- We took Oliver to the Lost Coast, one of the most hauntingly beautiful and remote stretches of coastline in California! Watch as he digs in a totally deserted black sand beach, dodges huge waves, and grabs most of his dad's peanut butter sandwich. Music credits and links below:

You are so right, Sandra. I rewatch this video all this time. It's the one video I keep coming back to the most. It's just so expressive. I can feel the love when Oliver and I are eating that sandwich, and when we are resting on the beach with my arm around him. I love him so much.

My second Beagle passed away three years ago yesterday 😢 She was my second Beagle rescued off death row and my other wandered up to our house, half dead and 700 bucks at the vet making sure first, that he would even live and secondly that he would have quality of life. He had both and was with us for 10 years, the second for 12 years. Thanks for all of these Oliver videos, it makes not having my own Beagle up on the bed with me a lot less lonesome

It's probably a small comfort, Phil, but you made sure they knew love. Even if it doesn't feel like it, that's truly an awesome thing! It's strange, with my pups in the twilights of their years, how much love they've shown me. It makes what love I show them feel like such a pittance. I dread the day I lose them.

I lost my beagle Daisy on 28th May 2020 she had a tumour and was 10yo. We said no more dogs after Daisy, but on 25th October I will be collecting a 9 week old dog beagle, can't wait to get him. I have had beagles since 1993.
I loved the view of Oliver and one of his fathers in deep contemplation as they lay on the beach, gazing out at the ocean.

He looks so happy and thriving at being on the beach. At one point it did look like he was thinking, where are all the other dogs from before?
My parents always had beagles. They still have one. And I just a few days ago realized what makes them so cute and charming. It's that beagles are the best breed at being snarky. They are masters at it. They lay on the charm, then comes the snark. And you fall victim to it. Even if the snark slips into snide. It just melts your heart.
It must have been what Charles Schultz noticed about beagles. Because Snoopy was unparalleled in snide, and we loved him for it.
It's like they are playing a trick on you, getting you to believe one thing is on their mind while they plot their stratagem to do something else. And they know they can get away with it because they are so charming with those ears, and nose, and coloring.
They play us like violins.
And Oliver's nickname could be Paganini.
Grabbing his leash and running with it. What more could you ever hope to see? It's so cute, and sweet, and a bit snarky.

Wow, incredible footage. Looks like scenes you’d see in movies. What a beautiful place, it looks like you’re at a place that no one has ever been to before. Oliver is so cute the way he picks his lead up and those big floppy ears as he’s running, who could resist.

Glad you liked it! I don't think you can surf this part of the coast, alas! There were lots of warning signs on the beach about rip tides. I think those things bobbing in the water are some kind of seaweed--we were trying to figure out what they were while we were walking on the beach. (We were hoping they might be sea otters, but no such luck!)
Oliver the Beagle. That would have been awesome if they were sea otters. I’m thinking if you guys aren’t already into making films, you should be, it looks like the opening scene to an eerie movie.

This was one of the most beautiful videos I have ever seen. I watched it twice. The scenery is amazing. CA is amazing. Oliver running away with the leash and eating up your sandwich was super cute. Haha great point, Oliver definitely made sure not to get his paws wet there (except for that one moment in the video where you can see he's very reluctant in crossing that tiny stream).
Both of my Beagles and ESPECIALLY my Newf absolutely HATED the water. Brings back tremendous memories

Thanks, Smudge! It's a bit like a beach in New Zealand!! We aren't too far away--just on completely opposite ends of the Pacific! Love your videos too, especially the recent one of Smudge on the beach--she loves the water a lot more than Oliver does!

That's a good question! He did see some deer when we went to our local state park in Illinois a year or two ago, and he barked at them a lot!! In that case there was a whole herd of them. He seemed to find this one individual deer a bit less threatening.
