Among The Damned
I worked with Edwin in a tattoo shop in Southern California. Got to know him on a personal level. He was actually a great dude, would give you the shirt off his back. Everybody has their own demons. Rest in power Edwin.
Wow, I knew Edwin when I was a teenager. He would invite my first band in high school to play at his compound(?) in Temecula. I remember there being wrestling events and genre-less shows where punk, metal and hardcore bands would play to audiences of sometimes no one and sometimes 100’s of kids. It was wild. Definitely had their CD and a few videos he would give out, but of course those have been lost to time. Just finding out he passed. He was always super kind and very supportive of independent bands in the area. Cool video. Much respect.

Wow you're in L.A. Guns 😮, also that's cool that you knew this guy
Thats crazy, im the new drummer of a band called mob attack, and were practicing at that compound in the space that edwin did all of his self-torture videos and live shows. Currently the property is owned by Eva O, sweet lady who loved edwin. Shame i never got to meet him, although the cameras he filmed himself on are still running to this day, so in a sense its like edwin is watching us practice our dbeat.
Wants to make music that's not laughed at
First song "I AM, PUMPKIN MAN"
😅
Except it's actually good
5:50 pumpkin man
6:03 coffin bangers
6:11 horronomicon
Bro 🤣🤣🤣🤣
ngl pumpkin man is better because of his comment.
It's sad that he cut himself off from everyone and then took his own life.
I hope he's found peace now.
Rest in power, Edwin.
12:44 Correction: Eva O. never actually was in a relationship with serial killer Richard Ramirez, when she was youthful she wrote numerous love letters to him after his arrest and Ramirez responded to some of them, along with gifting her some of his own possessions - Eva was more of a “Groupie” to Ramirez, as morbid as that sounds.
Eva O. was married to the frontman of the LA-based deathrock band Christian Death, Rozz Williams (and would later form the band Shadow Project with him) until Williams committed suicide in 1998. (I learned a lot of things about her when I was in my “Goth” phase when I was a teenager, she fronted the punk band Super Heroines in the 80’s (and wrote a song about Richard Ramirez called “Night Stalker”), she’s often credited as the ‘Godmother of Goth’.)
Great video 👍
“After reading this article in People Magazine, I wrote a song (Night Stalker) about him when he had just got arrested. I wanted him to hear it. In the beginning, people were bugging him a lot, so he blocked all visitors, and when we started writing, he got a court order so I could visit. I was his only visitor while he was in Los Angeles County for a good four or five years, if not more. We were pretty close for a long time. When he went to Orange County, he opened it up again, and he got bombarded by everybody, so I stopped."
Literally for years, and ramirez came out and said he loved her. Doesn't because they didn't have a physical act doesn't mean they didn't have a relationship. Plenty of ppl locked up do
"She spent a lot of time with Richard Ramirez, with whom she claims she was in a relationship. She corresponded with him after his incarceration for a brief time, but did not meet him before his notorious killings made him famous. Ramirez committed several murders in San Francisco and stood trial there."

Many people are called many different things - and "Godmother/Godfather of X" is just some stupid expression the media uses.

FINALLY, someone is covering Edwin/Kettle Cadaver. I saw Dead Hands Dig Deep on Hulu about 7 years ago and was blown away. Loved every second. Such a morbid story about a morbid person. Thanks for the content!
😂 band was a joke and so was the documentary.
If he wasn't born in to money he would have had a lot more to whine about.
@@braxtongreenwell5482 More money more problems some have said but I don't know.
i usually dont feel much when it comes to situations like this, but listening to that short clip of him talking about eva was heartwrenching.
It doesn't sound like Kettle Cadaver is my kinda thing personally, but the guy had a seriously excellent visual sensibility. The "Eva" sculpture looks genuinely unsettling, I like that he spent a lot of time on the face and costume, yet that one outstretched hand, he intentionally left as a gnarled tree limb, very effective. I never knew about them and it's sad to hear that he took his own life. "Coffin Bangers" I just love that title for a song. In a world filled with artists who capitulate to the music industry, fans ect, it's always inspiring to hear about people who truly seek their own vision and deliver.
I'm from the area and it's cool to see Edwin and Kettle Cadaver be covered. One of my favorite stories of Edwin is when some kids at some party started talking about how Danzig was there only to find it was just Edwin. 😂
I guess its time related huh? Because he resembles Graves more than Danzig especially during that time. Danzig was short but stacked.
@@nwerd7584 Yet Edwin's music sounds like Samhain, which was fronted by Danzig.

Another thing that wasn’t mentioned is that Edwin is actually from Norway, him and his family immigrated to the states when he was a kid

Awesome video!
I met Eva O back in 2005. She traveled with us (on bus in the band I was playing in called “Seraphim Shock”) from Las Vegas to Hollywood. I had no idea who she was at the time. But I later was told she was in the band Christian Death. She was really friendly and down to earth. I ended up talking with her for hours. She never once mentioned anything of her following. Which made me respect her even more. She was very humble.
It’s unfortunate that she seems to have a tragic past with her boyfriends. Edwin, Rozz Williams, Richard Ramirez. All are deceased.
Thank you for making this interesting video.
I see a pattern.
I remember your band
I love Seraphim Shock! So cool you played for them
Her type seems to be a very healthy men 😊
Correction: Devon was the drummer and Corwin was the guitar player.
Growing up in riverside county and being close friends with some of the guys in the band, I can tell you these guys were good people. The Mower Shack days were fun. It was like some lawless house where anything could happen. A beacon for fucked up kids to go and listen to music and party. Sure, some people were out there and did some wild stuff but a lot of good people hung around there. Also, Sure, some bad people were around too but overall I have nothing but fond memories over there.
I was there too, great times and bad times but that is life. Ed was a cool dude that was extremely dedicated to his art. I was in the Temecula scene from 96 to 02 from Chicanery to Meat Grinder!
I grew up in Lake Elsinore (right next to Temecula) and we were big into the Christian hardcore scene. I remember meeting Edwin outside of a show and he was handing out flyers for one of his shows. He seemed super genuine, he wasn't bashing us for being Christian or anything; he was just saying "You guys are into extreme and emotional music, you should come check out my show". I wish I would have, that would have been pretty awesome.
That's great to hear!

The big difference between Edwin and most other performers is that most performers adopt personas on stage to entertain, whereas Edwin's lifestyle and method of artistic expression walked around with him, slept with him, was him. He was the person on stage even when he wasn't on stage. Most other shock artists can't say the same.
Most other artists are probably happier having a stage persona and separating that from personal life.

I first met Edwin at a bar through a mutual friend, and he was an intense guy for sure, but was genuinely interested in hearing other people’s stories.
His band and my band played a lot of the same venues, and we were sort of lumped in with any visual/metal bands so we had knowledge of each other. We still have a copy of the “A Taste of Blood” DVD at our studio, and I have to say it is brutal to watch!!!
Our lead singer has actually been in the back house that Edwin built. He was showing him around and pointing out all of the weapons and such, and then said “and over there is my He-Man collection’…and sure enough he had a collection of He-Man action figures.
The craziest thing I remember him doing (aside from what you couldn’t describe) was nailing his arms to a 2x4 at the Showcase theater in Corona, CA and then pretty much passing out.
What was your band name?
🗑
Hes from my hometown. It was a right of passage to play shows with Kettle. He was def out of this world on stage, but he was a great dude in person.

I met him about 15 or so years ago at a record shop/live stage in Medford, Oregon as him and the band were touring up the West Coast. We shook hands, talked for quite a while about all sorts of stuff, went through black metal albums. It was cool getting to know him a little bit... before we parted ways he gave me one of their 'A Taste of Blood' DVDs. Edwin lived a rough and extreme life, suffered a broken heart of the worst kind and tragically left this world by his own hand far too young, far too soon. He was a genuinely warm and kind person in my experience, and I was happy to have met him. There's a wondrous, unspeakable Throne in Hell for him to reign upon in Eternal Black Glory with unending ale and dope always at hand... HAILS, brother.

Honorable mention,,,, The Genitorturers. They are JUST as crazy off stage, as they are, on stage.
I saw them years ago (very early ‘00s I believe) and they weren’t really that crazy. Maybe I caught them on an off day lol. The craziest shit I’ve experienced was a local black metal band in the ‘90s who cut open pigs on stage and literally threw the blood at us in the audience aside from other things. The club smelled like burning skin during their show. I was, like, 15.
I saw the Genitorturers years ago, had to be in the 90s. The singer did the whole set in an electric chair. Marilyn Manson played that night too, can't remember who opened.

Another amazing video of an interesting band/musician I never heard of 👏 the theme of the "small town emptiness" feelings kinda reminds me of Primus and Les Claypool's stories about growing up in El Sobrant, CA, a fishing town where nothing ever happens and there are no opportunities of personal growth
What I hear from Edwin is: full mental despair. His life is very very tragic. Probably the tragedy lies in his youth...sad

Wrong about his birth. Edwin Borsheim was born in 1977 in Klepp, west coast of Norway. 20 min drive from Stavanger. His father was the respected blues guitarist, Per Lorentz Borsheim, who died in 1985, only 38 years old. Edwin moved with his mother to California when he was 13. He was obviously deeply demon possessed.
