I'm also a Surf Fishing guide in the Pawleys island area and have been involved with Guiding for over 50 years and saltwater fishing for over 60 years. Tying all those over hand knots and tightening the knots without wetting them creates weak points due to friction from the knot tightening. Each to their own but using braid for Surf Fishing is not a good idea. It has a much lower abrasion resistance and does not give any stretch.
Nice to meet a fellow guide! The research I’ve done on knot tying show the opposite - you get a stronger knot when you don’t wet it. I love braid because it casts better and you get more capacity on your reel but you’re right there is no such thing as an abrasion resistant braid.
