    You are the only crochet teacher that I listen to on RUclips. Believe me, I’ve tried to learn various crochet stitches from other teachers - I must say that you are the BEST! I’ve praised you on my Facebook. You taught me how to crochet every stitch since the Fall of 2018. May I send you some pictures?

    I love all your video tutorials, they're all very clear and and easy to understand. I tried the star stitch watching other videos and they all differ on how the last stitch is worked, I followed your instructions, managed to crochet the star stitch but still having great difficulty with the first and last stitches which has to do with my bad workmanship and not knowing where to place the hook. I shall keep trying...

    I love this look and am using a pretty variegated yarn but one end is definitely going crooked! Looking at the front it’s the left side.

    • @bellacococrochet
      @bellacococrochet  2 года назад

      It's normal for the stitch to be a little bumpy at the sides, but I would double check that you're working the pattern correctly 😊 Once you've finished you can work a simple edging of double crochet stitches (UK term) which will make the whole thing look neater and more even.

    You actually did that half double crochet in a stitch you'd already used. I watched that very closely then rewatched it two more times to make sure I was not mistaken. Was your chain count incorrect?

  • @emssaunders1819

    This tutorial is perfect! I love this stitch and you're so easy to follow along with. Does this stitch work going round a corner like a border? I'm making a blanket centre outwards and would love to use this but not sure if it would work or not 🤔

    • @bellacococrochet
      @bellacococrochet  2 года назад +1

      Thank you, I'm glad you like it! 😊 If you made a base round of double crochet stitches (UK terms) around your blanket you could certainly have a go at working the star stitch, however I think it may cause the border to bunch up slightly due to the way it's worked. I do have a blog post outlining some of my favourite crochet borders that could give you some inspiration on what stitch to use instead: bellacococrochet.com/my-favourite-crochet-borders/

    Hi Bella, love your tutorials! Especially as a leftie new to crocheting. I'm stuck on exactly where to insert the hook when I turn my work to start row 2. I don't know how to make sure I'm picking up the correct stitch. Do you have any advice on this? Many thanks in advance!

    • @bellacococrochet
      @bellacococrochet  2 года назад

      Thank you, I'm glad you like them! 😊 I would recommend using a stitch marker to help you - at the end of row one, as you complete your final stitch, you can pop a stitch marker through the top. Then when you chain one and turn, it should be easy to see where you need to insert your hook.

    Can you crochet star stitch around corners (for a square baby blanket)?

    • @bellacococrochet
      @bellacococrochet  2 года назад

      I don't think star stitch would work on a border due to the way the first star gathers together the chain stitches. I do have a blog post with some other great border ideas here though: bellacococrochet.com/my-favourite-crochet-borders/ 😊

    I have done this stitch very carefully and re-watched your video many times. Is it correct that one edge looks very "full" where the other edge has "holes"in it?

    I’m waiting to make a baby blanket out of this stitch have any suggestions on how big my foundation Chain should be?

    • @bellacococrochet
      @bellacococrochet  3 года назад

      It's hard to give an exact figure as it will all depend on the yarn and hook you are using as well as your own personal tension. The best way would be to make a small swatch such as a chain of 15, work a few rows and then measure it so you can work out how many to chain for a larger blanket 😊

    You use dc across the top of the stars but I’ve seen half treble used also.
    Is there a right or wrong or just personal preference?

    • @bellacococrochet
      @bellacococrochet  4 года назад +1

      There's no right or wrong way, it's just personal preference. You can try both and see which you prefer 🙂

    • @bellacococrochet
      @bellacococrochet  2 года назад

      Not all crochet stitches work up with perfectly straight edges; you can simply add a round of double crochet stitches (UK terms) once you have finished to help it look nice and neat 😊

    • @gracelee1068
      @gracelee1068 8 лет назад

      Crochet hooks at Micheal's are only like 2 or 3 dollars, and about 6 or 10 dollars for a set of 3.25mm-6mm usually. A Rainbow Loom hook would work but I would move to metal, wood, or plastic crochet hooks. :)
