I inherited a Huskylock 234D and the ol’ gal was totally seized up. Having never worked with a serger, I assumed the motor was shot. You saved the day in less than 5 minutes! Thank you 😁
I was ready to throw my brand new overlocker out. I used it a few times, then it went to the store room, outside, because at the time I needed the space. Been struggling to get it to work for a while, thought it's broken. Wow!!!!!!! This is the best advice I received in a long time. Oiled it, left it over night, and it's working like a bomb😁😁. Thank you sooooo much.
HOLY COW! I bought a Huskyloc 936 from an online auction. I could not move the hand wheel AT ALL. I oiled the looper and tried to work the oil in by manipulating the hand wheel back and forth. I stopped to let the video play out so I would know what the other main cause was incase this didn't work. I hit play and started moving the hand wheel again and EUREKA. It had already released. Thanks so much. Taught me how important oiling that looper is.
Thank you, thank you - I pulled out my Pfaff Hobbylock 793 serger - also a German brand but machine made in Japan. it was 'frozen' as shown in your video! I tried working the flywheel and it stayed frozen - I did like you said - a drop of oil placed as described and left it for a couple of hours - and it was starting to loosen - I left it overnight and viola - I now have a working serger again. I can't say thank you enough.
Thank you! Thank You! Thought I had broken the machine. My Juki hand wheel would not turn completely. Where am I going to get someone the fix it in this pandemic! So glad people like you post on the internet. Alicia
Wow Alex, thank you thankyou - had my second hand Elna overlocker (never heard the term serger in New Zealand) for 35 years, and ‘you’ have fixed it for me, it was on its way to the tip.
Hi Alex, I can't thank you enough! Today I rescued a very clean Pfaff 776 overlocker next to the bin at a local second hand store. They said the wheel wasn't turning so they were tossing it. It doesn't have the cord or foot either so they couldn't test it. I may have a cord/pedal to fit. Haven't had a chance to have a really good inspection yet but I'm going to follow your advice tonight & give it a good oil. Fingers crossed.
Thank you so much! My mum gifted me her Janome overlocker that has almost ceased (it’s very “stiff” and the wheel difficult to turn). I was planning on taking it to the machine mechanic but I’ll give your fantastic tip a whirl! Cheers!
You are right about Bernette overlockers. I have an older model, a 234, and it still works. It is going in for servicing, because it has a new noise I don’t like, but their products do amaze me.
I have my mom's old bernette 234 that sat at my Grandma's for who knows how many years, and then in my house for the last 2 since Grandma passed... I am working on threading and am stuck on the lower looper because I can't turn the wheel. I had already applied some oil, thanks to you I now know I just need a little time for it to soak in and hopefully it will all be good. Thanks!
THANK YOU!!! I just bought an old bernina overlock from the 80-ties for a bargain (cca 45 USD), it was totally stuck. I did oli it, but apparently not enough. I thought I would have to sell as broken. Now it works perfectly!
Thanks a lot, I can't wait doing it on my Janome. The truth is it's stuck although I never used it at all! Really pissed me off. I hope your system works for me!
Hi, in this video you mentioned serger locking up could be 2 bearings. Needle bar and upper looper. Didn’t see where you oil for the needle bar. Help please
Great video. I recently bought my daughter a used huskey 34d but unfortunately Hermes must have dropped it from a height ...needles keep striking the plate , remove the needles and it runs fine. Not sure if something has been bent or perhaps knocked out of place but cannot figure it out.
Hi there Alex. Hello from Queensland Australia. I have a Burnette 234 which is about 37yrs old. Could you do or do you have a video showing exactly where the blades should be. Mine is not cutting & have a feeling the blades are not in the correct position. 😒 Thank you!
I have a question for you if you feel like answering it and get it in time. I am looking to buy a used Brother 1034D Serger and one that I am looking at says that the power comes on but the blade does not move. Is this machine just good for parts or is it fixable by a novice? Thank you even if you don't answer because you have some terrific videos.
Hi mate, my vintage overlocker has been sewing fine, but suddenly the foot pedal is jammed. I can overlock away with the handwheel, but not with the foot pedal all of a sudden. It was a donation to the sewing group I teach for disadvantaged adults, so I'd hate to lose it. Do you have any ideas what could be wrong? It was very kindly serviced just prior to being donated to us, so I'm stumped as to why it's gone wrong so quickly! :D
Hi Alex I have a newhome janome 743 it's old semi it the teeth only let me push the fabric through when the lever is up when its down the teeth dont move which causes the thread to jam would you have a clue what the reason could be? Also the stitch length seems jammed at 3 and will not move up.
haha.. bitter cold? try a British Columbia -42c winter day! i have a stuck tensioner knob on my serger... it doesn't seem to want to 'come off' and i don't want to brute force it off... any suggestions on how to get that sucker to move?
I can hear the motor I gave a really old Sergemate. Its pink. Was totally locked down when I got it and I oiled all parts and gradually worked it back to life. Today I was just going along and without warning . Just stopped completely . It doesnt apear to be rubbing or touching another part. Please do a video on how to put the lower looper back in once the wheel has been turned. Please please. I put the new looper on via assistance from repairman on messenger. But it was key to leave wheel in same position. Apparently I didnt screw on tight enough because it just fell off. That is my Old bernina discontinued model.
Hi I am looking at the Bernette 203. I am after the rolled hem foot and plate. and any other feet! Does anyone know if the Juki feet fit? Or if any other brands that are readily available work? THANKS SO MUCH @ALEX
My Janome 644D had the same problem. Removed casings and handwheel, oiled EVERYWHERE and let sit overnight. Loosened upper looper with gentle hammering on screwdriver and after replacing handwheel was able to start turning. Oiled everywhere again, replaced casings and it's working!
Hi Alex I follow for a long time, but I need help I got a "BERNINA BERNETTE 335 OVERLOCKER . 5 THREAD OVERLOCKER" is the firsts time I got a "5 "treads" I can not find much information on the web, any help would be appreciated. Take care :)
I have this exact machine but the three threader. It was recently given to me from a friend of my mother in law 😢 it worked beautifully first few days but now it's slowing down and it's stopped even though my foot is flat on the pedal. I hope it's not the motor PLEASE HELP 🤧🙏🙏🙏🙏
I have this and can’t get it to work right so I set it aside. Been trying for days. So I pulled out the new home 134 D and guess what? It’s locked up!!!! Wheel will not turn at all! Any help would be greatly appreciated as I want to make face masks
I’ve had my serger for 15 years and have not used in 8 years. now it won’t work. the needle will hand crank, but it won’t power on. only the light comes on but no motor working. it’s a White 1600 Speedylock serger
I bought a used serger, Brother 760DE, its wheel is pretty stuck. It turns if you use force but it is not easy. I'm trying to fix it. I have also oiled it, waited, oiled more. Now I used WD-40 (used for stuck engines in cars etc). Let's hope it will work one day. Here's about the process (installing a new upper looper etc): ruclips.net/video/uLfJLh-vI6o/видео.html

This was so helpful! A serger like this was given to me and this is exactly what was wrong - thanks!!
It worked! You were absolutely right. Oil in just a few places and I’m back to serving the next day. Thank you for making this video!
Thank you so much! My mum gifted me her Janome overlocker that has almost ceased (it’s very “stiff” and the wheel difficult to turn). I was planning on taking it to the machine mechanic but I’ll give your fantastic tip a whirl! Cheers!

Can you do a video showing to remove the face and side plastic on that serger machine, Alex?

is it possible to get parts for the 334D? The nylon gear split. I guess I'd be hard pressed to find a service manual or parts diagram?
dangggg this fixed my serger in about 2 minutes. THANK YOU!!
Thank you so much Mr., you save my day and a lot of issues mainly in this pandemic days

what would you consider a measure of last resort to unlock a seized serger?
Thanks v much. A bit of oil did the trick on my Janome overlocker. 👍👍👍
Where can I get that small part with 2 needle like pins under the needle
How do you fix the tension dials if the machine has rusted?

do you know how to repair a broken serger dial on Juki MO-644D
Mr. Alex please I need help with the upper looper it doesn’t move at all. How can I get it to move again. Thank you
I fix it yeah! The problem was that the looper came unscrew. Found the screw and fix it.
Amazing! Thank you! I thought I'd have to get out the screwdrivers and take it completely apart!!!
I can hear the motor
