I remember as a little girl my mom had a costume jewelry broach and the main diamond fell out so she gave that large glass gem to me. I literally sat for hours watching it shine in the sunlight, completely mesmerized! I am drawn to sparkly jewelry to this day! I, too, used to love playing dress up with mom's costume jewelry, her scarves, and on occasion would spritz on some perfume too. I watched intently as she applied her makeup, especially her lipstick, and I dreamed of the day when I would be pretty too wearing it. Aw, then I grew up, and the rules of fashion crept in. At first, I complied, and later in life, I ignored. Now, as an older woman, I see women around me who seem to not want to dress up at all. What happened to us?
Loved the jewelry video Kelly! I have gone from a jewelry fan in my 40's and 50's to a complete jewelry minimalist now that I'm in my 60's. I used to love statement necklaces and especially statement earrings. I donated them all about 5 years ago to a charity thrift shop. I can kick myself now when I find how much these pieces go for on on-line consignment sites. Now I only want to wear "real" jewelry which means that its pretty small. I need to get over it and get back to my more fashionable ways. My birthday is coming up and I think I will treat myself to a nice pair of statement earrings.
I mostly wear tee shirts from different organizations, jeans, and running shoes. Jewelry? Ridiculous! However, this video got me excited about jewelry. Necklaces aren't working for me so I found some bracelets and coordinating earrings. My happiness level is now off the charts. Thanks.
I think you can wear jewelry with any outfit. With that being said, it also SUPER IMPORTANT to make sure the pieces you pick resonate with your style. It's why I always the perfect outfit is clothes that work with your body, not against it; that fit; and are in your STYLE.
Great video, Kel!! I have always loved earrings but wore very simple necklaces. AYW has changed that. I now have a beautiful collection of necklaces that make me very happy when added to my outfits. ❤❤❤
I can. It's hard to find good quality pieces at a fair price. It's one of the reasons I started my Boutique. (You can read more about it here --> adoreyourwardrobe.com/shop-the-adore-your-wardrobe-boutique/). Otherwise, I feel like Kate Spade has great quality pieces that are affordable for their longevity.
Yes, you can actually outgrow jewelry. I’ve gained weight so rings don’t fit, necklaces are too short and bracelets won’t go around my wrist. I do love jewelry, however.
I understand that can happen, but when it does it is easier to adjust. Necklace and bracelet extenders allow you to wear pieces that might be too small now or resizing your rings to fit. It's easier to add length to jewelry than it is to add fabric to clothes.
Yep. I can no longer wear my original wedding band/ring & neither can my husband. Conditions like arthritis can also effect what kind of jewelry you can wear. Swollen fingers make rings difficult, Arthritic fingers have difficulty with small clasps. (I put magnets on the few necklaces I wear regularly) I am also very sensitive to metal, nickel in particular, so I have to have high quality nickel free jewelry or gold plated over silver or just 18k gold. I ended up with a lot of scarves & pins since neklaces are usually a no unless on a nylon or leather cord. I also have quite a few beaded cloth & crochet lace chokers that have loop button closures & no metal. Bracelets are usually stretch, leather, wood or plastic. Daily jewelry for me is just my wedding ring & a pair of gold stud earrings or gold hoops. Jewelry tends to get in my way since I use my hands a lot (art, crafts) so I only wear it when I go out.
Great video! ❤ I want to add one point .... if you have larger breasts, you know crew neck tops don't look good on you. You already know that V neck tops are your best friend. 😊 HOWEVER, you can create a V neck on a top, simply by wearing a necklace that creates a V. I love wearing crew neck T shirts with my nice paper clip gold necklace. Further, a pendant with a big charm like the one on this video creates a strong V that can really change the whole look!
Interesting, but sorry you just talk too much repeating yourself. 5 minutes into the video still nothing....I wonder if I have the nerve to watch till the end !
You know the best thing about RUclips. You can click out of videos you don’t like without tearing down the author. Maybe you didn’t know about that feature? Also, the internet is a big place. I don’t have to be everyone’s cup of tea. If you don’t like what I have to say, please find someone else who connects with you better. No hard feelings.

I think you can have both! I have some "real" pieces, and I have lots of costume jewelry too. I love mixing them together to keep people guessing. :)

Great quote!!

LOVE HEARING THIS! Sometimes we just have to step out of our comfort zones a bit to realize we might love something else even more.
I dress for the day according to what jewelry I want to wear. I make unique jewelry and own about 1,000 pieces.
I make jewelry too, and plan my pieces to accent each outfit I wear. I do that for family and friends, too.
Great video! Can you recommend a company or designer that makes quality jewelry at a good price?
