    My body type is really strange! I have had scoliosis my whole life…my back is humped and my neck is not straight up!! I also am very short waisted…so tucking things in makes me look like I have no body and makes my back look worse! I have long legs so I usually wear my shirts out…I can’t wear belts as that would mean I have to tuck things in. I love fashion, jewelry, shoes, etc. I’m 81 and most of my life I have struggled with what to wear. It hasn’t been easy. Do you have any suggestions as to what I can do. I have so many clothes that I buy but never wear as they look terrible on me. Any suggestions would be extremely helpful so I can stop wasting money. Just found your videos and love them. Thank you

    I really appreciate your calculator.
    I believe it is very accurate.
    While I do believe that you are correct regarding body shapes not changing due to general weight loss or weight gain...
    I disagree that body shapes stay the same for every woman from 14-100.
    Hormones can radically change a body shape.
    My body was one shape from 14-36...
    For the past +20 years, it has been a different shape, due to hormones and illness.
    I was an hourglass before I entered early menopause in my 30s.
    In one month, I went from a flat belly, wearing size 5 jeans, to a size 11... in 30 days due to drastic hormone problems!
    I grew up with no belly, always have to take up my waist in pants... to now carrying belly weight I never had before age 37.
    I had shapely hips until I lost my butt and hips to these same hormone illnesses and a sudden lack of ability to be athletic due to illness.
    I do not know for sure what the next 5-25 years will bring, but I am prepared to accept and love my apple shaped body, just as much as I loved my hourglass shaped body early in life!!

      Body Types don't change. Your shape can. Lots of people get shape and type confused. Type is about your measurements and how those measurements work together. Shape is about fit. When we are younger, things (like breasts, tummys, backsides) are tighter. It's easier to find clothes that fit. And when it is easy to find clothes that fit, you don't pay much attention to your body type. But as we get older and our body isn't as tight as it once was, fit becomes harder. I've mentored too many women who have lost and gained 80 lbs and their body type is the same, but their size and how things fit is different.

      All i know is I was a definite hourglass when I was younger.
      I modeled and was in beauty pagents, so I knew my measurements.
      My body radically changed when I went through an early menopause/poi.
      I will agree to disagree.
      My shape changed, not just my measurements....
      The belly is not that big, but that one measurements throws off my shape.

    I did the body type calculater and was a pear. I watched your videos on that body type but my question is: If I tuck in my top it only adds to my belly where most of my size comes from. If you take a side view thats what you see - a belly. if I wear clothes that are less fitting it does seem to hide that belly. and it is difficlut to find form fitting skirts and dresses that actually fit the smaller top. Not sure what I should do

    • @AdoreYourWardrobe
      @AdoreYourWardrobe  6 месяцев назад +2

      This is a great question. For fashion, there are two kinds of balance you want your outfit to have - horizontal and vertical.
      Horizontal is achieved when you dress for your body type. You put your body type into balance against the standard that is the hourglass.
      Vertical is achieved through fit. Both in how your clothes fit you and how they fit with each other. You need both.
      In your question, this is a vertical balance question. It is possible to find tops that fit and flatter you (even if you have a belly and a smaller top), but it will come down to finding one with the right neckline, in the right length, and made of the right material. All three of these things makes a HUGE difference in our appearance.

    You are right, I lost 30 lbs over the past year and I'm still the same shape. (I'm a 5'2" carrot, I need a whole new wardrobe, and I have never adored any of my clothes. Now what?)

      Congratulations on your weight loss! For me, understanding not only how to dress my body type, but also picking items that work with my lifestyle and personal style is the key to "LOVE". So many times we buy items we "see in the store or on someone else", but when we try and wear them they just aren't quite right. Start with thinking about each purchase through the filters of ...
      1. Does this work with my body type?
      2. How does this fit? Is it too big or too small?
      3. Is it in my style? (Both personal and lifestyle)
      Once you find a few pieces that you LOVE, it becomes easier to find others because you have that yardstick to work from.

    How does this relate to length of torso or length of legs, for example? I am an hourglass but clothing that looks good on an hourglass with long legs looks ridiculous on me. What to do?

    • @AdoreYourWardrobe
      @AdoreYourWardrobe  10 месяцев назад +1

      There are three things you need in order to have an amazing outfit - clothes that work with your body, not against it (also known as clothes that work with your body type), that fit, and are in your style.
      What you are asking about it is in regards to "FIT". Fit is going to personal to the "wearer".
      For example, you might need a pair of jeans with a 28" inseam, with a 10 inch front and 12 inch back rise. That's fit because another hourglass might need a 35" inseam with a 12 inch front and 14 inch back rise. You are both hourglass and should wear the same STYLE of clothes, but how those clothes fit you is different.

      @@AdoreYourWardrobeYes! I hate that they don't give you the rise measurement. Instead it's just "midrise" or "highrise" well that's not helpful. I don't see that much diff between the 2, they usually hit me at my naval & that's not where my natural waist is. From my narrowest point (waist ) to my crotch is pretty long. From waist to shoulder is short. And I take a 30" inseam & am just under 5'4". I used to buy Talls & hem them because the rise was more comfortable. Often petite sizing in a jacket or dress is a better proportion for me if the sleeves/skirt aren't too short.

      Why is it looking at a mirror that I look like a rectangle and my thighs aren't as huge and shoulders aren't as narrow as well as hips aren't too out..?? And I am 5'2".

    • @yensid4294
      @yensid4294 2 месяца назад

      Usually if the difference between your waist & hips is 10 inches or more, you are either an hourglass or a pear. My bust measurement actually exceeds my shoulder measurement. Blouses that button up are a nightmare, the shoulders are always too big. I usually avoid them.

    If the hourglass shape is the standard, why are runways filled with rectangles?

    • @AdoreYourWardrobe
      @AdoreYourWardrobe  6 месяцев назад +1

      Runways are filled with "hangers". They want the clothes to "hang off" the models so people can envision them on anyone. And if you are buying your clothes off the runway, you don't need this video.
