@@amiefessler8736 honestly it varies, some people feel strong loyalty to brands they like and don't like to see others not enjoying them (although personally I think it's great that different brands exist for different audiences - what works great for me might not be a good fit for some people and vice versa!), and some people just don't like negativity and watch RUclips for entertainment purposes haha 😅 personally I find honesty to be the most important factor in my reviews so I will continue to share any slightly negative opinions!
@@KelliMarissa Critique is important for making better product, I love Holo Taco and almost exclusively only buy their polish but I wasn't satisfied with a few and that's okay too. This gives them a good opportunity to improve their formulas.

I am used to HT polishes being more opaque, but Cristine did say that because these are jellies with glitter, the best coverage is best in 3 coats. I don't mind 3 as long as they dry well and fast so mine should be here in a couple days so I guess I'll see on my nails. I prefer our honest opinion over just fake gushing. There's enough swatchers that do that no matter how bad the polish is. Thanks for another great video 💜
That is a good point, honestly I am just so used to their super opaque polishes that I forget how jellies are supposed to apply 😂😂
I agree with you about dry time. I think that’s why I love HT so much because at least for me, it dries the fastest. I might need to be more patient with these glitters though.
That's a really fair criticism of the opacity. As usual, Holo Taco's releases have one or two shades I'm interested in and I can't justify international shipping. I'm glad to see the brand expand into more interesting finishes too! I'm still watching for what they release and waiting for that one collection that speaks to me haha.
Hopefully they make a collection of more shimmers like that teal because it's a STUNNER
On the topic of international shipping, does the nail polish community have anything like the indie perfume oil community where buyers of a given brand in a country will do a group order to one location and then ship to people domestically? It's something I've seen on the Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab forums before.

For anyone who wants to stretch the number of fully opaque manicures you get out of each bottle of special polishes like this, another option is starting with a coat of a similar-color cheaper creme or shimmer polish underneath the special one(s).
You may still need multiple layers of the good stuff for optimum glitter effect/depth, but you probably won't need as MANY.
Suggested order of layers: nail-protecting base coat -> cheaper more opaque polish -> the good stuff -> topcoat.
This is what I did with the original royalty trio. Except the base polishes were also HT, so not that much cheaper 😂😅

Hi! HT Stan here. 1) i think Teal No Lies is probably one of the prettiest colors of anything ever created ever, which is funny cause i thought spy glass was gonna be my color. 2) One of my biggest things with this collection is, while i think the colors are absolutely stunning, I find it kinda hard to justify buying a limited edition polish when you essentially have to do three sets of nails to wear them one time, if that makes sense. Like I will definitely support and rock it, it’s just kinda hard to want to wear them when you know when it sells out it’s gone for good. Idk, maybe that’s just a me thing, and I am aware of the risk when purchasing as well. It just kinda sucks when you love the color that much lol
I watch a lot of people who review nail polish. You are, of course, my favorite, and one reason is because you're honest and ALSO kind in your reviews. I've never heard any negativity coming from you, but you do tell the truth and that is so important!
I love all these colors and finishes, but I will rarely spend that kind of money on a polish that takes 3 coats. If you can charge that much, you can get your formula opaque. I am more than willing to spend a lot on nail polish, and I do, but I want it to be the best quality of I am spending more than 10 dollars or so.

Not weird at all! I personally love sheer polishes 😄 but I do prefer for them to be not patchy when they're sheer haha!
I got the bundle (bc I’m a sucker for LE and bags 😂). Appreciate your honesty and constructive criticism! Not every polish from a favorite creator will be perfect and if no one says anything, things will never improve. Also love the highlight for a polish shaker esp for those who may have disabilities; I just shook up a bunch of bottles that had settled and my arms are sore and tired lol.
It truly is such a workout shaking up those bottles manually haha! My arms get so sore 😂

I guess I assumed since these shades were decided on by Holo Royalty members, the finishes, shades and opacity were something that people generally wanted.
I appreciate your frankness and also the disclaimer about your personal preferences. I feel like it's helpful for those trying to decide on how to spend their money.
I'm glad they're diving into jelly formulas as I do love them! I just wish I could wear these in a sheer two coat look without patchiness haha 😅 but they are great at improving new formulas so I'm excited to see what else they create in this style!
I was one of the holo royalty people who voted on the colors and they didn’t say anything about the opacity just the shades, like they gave us two choices for pink, two choices for blue, etc. and we had to vote on which choice we preferred out of the choices we were given

I'm here for the honest reviews!! 👏👏 I also agree with your opinion (which is very fair) that there should be consideration given for the price point of a product and how it's advertised to consumers. I currently have very long nails, so the idea that it could take me 4 coats to get Spyglass to appear fully opaque on me is 😑. I also learned from another reviewer that at extreme angles Spyglass also has some pink to it, which would be nice if details like this were included in the product description.

Spyglass is the most perfect Cinderella's ball gown blue ever. I think the pink and blue and the teal and purple would make good pairings.😊❤😊
I am a big fan of 2 nail RUclipsrs. Yours and simplys. That said, I've been very underwhelmed by the last two launches. I voted on these colors too so I don't know what happened.
I appreciate honesty because I decide what to purchase based on all the videos I watch. I now have over 400 polishes and I know what brands I like to purchase. Opacity is important and sometimes the only way you know is when they are swatched. So, thank you.

I just ordered this when it came out! Not only are the colors gorgeous, but the little Holo bag that they come with was just too cute to pass up! I really appreciate your honesty and I'll definitely be wearing some of these with a blurring base coat.
Side note, I also always shake my polishes and have no issues with bubbles or anything. Take care! ❤️

I'm interested to see how Spyglass is on my nails! I actually always do 3 coats of polish even when they're opaque in 2 because that's just what feels right to me. Why? I have no idea 😂

I looove Spyglass!! I'm very tempted. One thing I've noticed about HT is that they take quite a long time to dry. But all these colors are beautiful!!
I suspect that's due to them being on the thicker side - I usually try to do super thin coats of them to keep it from getting clumpy and not drying haha!
Thought it was just me that felt their polish takes too long to dry. Most times, I make press-ons with HT polish, so I don't have to wait. My patience won't allow me to wait for three coats to dry.😂

8:14 I got a vortex mixer a while back and it’s the best $ (or rather €) I’ve spent nail polish wise! I was finally able to get even the worst separated creams to remix properly. I have a pink one, too, and it looks a little… anatomical.

I helped vote these polishes into existence😉…I love that HoloTaco (HT) encourages feedback and opinions from their most loyal customers for collections like this. The only problem for me is…another pretty pink that is limited edition…just like you said “Life in Plastic” from last summer was a favorite but alas it was also limited edition and no longer available. I haven’t got my order yet but I got all of them. I think for the price point ILNP is a better brand but I still have almost everything from HT😳
It's definitely a fun concept and I love that they do it! The colors did turn out very pretty. I wonder if they're not keen on the idea of having many pinks because it's a fairly common nail color 😅
I always look forward to your reviews! Hearing your realistic overview on performance is so helpful for whether or not to buy polishes! For some polishes a lack of opacity isn't a big deal because you can put a similarly toned creme under it but it's definitely helpful to just have the polish itself just be more opaque without having to use so much of it. Especially if it's something you have to really splurge on. I'm international so HT is really a special occasion buy if I even bother with it, and I often don't just because I'm on a tight budget lol

I can't wait to get my hands on my collection! Honestly I'm not worried about the level of opaque especially with the lighter colors. I tend to not order them often because they always need more coats. I can't wait for the teal and that cornflower blue. ❤

Honest opinions are appreciated. I sometimes use reviews (especially from reviewers that I trust) when I'm on the fence about a product and it sometimes sways me one way or the other. For this collection, I already decided to purchase before watching reviews, so I will try them out and make my own opinion when I get them, but it's good to hear about what I may experience in advance.

I bought the set, the holo bag got me and the 4 colors are all my jam. I'm excited for a teal that is actually teal finally. I'm ok with 3 coats, but I'm usually good with two thicker ones on my shorter nails and a quick dry topper.

I grabbed blush money and spy glass because I'm a sucker for those colors and formulas. 3 coats is not a deal breaker for me because I do 3 coats of almost every polish I wear! 🤣🙏

The purple glitter is pretty because the tiny square glitters make this polish stand out, but sadly I didn’t find anything unique in this collection 😞

That first color, Blush Money, is such a total Barbie pink color! I love all these colors and finishes, but Blush Money made me giggle a bit. 😄
Im surprised at how sheer most of these are, especially compared to the rest of the catalog being very very very opaque in 1-2 coats. I think the only 3 coater I can think of is the Milky White Shimmer which was marketed as being intentionally sheer 🥲
I’m hoping we get more polishes in the Teal No Lies formula. I’ve been loving the shimmery/shifty releases over the last year like Tax Haven and I’m Rover It.
The teal is my favorite from this set.

I can understand your point on the polish opacity, it's a reason I've lessened expanding my ILNP collection (i often needed 4 or more layers with that brand). In relation to my HT polishes, I always do three layers with any of my glitters (be ittbe crushed, chunkys, or linears) out of habit

I find I prefer three coats for most polish I wear but the more expensive, the more it irks me. More so for Cirque though. I love that you mentioned opacity, especially considering the price point of the brand. It is fair to say that for their price they should be better! I never have time for 3 coaters so it could be I will also wear these in 2 coats only. My nail plates are on the shorter side so maybe I won't notice it too much if they are more sheer 😂
Love this!! I love this collection sooo much! I totally understand your opinion on opacity. For my part, I always apply three coats anyways to protect my nails, and for this collection I loveeee that it takes three coats because you get so much depth from each of them!

Thank you for the honest reviews Kelli, I love to hear what you have to say because it helps me to invest my money more intentionally 😊 sometimes I really want something and then I get disappointed is better to know ahead of time what your getting. That being said I didn’t grab the royalty collection, the colors don’t speak to me 😅 I did find them uninteresting. 😊 I will wait for the next release and save up my money. Again awesome review and thank you 🙏🏼
Shaking polish by hand also introduces air bubbles, which can end up in your manicure. I love my mixer, so glad I got one!
Thank you for this review! I had bought Teal No Lies in the sale but skipped the others. I was debating another purchase for Blush Money and Spyglass, but Spyglass is too sheer and Blush Money will be too dark for me for what I want it for. I am now tempted by the purple glitter however as I am cool toned and have short nails, so two coats will probably be enough!

Off topic, I stopped at two random Ulta stores and the Orly section was completely decimated, when I asked about the collab polishes, they said they have no clue if they were ever going to get any more Orly let alone Collabs polishes.
They are going to be restocking them as they sell out - including the collab shades! I think those new Ulta shades are flying off the shelves at the moment 😅😅

They had exactly one bottle of each of the colors I wanted. I grabbed them & did a little happy dance.
I just got my set and I love the colours. I have shorter nails so I don’t mind doing 3 thin coats. I was thinking it would be fun to use the jellies as a topper. Great review!

I'm also big on this colour story, I think it mighr be ny fave HT colour story ever! I picked up all four and they're arriving tomorrow, will be interesting to see how I get on. My nails are so short i rarely need more than two coats of anything HT so I'm curious now! I think I'll like the teal and the purple best. Again, like you, I love fun glitter shapes.
I can’t imagine how long these videos take and I do appreciate them. However for limited edition polishes, I do wish these kind of videos came out before the launch or at time of launch to help with purchasing.
I would love to be able to do that! Unfortunately I didn't receive these until after launch :( I believe HT has strict guidelines about releasing photos/videos before they are launched though. I do get some brands ahead of time and I review those early when I can!
Great review. Honestly need to play with them first to decide if it's worth the extra coats. Love the purple and teal. Undecided on the other 2 but I bought them all including the bag.

I think it's so important for reviews to be honest! It's what turned me off the RUclips beauty space that there were barely any criticisms any more and there was no way to tell who was sponsored or not. I appreciate your genuine opinion even as Holo Taco fan!
I work in a lab and everything made specifically for labs is so much more expensive! Even things like regular bleach are at least 3x more expensive if you buy them at lab supply stores.
And I definitely wasn't tempted to bring my polishes to work after seeing your short...

When I was a teenager I did used to get offended when people didn’t like the things I liked on RUclips, but when I was older I realized everyone is different and everyone likes different things. The world would be pretty boring and predictable if we all liked the same thing. lol No need to be offended as long as people are courteous about it and you are always kind, even with bad or not perfect reviews of things. ❤
I just bought this collection, I’m hoping it thickens up and becomes more opaque with use. Sometimes HT polishes are thin to start and less opaque, but with more use they become better…but not always. 😝
Shimmer, and jelly costs... I do like these the way are because I also experiment using them as toppers as well. One cost of
Spyglass is SPECTACULAR over one cost of Peri social... AND what do you pink also!

I find the vevor vortex mixer does a great job, especially with magnetics.
I love Holo Taco. These colors are beautiful. I've kind of gotten away from them because of how difficult they are to remove. I gather polish to do manicures at a nursing home and I have to use something that's easier to remove like ILNP or Cirque. I do have many bottles from Holo Taco but I have to take what I'm doing into consideration and using my money wisely.
I'm not a big fan of sheer and jellies, so not enjoying this Royalty collection like the previous one. I think the teal is my favorite but mine is a little thick; it's different from other colors from HT, in the good way. I preferred the formulas in the last Royalty set better, though. I'm not a big fan of pink in general but the sparkle in this one is nice. I think the purple was the one I liked least and I'm a big fan of purple polish so that's a surprise.
I find voting for the Royalty colors, what I prefer is never chosen. But that's ok since I have so many other polishes to wear.
I think you gave a balanced, fair review and don't let anyone tell you different!
I have already ordered and was waiting patiently for this, I NEVER want to do 3 coats of anything, I just don't have time, between base coat, 2 coats of polish and top coat it already takes up to an hour to do my nails, I don't have the patience to add another coat in there. Thank you for your honest review and I am still excited for it to arrive.
I think there are ways to make these polishes work - maybe one coat of a similar coat underneath plus a coat of these on top to give a more solid look without too many coats!! 🥰
honesty is so rare these days and i hope you know we appreciate that SO MUCH! to me, 3 coaters are a no go because it gives me more chances to eff up my mani 😂
Yeah, I do love an intentionally sheer look but if it doesn't look good before I hit the three coat mark, I'm not usually a fan lol

It does have a similar vibe! I actually think I like these slightly larger glitters more, it's so sparkly! I hope they make more colors in it 😅
