How to Manually Update Windows 10 to Version 22H2

- If you are running Windows 10 and are still on the 22H1 build and Windows Update says you are up to date, you might be wondering how to install the 22H2 update. If your computer is not doing it via Windows update, then you can download and run the Windows 10 Update Assistant to manually update your computer yourself. It's a simple process but will take a bit of time to complete.

This has worked perfectly, I could not update my windows for so long and this was the fix to shut up all terrible fake fixes out there.
When I restarted it after it installed it didn’t show the update screen or the “hi, we have some updates for you” screen it just restarted like a normal reboot and it didn’t update my windows

Thank you. Son did a fresh install of windows from a dvd and this was exactly what we needed to get to a more current version.
Reinstalled Windows on a new drive; version 1709. It has been "downloading and installing" 22H2 for a full day -- by which I mean it downloads, installs, restarts, and starts the process all over again. So...THANK YOU. I've been trying to find this manual update link all morning.

@@biancamaxino yes it will just reboot your PC and installed the newest one. But if you're having a doubt well it better to have a backup files before u do it.

I did all this and after neustart nothing happens, still version 1703, any advice please? I m trying to update the version since days!
My Windows Update assistant is stuck at 99% on Installation screen and I have 5G network with 200mbps but it is still stuck on 99% after a whole 24 hours

This worked for me, after watching and trying many videos which didn't work. I had the problem where it would download 22H2, then try to install after restarting, and then not work and do the same thing over and again. I tried turning off all except windows processes in the selective startup, and that didn't work. For some reason this method of dl directly from microsoft did the trick. Thanks.

This should work fine and it will not affect the files on your C drive but always do a backup before running an update like this.

I don't see that update screen All I have is the the windows welcome screen where the log on supposed to pop up but it doesn't it just sits there

Mine from 90 to 97% it took 2hr then I gave up I thought I doesn't work

found a fix. had to enlarge REcovery partition from 500 to 750 mb and also used bat to reset update system
after that it was not needed to use this website. update tab in settings found 22h2 and started downloading it

I think finally I got the update the 22H2 Windows 10 Now when my computer restarts it goes on to the log on screen no mouse no keyboard no log on I shut it on and off and on and off on and off for the past 2 days trying to get into something even the BIOS into some kind of a thing to fix it but when I start it and it's on the log on screen I hear the hard drive moving so I guess it's doing the upgrade but the screen goes black and if I remove the power it comes back on again but there's no log on no keyboard works and no mouse so is it updating it's taking like a whole day this is crazy any advice

According to Microsoft, you can go from 2004 to 22H2. Updates do not delete personal files but ALWAYS do a backup before doing any major update like this just in case you encounter and unrecoverable errors.

After resetting laptop windows version is 21H1. It may download updates as laptop was unused for few months.
Can i directly install 22H2 from 21H1 skipping 21H2 or can i install 21H2 and then 22H2 immediately after reset. There may be some patches which are uninstalled as windows update does not download all patches at once.
Will it break my pc?
It takes half a day to reset and install all apps and transfer data.

Yes, you should be able to go from 21H1 to 22H2 without any issues. Then again its Microsoft so there is no guarantee you won't have a problem!

There is correction. It should read. After system restore it was 21H1 and next update was 22H2 skipping 21H2. Apologies for the error.

It took me 5hours for the first 3 download and now there is more
After updating the laptop it had to restart thn it's saying enter password which I didn't put any password
Try the password associated with your Microsoft account

No it wont affect your files but make sure to do a backup just in case something goes wrong.

Is this a work computer that is running Windows 10 Enterprise? Go to your settings then System and then About and it will show your Windows edition.

@@elsa6105 It sounds like there might be some domain policy blocking the update or maybe your computer is updated by a local Windows update server. Either that or the update assistant doesn't work on Enterprise versions of Windows.

This will not affect your files but you should always do a backup before a major update just in case something goes wrong.

No, its just like doing the same update from Windows update but we do recommend backing up your files before installing any major updates manually.

USING microsoft program its not manually
It did help me, but you're absolutely right. Manually would be inserting the update/injecting it. This helped me a lot tho cause I didn't need to do it manually after all

No but you should always do a backup before any major upgrade.
How much storage space does it take
I'm not sure but you can do a disk cleanup to remove setup files when it's done.

This is just to update your Windows 10 version to the latest build. You can upgrade to Windows 11 for free if your PC meets the requirement.

@@jefforr4488 It depends which video you are referring to. If you do the Windows 10 22H2 upgrade then your computer will be as current as the file you download. If you do the Windows 11 upgrade, then you will be on Windows 11.
