I've seen several of Shawn's versions of this song, and this one is a favorite. I remember seeing him play this one live and it was spellbinding. Some of his most inspired performances were on this Roland guitar.

Thanks, one of my favorite songs Lane plays. Always nails the Hendrix parts but then goes into Lane mode so smoothly...blows my mind every time I hear him play this song :) Plus the "Shawn Lane began to howl!" gets me every time!
02:32 that might be the first time I've ever heard Shawn use the wah pedal haha Like I tell everyone, Shawn can play all the guitar heroes stuff but hardly any of them can play his stuff. That's what makes Shawn the greatest! Not to mention, most "shredders" can't compose good music but Shawn composed some of the best stuff ever done. It's one thing to be a great player, it's another thing to be a great writer and Shawn had it all in spades.
I think he picked up the soul of players that he was emulating. Then he just plays with his inimitable wild abandon. Thanks for liking and commenting, always great to hear from a fan.

Can't believe I went so long not even knowing he existed... still blows me away like the first time I heard him. I usually don't fanboy over most of the artists I dig but I can't help it when it comes to Shawn. Like you, I love guitar oriented music a lot and out of all the greats that I grew up loving, I don't listen to them with any kind of frequency like I do Shawn's music. Really great stuff and there's still those times that I still find myself in awe listening to Lane's works.
