    God said that of David when he was a young man who lived in his father"s house. The Gospel begins with "It is finished"

    perhaps that is not a statement about David's morality/character(a very intuitive english reading I'll admit).
    The phrase "after God's own heart" linguistic likely is better translated to mean "David was God's choice". I have found a similar phrase in Akkadian/ ancient Mesopotamian similar to Hebrew that uses the phrase to point to "choice" rather than character.
    This is in contrast to Saul (acts 13:22 Paul makes the same point). It is the household of David through which the messiah would come.

      Agreed. The people chose Saul-the "perfect" person in their minds. However, he was proud and depended on his own merits. God's choice proved them wrong.
      The passage the brother used, "there is no one who seeks God" contradicts his argument.

    David was a man after God's own heart because David had a heart for Gods people, Israel. The Word of God is about God making a way of reconciliation. So David as king of Israel had a heart for Gods United kingdom. Think about the stories of David they are about reconciling Israel or keeping Israel United.

      Sucking upto some old testament Has Been ain't gonna impress God my boy. Especially if you're trying to whitewash the evil that he did. God will look down on you and call you a weirdo. Remember, Jesus was the one who selflessly died for you without any second thoughts. So, if there's any praising let it be to Jesus.

    King David.
    Bibles says he was a man after God's own heart.
    King David was a very bad man, yet The Lord thought otherwise.
    Why?

    Yes you should look for the direction. Is that man walking towards the Lord. He should show spiritual characteristics of Christ. You cannot hide behind your fleshood. Spend time with the Lord by reading your words and praying and fasting. Learn what exactly God considers to be a sin. Read your word daily. Cleave to the Lord preaches can lead you astray. The Church of the Lord was never instructed to be like David yet to be like Christ.

    This to every people whitewashing his sin. Just because David is one of the Elites of God doesn't mean that you can just overlook what he did. Think about it. If that happened to you would you be saying the same thing.

      Maria Qumayo I would consider it. He spoils a great message by boasting about himself. I listened to this to find out about David not to listen to some proud preacher raising himself up to be Davids equal. No i didn't give it a thumbs down and yes i think the message is otherwise good. Bless you. Nev

    Please answer. Is it possible for Christians to be completely free of temptation today?

    • @cartman42069
      @cartman42069 8 лет назад +4

      No

    • @dear_totheheart
      @dear_totheheart 8 лет назад

      Not free of being tempted but we are to die to ourselves, taking up Christ's life which means that we are dead to sin and no longer bound by sin

    • @MsZzz9
      @MsZzz9 6 лет назад +1

      Don’t try to be free of temptation, it will never go away. Even Jesus Christ was tempted. But he did what we can and need to do today, he firmly sent Satan where he belongs. And he has given us the right to do it too. He died to save us!
      So Instead of seeking to be free of temptation we should seek to truly have the lord in our hearts. To be praying at any time for his protection so we are with him.
      “If God is with us, then who can be against us?”

    • @TimPowerGamer
      @TimPowerGamer 6 лет назад

      Not even temptation, but sin altogether.
      1 John 1:8 (NASB) - If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us.
      We can't even fathom all of the ways we sin, nor can we remember every sin we've committed to ask for forgiveness for them all individually. Temptation and sin are part-in-parcel with our fallen humanity.
      1 Corinthians 10:13 (NASB) - No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.
      Every sin we commit we are capable of having not committed (which is why our sin had to be punished in Christ, as we are without excuse), but we are by no means going to keep ourselves from sinning 100% of the time. We should see a process of sinning less and less and, more importantly, reconciling with God after our sins sooner and sooner after they occur.

      NO. Read Romans 7:19-25 not only will you continue you to be tempted you’ll still fall into sin, I struggle with sin, the Apostle Paul struggled, we ALL struggle
