    Any other recommendations on easy ways to replicate a softbox for these panels?

    • @TLDR_filmmaker
      @TLDR_filmmaker  3 года назад +1

      Hey hey again Garrett!
      While these pocket lights can be put into a traditional softbox and jerry rigged to stay inside. They will most likely not be powerful enough for more keylight setups unless you plan to raise your camera ISO very high which causes video noise.
      That being said the easiest way I know of is to purchase a Bowens Flash mount and then purchase a softbox of your choice. What this will do is give you a way to hold a softbox to a light stand, and you can then tie down the Pocket LED on the inside of the softbox to the Bowens flash mount clamp that holds the photographers flash.
      Again these pocket LED's may not be powerful enough depending on how large of a softbox you are going for. But if you are in a completely dark room, you may be able to get semi decent camera settings as long as you frame a close up to your face and have the light super close so that it's just out of range.

      @@garrett8662 I see, I wasn't sure why you needed this specific setup, I should have asked. Honestly like I said, you're going to need to really control the lighting in your room, wherever you are, to make these lights work for you and need to get them in close. It's just hard for me to say "go for it" when I feel this is your biggest variable to hurdle. And especially wince you need to rig everything in an unnatural way just to get it to work. That in itself makes the setup not as streamlined and could have potential problems along the way.
      That being said now that I know what your use case it. You may want to look into this older set of lights I reviewed: ruclips.net/video/VKZN2sX5nbY/видео.html
      It has everything you need minus batteries, if you need them. My guess is you will always be in a space with AC outlets to film your auditions. My review is a bit older and I think they have newer versions. Essentially this is everything you need in one case. Two lights that are MUCH more powerful than the F7, Softbox, lightstands, and all of it fits into one case. Should you want to battery power it, you have that option with two additional NPF batteries per light. Hope this helps!

    You stated in the first two minutes that the Falcon Eyes is larger than the Boling P1 and AtomCube RX1 allowing for extra LEDs to pump out "even more light". This is mis-information, leading the viewer to believe that this light is brighter than the Boling P1 and Atom Rx1. According to the specs, the AtomCube RX1 (1800lux 0.5m) and the Boling P1 (1480lux 0.5m) are significantly brighter than the Falcon Eyes (1250lux 0.5m). In minute three you doubled down and again stated that The falcon eyes f7 is definitely more powerful than the Boling P1 and on par with the AtomCube RX1. Even in your visual comparisons on the wall, the Boling P1 looked brighter to me and the AtomCube RX1 is clearly the noticeable winner. This is one of the main criteria someone looks at in a comparison, so as a reviewer you might want to be more careful that what you're stating is accurate and is not misleading your audience. Other than that, good review.

      Hey hey Sensory Alchemy!
      Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting!
      I don't disagree with you, but let me explain a little bit of my process.
      I know it's a bit hard to see on a phone, but around that 3min mark where I begin showing the waveform charts, the F7 does beat out the P1 while staying on par with the RX1 in terms of overall output. Visually it could look very similar, but when brought into the computer with the waveforms, it shows exactly what the camera sensor was seeing. In terms of colors it jumps here and there with which LED produces the most luminance and saturation, in this regard the RX1 is the overall winner only losing out slightly in the Green Saturation via the Vectorscope measurement.
      As for the Manufacture ratings, I don't read into these too much as I don't know how they measured it and sometimes I don't know what Kelvin they measured at. So in my tests on LED's, I always take a look at what my camera actually see's when the light is 6' away from the wall (A nice standard distance for narrative films), full blast, ISO 400, 1/60th, and f2.8. All on a GH5 MFT sensor at a lower ISO to simulate the best possible scenario for lower noise. And from there depending on if the GH5 settings can't handle the brightness, I'll begin tuning down the f-stop to see how far I can go to get something down to 50IRE for skin tones.
      So in short, I probably should have worded it differently how I stated it as you're correct, there's not inherently a night and day difference between the three and you'd need to do the waveform tests I did to see if it actually was brighter or not. I do these waveform tests to ensure people know I'm not just saying its "bright" but then never show them digital data and what camera settings I'm using.
      Hope this helps clear some things! I do appreciate you engaging in the comments and letting me know your thoughts! I always learn the most for myself and what viewers like and need when it comes to reviews because of it! Thanks again for stopping by and I’ll see you in the next one!

In hindsight the diffuse would probably only really come into play for some small product photography, but then again I think I'd opt to cover the filming area with either a small 5 in 1 reflector material or wax paper and shoot the F7 at that and create a larger wrap around the product if I can.
      Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!

    Thanks for the review. I really dunno whether we need the music. It makes it sound like an infomercial. Your personality should be what makes us watch the video - not the background music. For me, it's a distraction.

      Hey hey again Patrick!
      You're most welcome! I've actually stopped using music during the "reasons" portion now. No one has said anything about it being gone so... no more background music during that section! :D

    In all the videos I've watched, this diffusor just sucks. Not actually diffusing the light, and only reducing it

      I don't disagree with you, due to the small size of the light the diffuser only really becomes noticeable on a small level if you are filming maybe stop motion legos films. I can't say I will find many uses for the diffuser as I'll probably either bounce the light off of a board or through diffusion material like I did in one example. The grid on the other hand works great and does a good job directing the light and I can see more uses for it than the diffusion attachment.
