Frank, I'm so impressed that you actually took my advices to review this "dead romance". Indeed, you caught the vibe, the main idea of this song was from Ka Kui (lead singer). You never believe this song is actually talking about a famous serial killer who used to kill ladies in rainy nights, and Ka Kui managed to bring this idea into an instrumental song. Pink Floyd definitely inspired them a lot as they tried to apply different 80's rock elements in their own songs. Really appreciated your review on this one!
Ivan so good you made this suggestion and thanks for the story behind the music. It sounds spectacular!👏🏽 Even Frank sang a little.😘. Thanks for that 🙏🏽
This album was recorded in mid of 80s and reissued in 90s. Yes band leader - ka kui liked Pink Floyd a lot and he used fender start mostly. Thanks for your reaction 👏🏻👍🏻
Before people finds Kui’s music are bland, let me explain something. To some extent, their music are indeed, fairly bland, and the band members would agree with that.........In a documentary (recorded after his death), his sister recalled asking him “Isn’t your music supposed to be cool and edgy? Why would you write these pop tunes?” And he answered “I wrote these 4 chords ballads because my record label forced me to.”.......Here are some backgrounds to the foreigners: Hong Kong music at the time were mostly unoriginal. A lot of the songs were purchased from foreign hits, once the record companies have got the copyright license, they just have to find a lyricist to write the lyrics in Cantonese, and then having someone to sing on it......Even for songs that were original, music producers would have the vocals standing out way too much in the mix, and other instruments were just hidden at the background. Basically, no one cares about the music. The “manufactured pop stars” are the products, not the music. Up to these days, Hong Kong people are still very uneducated musically speaking. So they actually liked the crap the record companies feeds them. Sappy ballads are all they liked, which has no musical substance. And they are way too overemphasising on the lyrics......Kui wanted to change all that......Now you have a bit of the background. Let’s go back to where it all started....The band’s earlier works were still very melodic (pop-ish), but they were more in the metal/psychedelic territory. Definitely more experimental and musically sophisticated......Later on, they got signed by a record label. And they had to dumbed down their music, to fine tuned to the terrible taste of the Hong Kong market. The band knew exactly what they were sacrificing in music, in exchange of growing their fan base. As much as they didn’t like it, they took this as an opportunity to educate their fans. If they were told by the label that they had to write a sappy ballad, they would make sure that the arrangement is good, the solo is great, they will throw a Dorian chord here and there.....slowly feeding musical ideas into their audience, to fight against the dumb pop culture at the time......However, the band didn’t actually like some of the music they have put out. In addition to that, there were too much restrictions on their songwritings......While educating the local audiences is great, but after getting big in Hong Kong, they wanted to play the music they actually liked. Japan was known to have more tolerance in experimental music, a place that different music genres can coexist. So the next step for the band was to conquer the Japanese market (Kui even dreamed about making an instrumental album one day)......That leads to what happened in Japan.......Many blame Kui’s death on the dumb Hong Kong media, music authorities, fans, who celebrated bad music and pop culture, which the band had to find more sophisticated audiences in Japan as a result...
You must have noticed that a lot of their songs ends with a solo fade out. This decision is probably made by their record company (to cater for the general public who are musically illiterate, people who believes that the vocal and the main melody are all that matters in music). So that these pop cultured fans can skip the solo (where there are no singing) when they are listening to the song. I’m sure the radio would also cut these songs short. For this reason, the band wouldn’t allowed to have a long solo in the middle.......Even MTV in the US would play the entire Enter Sandman with a 01:13 mins intro in it. Can you imagine how disrespectful the Hong Kong music industry were to music? Record companies would interfere the creativity of a songwriter. And the radio would cut out the entire solo (or else the song would received no air play) just because there are no singing in it.......there are also a lot of other “rules” in the industry (they have to go to TV game shows to maintain their TV exposure. And they have to “make friends” with other stakeholders.... ) which the band actually hates but they had to play along with it........With all these mentioned, you would appreciate more on how far the band have made in their music career. And you would relate better to the “sacrifices”, “regrets”, “giving up the dreams” themes in their lyrics...
Kui once famously said “There is no music industry in Hong Kong, there is only an entertainment industry.” Which the statement still holds true today. The entertainment industry was as corrupted as it can be. They would find good looking people and manufacture them into “pop stars”. Make them appearing in movies, TV shows, news papers, and publishing music albums for them, to increase their exposure in the media. So that they can get huge commercial deals. In addition. they would create a lot of merchandise out of the pop stars to generate extra incomes. Fake fans were hired to make the pop stars appeared more influential, fake news were created to attack their competitors......Basically, the pop stars are the product, not the music, the music is just a tool to keep up the pop stars’ exposure in the media, no one cares about its quality. The general public are musically uneducated, they can’t tell what is good or bad anyway. The entertainment industry stinks a lot, which it is so anti-art, anti-music, purely based on commercial success. Imagine how tough it is for real musicians to survive...

Frank, you need to react to the album "Paebiru (Caminho da Montanha do Sol)" by Zé Ramalho and Lula Cortês. It is an experimental album and has already been one of the rarest albums. You will love.
They are from Hong Kong. The majority of the people in China dont even understand (orally and written) cantonese, the language which the band sings in.
i am curious what's your reaction about this band's song "Back Here Again" (name of band: EggPlant) ruclips.net/video/x3bDhtuC5yk/видео.html this is their first song and....there are other two songs relatived (in their later album, makes the three songs become a whole story. And the early version of this song is here, you can hear every band member sang in this song ruclips.net/video/Lly5TQgMExM/видео.html
In fact Hong Kong have more great band, not just Beyond. They should be more well-known,but they are Hong Kong band so they can no.

I remember they mentioned the boy in the photo is KaKui, tell me if I’m wrong, thanks
It's a random boy photoed by Paul Wong 黃貫中. There's four members' childhood photo on the back cover of the record.
This song is really nice, kui is a musician, but Hong Kong focuses only on commercial music and make star, not care what’s really music, only kui care
Nice
Please react more songs from beyond

Frank, you need to react to the album "Paebiru (Caminho da Montanha do Sol)" by Zé Ramalho and Lula Cortês. It is an experimental album and has already been one of the rarest albums. You will love.

So pink floyd and david Gilmour
Beyond 我的神
I think you should watch their live version instead of recorded one
They are from Hong Kong. The majority of the people in China dont even understand (orally and written) cantonese, the language which the band sings in.
Exactly
Before part 2, It seem like David Gilmour would start his voice and sang this song
Please react also BEYOND - PARADISE song that song release after their lead vocal WONG KA KUI dies it’s very beautiful song
This is the Pink Floyd's stuff...
i am curious what's your reaction about this band's song "Back Here Again"
(name of band: EggPlant)
ruclips.net/video/x3bDhtuC5yk/видео.html
this is their first song and....there are other two songs relatived (in their later album, makes the three songs become a whole story. Well, they use the flashback way to do this.
by the way , the language they sing, is taiwanese.
correction : Sorry for my wrong typing. Their name is "EggPlantEgg"
I didn't expect Beyond's first album is in your reaction list!! The song Myth is also one of their greatest, highly recommended for this song

I would like to recommend you to react for more beyond like beyond不再犹豫
More Beyond? Maybe the more Beyond to your level only…usually foreigners have better education in arts and music so they should listened to a different lists to suited their level…
繼續沉醉 - good groove, good sound, they produced this track when they were signed in Japan, better production!
ruclips.net/video/uyVv56wu9kE/видео.html
早班火車 - a more unique sappy ballad, also produce in Japan
ruclips.net/video/PE9IUuRrTFU/видео.html
無語問蒼天 - epic ballad about life,
also produce in Japan
ruclips.net/video/qNDYq1kfQzM/видео.html
大時代 - wrote after lead singer passed away, sounds more like the type of music they enjoy to play
ruclips.net/video/cDUxKjUYU1Y/видео.html
遊戲 - also wrote after lead singer passed away, sounds more like the type of music they enjoy to play

Sitting alone on the corner of the road, the cold wind awakened
Silently accompanied by my lonely shadow
I just want to hug the guitar tightly and express bitterness
Rush in my heart
Put aside the reality and have no worries
As if I have everything around
Seems to build a gap with others
Fill the empty glass with a few spirits
Wash away sorrow with that wine
When will the old dear friends meet again?
I hope to get together and tell each other about the past
Rush in my heart
Put aside the reality and have no worries
As if I have everything around
Seems to build a gap with others
Rush in my heart
Put aside the reality and have no worries
As if I have everything around
Seems to build a gap with others

Can you do some reaction for "wubai", who made great music and having a unique Taiwan style. "挪威的森林" is one of his greatest hit around asia. Really appreciate if you can made a video about him.
Pink Floyd影响了一大批rockers.

Hi Frank, try this 《半斤八兩》ruclips.net/video/IdE7Ik4ldWE/видео.html It's a song from other singer, Beyond turn it into rock style by recomposing it while the lyrics remained the same.
And 《遙遠的Paradise》ruclips.net/video/rtJFvYZAgTw/видео.html which is dedicated to Ka Kui the next year after he gone
I feel u can like the both
Beyond -早班火車(early train)
Please please please
ruclips.net/video/PE9IUuRrTFU/видео.html
You are listening to an instrumental part 1 of the song "Dead Domance" and not the song 再見理想, the single version 再見理想 should be this one: ruclips.net/video/RFgZusihMeU/видео.html
I would suggest you put more focus on the music but not the video because most of them are not produced by Beyond and some of them did not correctly present the message of Beyond's song as they should especially those karaoke versions.
我是憤怒
冷雨夜
At least you don't have to search for translation loll..
Thanks but Please HONG KONG is not China. Love ya.
There are more Chinese fans so yeah
