I've had this game on the brain since playing the updated Stanley Parable, and I really enjoyed playing it. We're gonna play more Stanley Parable on my Twitch tomorrow night too Genshin Impact
dan accidentally waited out the timer on multiple dialogue options, imagine if he got cucked one last time by the game if he decided to discuss things before getting on board xD
When he went into the cave, Henry used to have the option to sing "I bless the rains down in Africa" but they patched it out, presumably for copyright reasons.
So I’m a biologist in Wyoming that has done research in the Shoshone National Forest. This game was beautiful and really encapsulated the isolation of being in the Wyoming wilderness. Absolutely stunning!
Haven't heard anything of this game in years but respect to Cissy Jones as delilah and Rich Sommer as henry. It takes actual skill to run an entire game mostly on just the voices and conversations of these 2 characters
Go play the game right now before you see any spoilers. It's really one of those games you'll think about for years, and you'll super regret being spoiled beforehand.
The fact that Dan showed his desktop for about 5 seconds and people immediately exposed him for playing Genshin Impact says a lot about his target demographic
Firewatch is one of those games that makes me.... melancholic, almost? The sense of scale with the area you're in, you can basically explore everything, and your only companion is someone you can't see using a radio to talk to you. The game is gorgeous! I just wish it didn't make me want to cry just by sheer overwhelming isolation lmao
I was very disappointed that you never actually end up using the fire finder, I mean, this game kinda has more in common with a telltale game to be honest- there's just choices, not actual gameplay
It’s worth noting that when you mentioned age, you weren’t late 20s anymore. You were late 20s in 1975, when you meet Julia, but by the time it mentions her drawing plants, it’s 1981, so you’re early to mid thirties then, by the time she passes at the end of the intro, it’s 1985. So that’s late thirties. You’re gifted a typewriter 4 years later in 1989, and that would make you late thirties to early forties. It then states that “Months go by” so you can add a few months to the end of that as well. They spent a decade together and knowing that makes it harder.
@@MadCoop Honestly, I’m pretty impressed that I figured it out mathematically rather than finding out that way, considering I haven’t been in school for a few years now.
Stanley Parable is so meta that it can briefly put you in a game from 2016 such as Firewatch and cause people to start playing the game again. That, or it’s RT showing his undying love for Genshin Impact
I mean, Dan was snarky about the 30 cents an hour raise but considering lookouts are on the clock 24/7 all summer, an extra 30 cents per hour in the 80s is pretty damn good
@@nashvontookus7451 crapton more work hours than a normal job, plus housing, food, and other expenses all paid for kind of adds up. it's sort of like how military wages seem crappy, but you similarly never actually need to pay for much of anything while on duty, and you also get benefits afterwards like free/subsidized education
@@cookiecraze1310 It'd be around 80 cents. That's not a good raise even back then. I'd have to assume OP didn't look at an inflation calculator and just assumed it'd equate to a couple dollars.
Hi Dan. I'm a nurse and have been for the past 2 years (yep, right as soon as covid started). In the beginning of my career and while I was studying (for around 4 years) I worked extensively in nursing and care homes both in my home country and in the UK. I've dealt in dept with dementia and families of people with dementia. I know RUclips is not the place for a thesis or a big rant about it, but I just want people here that are experiencing it in their families or that might experience it that you are never alone. Having dementia or living with a close loved in with dementia is one of those life adjusting situations that many families have to deal with. One thing you have to get to terms with is that there will never be a right way to deal with it. Doctors and friends can only give council, and it's up to you to decide how to move forward. The trick is to not second guess yourself. Dementia doesn't have a cure, and while it slowly robs the loved one from your life, running from the truth is usually not the right path. But going down a mental spiral is also not the way to deal with it. Like all problems that drag on for years and decades, it can take a big part of your life. Living with it, accepting it, accepting that life will never be the same, and that that fact is okay, is essential, the same way grieving is essential to life. You have to accept your choices and accept that you can't change the outcome of some aspects of life, or risk being consumed by situations outside of your control. In the end the best we can do, is do the best for those beside us, and best for ourselves.
@@keepplays5451 yeah uh dude that's not appropriate. my uncle drunk himself to death after my nan was diagnosed. my experience with dementia, both as someone who has been in proximity to it, and is likely to develop it, scares the everloving shit out of me, and i understand that swell of emotion that leads someone to an early grave. i don't drink because of it. if you haven't lived through it, you don't got the right to talk like that about it. be more considerate.
It's really interesting that the devs chose the name 'Delilah', famously associated with treachery and/or seduction. I like the narrative significance of that, because she wants to "meet up", knowing that our character is married, and for a majority of the game we don't know if we can trust her. But in the end, they choose to subvert all that (to an extent).
@@Khrayfish yeah but Ned is a crackpot who got his son killed and decided heh ill just hide out for 3 years near the scene of the crime and spy on people attack them and oh yeah frame them, I don't think he would know if she was still with anyone outside of the firewatch
Wait wait wait The narrator said he thought it was for “some erotic purpose.” I thought it was entirely a joke, but I guess it was referencing the discarded underwear and Henry being called a creep by the girls.
I'm very glad RT actually liked the ending, as many streamers complained about it but by not giving Delihla a actual figure it allows everybody to think of her differently as she encompasses different things for every audience.
I felt the ending was lackluster and simply seeing her would not have changed anything. This is largely because I thought my choices mattered beyond a drawing.
I like how we never see her. I just wish they took it a step further though and made it so that once Henry gets to the tower, he finds it completely empty and looking like it was abandoned for years.
as someone that has never seen this game outside the cover art, not seeing her makes this story more impactful. not putting a face to her allows you to only speculate on who she is based on how shes talks and reacts. i think it was well done and a good call.
@@Beunibster Personally I viewed this game as more of an interactive story experience- like a movie, just giving you a bit more freedom. The point of this game was the overall story that the writers wanted to tell, and I think they did an amazing job at it.
This is a good video, but I think you cut out (or just didn’t get to see, it’s been a while, so I don’t know if it’s a guaranteed dialogue or if it’s optional) one of the best lines of dialogue in the entire game. When you enter Delilah’s lookout, right at the end, she tells you that everyone is evacuating, and that the fire got too big to ignore and that they should’ve dealt with it sooner or something like that. I don’t remember the exact lines of dialogue, but I remember it struck me as such an incredible line because it made me realize that this game, in the end, is a metaphor for dementia, or other life-changing problems that you’d want to run away from. You can spend the entire duration of the problem’s lifespan “watching” it from a distance, pretending you’re doing something useful towards it, but in the end, the fire is still raging and burning acres upon acres of forest. You ignored it for too long, and it became impossible not to notice, almost suffocating. In Firewatch, you aren’t doing anything of any importance. You let your fires rage on, you even give them a dumb name in an attempt to make it seem like it’s not as important, but in the end, it forced you away from your escape.
I'm 2 years late but this is how I've been feeling very recently about my studies and adult life in general. I'm 3 years into my IT degree and I don't think I have the knowledge or experience to even make use of it or pursue a job in that field. I've been trying to stop fucking around ever since the start of my 2nd year but it does feel like what you described. I've let the fire rage on too long and it's insurmountable. Hopefully! I can turn it around in my 4th year!
Actually, assuming the dnd character sheet was rolled using the typical method of rolling 4 dice, picking the highest 3, the average total score is 73.4. Brian’s score total after racial bonuses is 73, meaning the total of the dice rolls was 70, with the most common racial bonuses being +3. This means that his average dice rolls were 3 points below average, making them totally normal, just looking a bit inflated due to the bonuses going into the already highest stats.
@@dhampir_days It would've been 1E since the game takes place in 1989 (the year 2E released) and Brian played the game 3 years before the story takes place.
@@cerberusmutt4252my memory is shit but here's what I remember from years ago. a US guy is depressed as hell after his wife develops early onset dementia, with her moving back to Australia to be with her family and looked after. He takes up a post at a firewatch tower out in a national park to get away from everything. He meets his new supervisor and begins to go about his job, occasionally seeing some weird things happening. Over the course of the game we learn about both his past and the areas past, all while growing closer to your supervisor through conversation, developing a friendship and forgetting about what happened. The weird happenings increase and a mystery develops, slowly it is revealed that some guy has been living out here for years, after his son died in a horrific accident and he was the source of the weird shit. Then the game kinda ends. It is very much a "journey" game, all about the path and the emotion, more than the end.
"You picked Beagle, and named him Bucket" Even outside The Stanley Parable 2, [1:29] Emotional Reassurance Bucket will always be there for us. Truly goes to show how humanity doesn't deserve The Bucket, huh ?
Some might Say that "but this Game Game fiiiiirst" Incorrect, the Stanley parable released before this Game, just because it was rereleased after this Game, does not mean that the royalties should go to this Game, it was all thanks to the Stanley parable
Small detail I think is totally deliberate, in the cache where you get the new "untapped" radio (which is total BS- a walkie talkie can be heard by anyone on the same frequency) there is a copy of "Three Blind Rats" with the cover torn. Three Blind Rats - Delilah, Henry and Ned. Delilah and Henry blind to what's really going on, going nuts and probably contemplating ratting one another out, and Ned, blind to his responsibilities and the outside world, hiding underground and stealing. All blind to their responsibilities or blind to what's going on. Maybe also blind to what each other really looks like since all interaction is over radio. Torn cover could mean too that the relationship and stablitiy of all three is breaking down also the other two "subjects" both males, where the Rangers Dave and Ron. If you read all the notes and find the hidden spot with the tape, it reveals Dave was homosexual and liked Ron (unrequited love that the report talked about) and the fight in Wapiti was a bar fight in the town of Wapiti where the patrons found out Dave was gay and tried to beat him up.
Henry could also be blind in the sense that he's trying to avoid his wife, trying to be blind to her condition by escaping to the woods, and Delilah could be blind in the sense that she's trying to ignore the truth of her past relationships as was hinted on that program sheet and her response to it. Ignoring things- the fire, relationships, sons and smog -is a consistent parallel in this game, and I like it a lot.
I am gonna be honest. the dark areas where you are alone, find out more about what is happening, and the sp00ky music combined genuinely scare me. I like to call it "soft horror" cause instead of a sudden sp00k that makes me jump, it just makes me cry from stress
@@breebiebreebit’s less soft horror and more just horror. Anything can happen, and it makes sense knowing how how Henry gets knocked out, keeping you on your toes for the rest of the game
my skin was crawling when henry found out about the fenced off research camp. the story writers did so well with instilling that fear of being watched.
good lord, this is my first time seeing this game, I thought it was just like some weird niche forest fire watchman simulator with an odd story, but 6 minutes into this video and our wife has dementia and Bucket dies, wtf
I love this game, it does so much with building such a tense and mysterious atmosphere all while telling an all-too-real story of a man doing his best to run from the responsibilities of his ever more complicating life. The graphics are simple, yet gorgeous, the lighting and sound design is second to none in the genre, and I can't help but come back to the game every once in awhile just to walk about the Wyoming Wilderness
@@spookyyy3 In The Valley of Gods. Been on my wish list since it was added to Steam... Campo Santo's dev blog has not been updated since 2018, and their Twitter mentions nothing of it, only Firewatch. I get that the owners of the company figured "Hey, I don't need to work anymore" after Firewatch's massive success and the Valve purchase, but I am still sad it happened like that. Hopefully the game gets released eventually, atleast with the resurge of players coming back to Firewatch bringing more eyes to Campo Santo again.
One thing I absolutely love about this game is the start, the fact that it portrays an illness like dementia seriously and how it can affect family members still hits hard. Working in care homes in South of England for the last 5 years, I see family members who visit each day and then less and less as they are slowly forgotten. It can be heartbreaking to see. Sometimes the patient has a moment when they are lucid and they ask where they are and why they don't have their family around, that is also something that is hard to know how to respond. I know it's only a game but RT you definitely had the right mindset of sending the wife to a home to be looked after, sometimes people try to hang on to what they have and can cause a lot of undue pain for the person with dementia. Just my two cents anyway, love your content RT and it was people like you that kept my spirits up with these last two years.
I should say for anyone questioning Javier. And dying in a factory. All factories have some level of danger. In my plant someone was working (I heard the stories and there was a thing in the new apparently. This happened before I started) but he got decapitated because he didn't lock out tag out. The lift started up and apparently ripped off his head.
Factory jobs sound like hard and dangerous work sometimes. I hope you're doing well. Also is it sad that I only know of Lock Out Tag Out because of a bunch of videos that get recommended to me by RUclips from some US government department that handles industrial accidents?
@@TORchic1 Any work that has equipment or product that is heavier and larger than a person is always dangerous in general. Even small woodworking houses can give you permanent injury with small hand grinders or raw lumber
He doesn’t have to do that if you are talking about the ending but if you are referring to Henry not giving an actual proper habitat to that Turtle then I agree
I mean…is he gonna pull a whole ass enclosure out of his ass? I agree its an absolutly shit enclosure (don’t even think the poor thing even had a water dish) but when he’s in the middle of the woods what can you do? Also- sadly the turtle is just code :( even though it is very cute.

Personally, I think Wapititi station was mean to study bears because right before you find Ned's hideout, there's a collar with a tracker attached. It seems that the collar came from the research station but that wouldn't make sense if they were studying soil samples. Also, on the clipboard with the 3 males and 1 female, the first male subject has a note that says "Frequent departure from Two Forks area" so I don't see how that would apply to soil or plants. Despite all this, I can't figure out why that grid is on the ground, maybe the researchers were studying soil along with the bears.
Studying seismic activities effect on the bears. I think the first half of the set up is pretty clever writing- having Henry and Delilah's paranoia have them launch into assuming the notes are about them because the comments about the bears' mating habits were comedically similar to their interpersonal problems. It gets a little messier and distracts even the player from figuring it out for themselves when it throws in Ned's faked research papers that mention them by name.
28:40 attention to detail: the hill was named after the idea Henry suggested at the start of the game. I'm pretty sure the dialogue to trigger this is by choice!
I really liked the ending, too. It may not have been what people expected, but it fit the theme of the game. This game is about Escapism, and how you can't keep running away. Henry was trying to escape the reality of his current life: Julia has Dementia and his relationship with her will never be the same. Everything about their life has changed in such a scary way so quickly, so he wanted a reprieve from it. That's why he's out there in the Wyoming wilderness. It all starts out pretty good. Seeing the beautiful landscape, away from most other people, and developing a nice friendship with Delilah. Then when they seemingly discover some kind of weird fucked up human research on them and the surveillance, they think there's some kind of conspiracy involving them, the teen girls, and Brian from several years ago. It's a horrific adventure they have to go through, culminating in finding out what happened in the cave... Then the reality kicks in. The girls are fine, what happened at the cave was an accident, and Ned concocted these clues to a conspiracy just so he could keep hiding in the woods. Ned did this so that he wouldn't have to return to reality, and that's pretty sad. So now Henry and Delilah have to return to their reality, leaving the forest behind, else they end up like Ned who can only just keep hiding. It's such a bittersweet message.
@@honkstheclown8631 Yeah, that's fair, I can see that argument becoming annoying. Wasn't intended to shut down a discussion with it, just to explain why I personally disliked the ending.

Hey Dan, have you ever considered playing Oxenfree because its sequel is coming later this year. It's similar to Firewatch's storytelling but it's more of a supernatural mystery. Really hope you check it out since it has a bunch of endings with a non-linear storyline!
Wow, I remember that game. I haven’t thought about it in years. That was the first game I completed when I bought my first gaming PC back in 8th grade. I’ll be a sophomore in college this fall. I loved that game, and I’m so glad it has a sequel now. I think I’m gonna have to replay the original first, then play the new one right afterwards. Thank you for bringing up that memory, and letting me know there’s a sequel.

We need a fourth installment in the “sad emotional story games that you watch late at night to pass the time” so far we have the game about the couple and it explores alternate timelines and stuff like that then we have the blinking game then we have this. I genuinely want more these have definitely been my favorite videos for a while. The other content is good but I really do just get an emotional experience from this that you cant get from much else.
When I first started playing this game, I thought the voice acting was stiff and terrible. That is definitely their intention. For Henry to be a bit... unfriendly, since he was new to the post, and then slowly become more comfortable and friendly. Made the immersion way better too!
Hey RT no idea If you remember me but I totally commented on one of your videos saying bye before I had to head out for bootcamp, just wanted to let you know I graduated and am very excited to start catching up on all your content! can’t wait to laugh and cry and enjoy all the dope stuff you’ve been up to! Spoilers: No Dan, he didn’t purposely leave the keys for you to find. He left various caches of supplies around the area and marked them with the bear tracking collars so he could find them. He never accounted for you getting your hands on a signal tracker or that tracker being able to pick up on the collars. Him not wanting to hold onto the keys because it’s a reminder of his failure is a legitimate reason. He’s still there after all these years not because he’s trying to protect a secret, but because he has lost all motivation to move on. He’s filled with the guilt of failing his son and the prospect of reentering society without Brian has no appeal to him. The reason he shut you in the cave was because he never expected anyone to find the keys and thus he sees you as a threat to the life of peace he made for himself
Not only that Ned pushed his son about rock climbing, which is why his son hid the rock anchors (mentioned at 1:08:13). Sadly, a loose anchor was the cause...

I have always loved this game. As someone named after a location in the wilderness of Wyoming, having visited several times to Montana and Wyoming, and being raised to appreciate the natural beauty of the American West, it always drew my eyes. The thoughts of watching the sun set over a vast, mountainous wilderness in near total isolation is, simply put, a dream for me. Being able to get away from life and keep watch over the land I hold so dear? yes, please. When I first saw a youtuber play this game nearly 6 years ago, it was a magical thing to witness. I keep coming back to videos on it- watching the experience again and again, investing myself not only in the beauty of the game but also of the mysteries unfolding within, and it still gets me all excited. Somehow, after all this time, I've still never played Firewatch for myself. Maybe its about time.

i've loved firewatch for years. i only heard about the game because i used a pc wallpaper from the game and someone commented on it saying they loved the game and i should check it out. it's one of those games that really just gives you a reality check. that life is messy and complicated yet still worth living. it makes me appreciate nature and my family and my freedom all at the same time. i don't think i will ever be able to forget when i first saw brian's body down in the cave. i listened to the soundtrack so much it became my top spotify track for years on a shared account. i'm thrilled to have seen you play it, and i love the editing on this. nothing left out, yet not too much downtime of getting lost in the woods. thank you dan for another great video

I love the game's visuals when I first saw it back then too, and then when BoTW came I was so happy to see another game that has that kinda style of look
Same. But I do still like the idea of just being out in the woods, alone with my thoughts, watching the wildlife, taking pictures, and looking up at a starry sky...
first time I ever watched this game, finding out what’s in the cave gave me chills and genuinely upset me for the rest of the evening. the sheer atmosphere and character conveyed in this game is SO impressive, especially considering you never really meet more than 2 characters, but you still manage to get familiar enough with ned and brian to be upset by it. wild. super great game. almost as great as the hit online action roleplaying game genshin impact,
RT, you should play this cool game called It Steals. I don’t know exactly how to explain it, but it’s super creative and unnerving, while also not being a huge commitment for your time. It’s just you alone with your thoughts, with a woman you’ve never met on the other side of the phone as your only proper company, slowly uncovering a dangerous and sad story. Great game

The is ones of those types of experiences that causes some kind of tightness in my chest. Almost like I’m out of breath. This game is very difficult to watch a second play through of. The first time I saw someone play this game is engrained in my memory like someone carved it in stone. I remember Henry flirting with Delilah while his wife was in a care facility and then at the end he doesn’t even get to see her. Some other comment said that this game feels real and I have to agree. Other comments have a better summary of what I want to say but I got 17 minutes into the video and I did enjoy the commentary but this game is brutal to watch a second time so I have to stop
Strongly recommend anyone play the game before watching reviews only due to the amount you miss by someone talking over it.

OR. hear me out, wine. (jk)

Ned's 'report' of her made it seem like she had a fling with multiple people, and was still seeing Javier, which of course, she does deny.

Torn cover could mean too that the relationship and stablitiy of all three is breaking down
also the other two "subjects" both males, where the Rangers Dave and Ron. If you read all the notes and find the hidden spot with the tape, it reveals Dave was homosexual and liked Ron (unrequited love that the report talked about) and the fight in Wapiti was a bar fight in the town of Wapiti where the patrons found out Dave was gay and tried to beat him up.
oh shit
now I need to see a fanfic of em brb
Henry could also be blind in the sense that he's trying to avoid his wife, trying to be blind to her condition by escaping to the woods, and Delilah could be blind in the sense that she's trying to ignore the truth of her past relationships as was hinted on that program sheet and her response to it.
Ignoring things- the fire, relationships, sons and smog -is a consistent parallel in this game, and I like it a lot.

Spot might've been frequented by bears before the fencing off so they were studying traces of fecal matter and urine in the soil?
I'm fairly certain you can find a dead elk with one of the tracking collars on it, so presumably they were monitoring elk n such
Oh yeah it definitely looks like bears. Especially that “hostile with other males” line. Perhaps they were studying urine or feces as well?
Studying seismic activities effect on the bears.
I think the first half of the set up is pretty clever writing- having Henry and Delilah's paranoia have them launch into assuming the notes are about them because the comments about the bears' mating habits were comedically similar to their interpersonal problems. It gets a little messier and distracts even the player from figuring it out for themselves when it throws in Ned's faked research papers that mention them by name.
They're tracking elk. You can find a dead elk with a tracking collar if you follow the receiver.

Lots of people dislike the ending of this game. Honestly I liked the ending to the game, it felt kinda realistic
I absolutely loved it. Life isn’t always some big grand adventure where all the pieces come together. this is one of these times.
It is realistic yes. The thing is, I don't play games for realism, I have enough of it in reality.
@@honkstheclown8631 Yeah, that's fair, I can see that argument becoming annoying.

I loved that game, and I’m so glad it has a sequel now. I think I’m gonna have to replay the original first, then play the new one right afterwards. Thank you for bringing up that memory, and letting me know there’s a sequel.
Wait sequel!??

We need a fourth installment in the “sad emotional story games that you watch late at night to pass the time” so far we have the game about the couple and it explores alternate timelines and stuff like that then we have the blinking game then we have this. I genuinely want more these have definitely been my favorite videos for a while. The other content is good but I really do just get an emotional experience from this that you cant get from much else.

which game is the first one?
@@tibor8001 i think it was To The Moon
When I first started playing this game, I thought the voice acting was stiff and terrible.
That is definitely their intention. For Henry to be a bit... unfriendly, since he was new to the post, and then slowly become more comfortable and friendly.
Made the immersion way better too!
Penny raiding the second a kid's body showed up was so perfect and in character for her in an odd way
Hey RT no idea If you remember me but I totally commented on one of your videos saying bye before I had to head out for bootcamp, just wanted to let you know I graduated and am very excited to start catching up on all your content! can’t wait to laugh and cry and enjoy all the dope stuff you’ve been up to! I hope you stayed safe drift king! I know I did

A bit late to reply, but welcome back. Hope you're caught up by now. RT has been killing it the past few years
Oh man, I remember I had to give up watching Jingles daily for BMT. Never did catch back up, work kicked my @$$ the next 6 years.
I hope youre doing well man.
I love how henry tosses just about every item he puts back down, but the turtle, while he has the same animation, he places the turtle in the same place in the box it was in before, proving it is a highlight of this game.
i used to watch you maybe a year ago, and i eventually started watching other you tubers, then this showed up on my recommended and decided i’d watch for old times sake, and i forgot how much i enjoy your content and honestly how wholesome your videos are

Spoilers:
No Dan, he didn’t purposely leave the keys for you to find.
Was ned also a subject on the research? Him and his son were the other two?
@@mistypeaks1375 the 'research' were fake documents that ned created on the fly. im not who was meant to be represented by the other two, it could just be dummy data.
@@MinecraftNextDoor that seems to elaborate just for a lie. Did he also destroy the girls' campsite?
@@mistypeaks1375
It was a site researching seismic activity. Possible effects on local bear population, mating habits, migration. The radar was to track the bear collars, Ned used them to track these hidden caches.
Delila also is playing on Henry's ignorance of Radio Tech as there is no need for "tapping" radios, all you would need to do is have the same frequency. The Radio also still works clearly underground but suddenly goes cold mear feet further, not staticy. She is the one causing panic and lying to us constantly.
Ned's hideout has many drafts for fake "research" papers and notes on his feelings about us.

...Oh this fuckin takes me back, Firewatch is such a surreal and mildly creepy game while remaining beautiful.
I remember so long ago when i saw an episodic full playthrough of it that slowly but surely unraveled the anxiety inducing secrets and story. Something about the games artstyle really leans into it, its almost got a slenderman air to it at times.

Missed the nostalgia after all these years, its such a gem and not many people talk about it any more

What happened?
@@amichiganboiwhosereallazy1544 so the quick answer is that PewDiePie played fire watch and didn't really like the game. Then PewDiePie said the n word so the firewatch devs copy right striked his videos even tho him saying the n word had nothing to do with his videos of firewatch. Then came along the huge question of whether devs should be able to weaponize the copy right strike like they did even tho PewDiePie's firewatch videos had gone along with the any community guidelines and had nothing wrong with them.

Not the same city, but it was unnerving. Also, the “You absolutely do not want to move” kinda stung, but I can’t blame them. I mean, we know.

This game reminds me of my grandfather. He has dementia and just recently was moved into a home. And on my first visit he couldn’t differentiate between me and my brother. It makes me wish I spent more time with him when he was healthier and you could sustain a conversation.
Update: sadly, he passed on in late February.
As much as I enjoy your content, I don’t want to have this game spoiled for me. I will return once I have finished it for myself.
Edit: The game is really good

Really love this game, if anyone here enjoys it I recommend the game 'Gone Home', this game is hugely inspired by it in the way it tells the story. Definitely think Firewatch is better overall just because it's more modern, but both are wonderful stories.
Gone home is an absolute treat and I adore it. Same music composer, too!
i've loved firewatch for years. i only heard about the game because i used a pc wallpaper from the game and someone commented on it saying they loved the game and i should check it out. it's one of those games that really just gives you a reality check. that life is messy and complicated yet still worth living. it makes me appreciate nature and my family and my freedom all at the same time. i don't think i will ever be able to forget when i first saw brian's body down in the cave. i listened to the soundtrack so much it became my top spotify track for years on a shared account. i'm thrilled to have seen you play it, and i love the editing on this. nothing left out, yet not too much downtime of getting lost in the woods. thank you dan for another great video

can't believe people still remember it even in 2022 :D
I love the game's visuals when I first saw it back then too, and then when BoTW came I was so happy to see another game that has that kinda style of look

Like...part of me knows that it's unrealistic for me because I'm not exactly and outdoorsy type, I am nowhere near fit enough to rought it in the woods, and I think I'd end up afraid to do anything by myself.
But I do still like the idea of just being out in the woods, alone with my thoughts, watching the wildlife, taking pictures, and looking up at a starry sky...
An actual job like this sounds like a dream

first time I ever watched this game, finding out what’s in the cave gave me chills and genuinely upset me for the rest of the evening. the sheer atmosphere and character conveyed in this game is SO impressive, especially considering you never really meet more than 2 characters, but you still manage to get familiar enough with ned and brian to be upset by it. wild. super great game. almost as great as the hit online action roleplaying game genshin impact,
RT, you should play this cool game called It Steals. I don’t know exactly how to explain it, but it’s super creative and unnerving, while also not being a huge commitment for your time. It’s really dynamic and the way the ‘monsters’ interact with you is *mwah*. I seriously don’t know how to explain it, but I know you’d LOVE it. I know you don’t usually do straight up horror games, but I think this could be an exception…
I feel sorry for henry, him and julia had it hard ngl, My grandad had onset dementia in his final months and it really really sucks to deal with you did well Dan with putting her in a home
when i played the game for the first time, i played it in one single session. it was so exciting and well made, you can relate to the charakters, the music is incredible, the visuals are stunning, the story keeps you at the edge of your seat. one of the best games ever.
Really love the tension they build with the being stalked thing. I felt SO uneasy up until we realized it wasn't as big as we thought it was. This is a remarkably well written game, really dosen't have the attention it deserves
Loved this full video of you playing this game, got me actually feeling scared a lot of times, made me emotional.
really hope too see more of this genshin impact
Man, I love Firewatch so much. It perfectly shows the feeling of loneliness and isolation without being some cringy horror game. It’s just you alone with your thoughts, with a woman you’ve never met on the other side of the phone as your only proper company, slowly uncovering a dangerous and sad story. Great game
Remember watching people like jacksepticeye play this when it first came out. One of my favorite story-based games cuz of the art style and natural (and quite frankly hilarious) dialog. Can't wait to watch this ^^
The is ones of those types of experiences that causes some kind of tightness in my chest.
Stanley Parable: shows Firewatch for 12 seconds.
Me: you see that folks, that's what we in the business call foreshadowing.
I have LOVED watching Daniel play this. I adore the supercut videos, and this one just. It hit hard, and I loved watching Daniel play this.
This game has such a huge place in my heart. Thank you for playing it!
Strongly recommend anyone play the game before watching reviews only due to the amount you miss by someone talking over it. Firewatch has the best sound design and soundscape I've heard in any game in the last 10 years. The story is simple and to the point but has quite a bit of layers to it, voice acting was perfect.
i want a dlc where nothing goes wrong and they just get to talk all summer
I knew nothing about this game, I had no idea this video would worsen my already crippling fear of dementia
