🦋 More info below! 🦋
This Neostylis Lou Sneary has suffered crown rot on transport, so I treated it with this • Orchid grow room updat... I think the problem did not go away, so I decided to remove the affected crowns.
I am also unmounting this orchid, due to its high demand of water, more on my thoughts on mounted orchids here • Giving up mounted Orch...
Removal of the wood slab was pretty easy in this case, but I have seen worse cases.

Thank you, Dani for all your help. I’m in the West of the USA, Wyoming. It’s either hot or cold (mostly) and always dry. We are offered only Phalaenopsis the most. I’ve been cleaning and repotting all the orchids I’ve had and am developing a better sense of what I need to look for and paying particular attention to the healthiness of the plant rather than an orchid in bloom. The best part is learning from my mistakes. Glad I’ve spent the tutorial watch so many of your videos. It’s very therapeutic and I’m enjoying the process. You’re an excellent teacher.
This was just a great lesson of proper form when managing plant problems. Thank you!
Thanks for another excellent idea on how to remove mounted orchids. GREAT👌👌👌👌
Good video! I have many leafless orchids, that are all mounted, so this might come in handy. I think palette knife, which is thin and blunt, is perfect tool for this.
that's a great topic I have to say, nice video!
Going to get some Vandas this week
Please keep us posted on this plant!!
Very educational, good one!
1:39 ant near the yellow spot :-) ... excellent channel !!!
Hi Dannie,
Just wondering whether you could help me out please...
I recently received a phalaenopsis orchid as gift, and then I've been catching up with your videos like a drought desert meets water, and so far found them very helpful and educational, thank you very much for sharing your knowledge and experience! They are amazing :)
I repotted my phal into horticultural charcoal and a clay pot, it's now been a week since I repotted it. I only water it when the clay pot feels dry, and it is winter in Australia at the moment. As I watched your videos regarding "avoiding stem rot", I realized that I potted my phal stem a bit too deep in the media, so I managed to dig out some of the media from and away from the stem and the most bottom leave. However, as I did so, I noticed a bit brownish yellow discoloring of a few root tips where they connects to the bottom of the stem, and those root tips are a bit narrower where it connects than the rest part of the roots; I also noticed that the stem where the brownish yellow roots connects are kind of blackish, but just around the connection area and a tiny little bit under the connection site. I'm worried could it be a stem rot, please?.....
At the moment though, the leaves are still all green and quite pumper, looking healthy; and so far only one tip bud blasted out of 7 buds, all the flowers are still ok.
But, with the stem, do you think it might be a stem rot, please?
Thank you!
That was a nice treat for a Friday evening ... Shall now proceed to "gardening channel...
Its very good
I loved this video, I actually did a Cattleya orchid unmounting on my channel recently. xx
Dannie,I Love This.I think it's really Kool. What do you think could be used that is similar to this?Preferably something hanging.
I had crown rot going on in one of my phalaenopsis, I kept using hydrogen peroxide in the center and believe it or not it's now growing a new leaf and still has flowers. This was a few months ago. Might work for yours too 😊
Shuts receive d a beautiful white orchid with multi flowers and buds what is the best way to look after it - great video by the way.
I am in USA N.C. And I am wondering if I should have added the moss....😬 He hasn't done anything since I bought him 2months ago. The roots are still ok, but I am not sure if he is really happy..hmmm what to do...
Hello Dany, thanks for the video :). I need your advice: I recently purchased in the internet an oncidium but when it arrived it was mounted, it looks very healthy but my environment has less than 50% humidity and temperature like 25-30 Celsius. I want to unmout it and pot it but i’m afraid I will kill the roots they wrap all the wood and seem so fragile. The orchid has also Many aerial roots. What do you think I should do?
I am also considering un-mounting my Neofinetia. I have a similar problem with a couple of dead crowns and roots that keep dying. When I bought him (already mounted) He had so many long roots and looked cheerful, now he seems to struggle. I just wonder if they will be okay in LECA, because I have no bark right now. Anyway, great video. Greetings!
very interesting
The roots are not considered as arial roots and won't rot once planted?
love this video
Do you have an update on this Neostylis?
Anyone else saw the ant 😂 4:17
Mounted never worked for me, never
