I am Ken Abroad, a full-time traveler traveling southeast Asia, currently in Malaysia, making Malaysia travel vlogs. It is my goal here on this channel to visit every country in southeast Asia and bring you along the journey.
You won’t see much tourist places in my videos, I rather like to show the “real” sides of each country in my videos. Where do the local people go to eat? Where do they hang out? How do the locals travel through the country? Stuff like that.
There will be almost daily uploads on this channel, during the next months from Southeast Asia. I will be traveling Southeast Asia, showing you around local places and try lots of different local food. Join the journey if you are interested in experiencing Malaysia now from a more authentic local point of view.

Malaysia looks amazing, your videos inspire me to visit this country.
Highly recommended 🤙
welcome...
Come to Malaysia brother😁
Welcome to Malaysia!
Thank you Ken for such nice videos
Mr ken,,,you are not a budget traveller any more,,,all your hard work pay off,,,,, kudos to all Malaysian who supported you
Stay safe and stay happy 🇲🇾😁
You still remember the places you went to two years ago, your memory is really good.
That airbnb look likes more comfortable than many hotel rooms, thanks for sharing!👍😃🙏
你竟然還記得兩年前去過的地方,記憶力真是好;
那民宿比很多旅館的房間還要更舒適,謝謝分享!
Travelling to Butterworth from KL by train .... Nice!!!..From the looks of it, pretty comfortable as well....You are an "unofficial" ambassador of Malaysia. Appreciate that you're showing and experiencing what Malaysia has to offer....And who can forget the story of Street Food Pasta man from Penang.... and I see , flying to East Malaysia from Penang..... So finally, it's happening!... As always, stay safe , be vigilant , take care out there mate
Missed the old ferry rides. Its more vibrant and romantic than the new ferry service. Its icon to Penang for generation and without it the vacation seem incomplete !
The new ferry just boring😪
I still like the old ferry...
do they have plan to bring back the old ferry or its not going to come back ?
@@mohdzaki1089 sebab utama kami sekeluarga datang penang nak naik feri lama tu ja...dah tak ada tak best
Malaysia is very green & the hottest country I've ever been to, I loved Langkawi.
You were lucky to get a train ticket to Penang during this school holiday week in Malaysia. I just took a bus on 4/6/2022 to Penang and return to KL on 6/6/2022 because the train tickets are all sold out. It took me 13 hours' ride each way. This is our highway condition which are fully jammed during holiday season. I took a 3 days' holiday to Penang and loss 2 days' travelling on the road.
Penang.... it's heaven... pearl of orient....missing Penang so much...love everything...love the heavenly delicious food...😭😭😭... enjoy and take care Ken dear 👍💪❤️
Very honest review about Malaysian public transportation. Thank you Ken
Penang is our top favorite spot for hols.. luv the food food food.. the nice sunset view .. simply luv Penang..
Interesting journey by train from Kuala Lumpur to Penang. Ken, l think you are taking the ETS (Electric Train Service ) as the journey was only 4 hours plus. Another thing l noticed was you put on your sweater...it must be extremely cold. Buses and trains in Malaysia will always have the AC on full blast..😁🤓 Anyway, thanks for the nice comments about Malaysian transportation..truly appreciate it. Nice, spacious and cozy Abnb. Enjoy Penang again !!
Yeah the AC was super cold 🥶

Welcome back to Penang, Malaysia, hope you’re having a great time there. I find it interesting watching your videos as you’re German traveling/ living in South East Asia and I’m Malaysian living in Germany. I watched you’re video on traveling back to Germany since the pandemic and I’m going to travel back to Malaysia for 10 days in October after 2.5 years since the pandemic. It’s almost the the opposite side of a coin.
hey i try to get more of those red cabs than grab when ever possible every time i visit Malasiya, those red cars are driven by ordinary / poor people and grab is coorporate ..... i like this country so much i try to help those drivers when possible :)
Penang is definitely one of the best cities in Malaysia in my experience. I hope you have a great time!
Looking forward to your videos from Penang. I lived there in 2017 and am coming back in early 2023. Wondering what's new there?
Thanks for sharing this wonderful video. It's really good to hear your positive comments about d local transportations in Malaysia. That will boost foreign visitors' confidence traveling around Malaysia.
Do u know Ken, your video in Penang is when I subscribed to your channel, d gourmet pasta street food in Penang was d first video I watched from your channel.
That's cool! I revisited his stall yesterday 🤙
@@KenAbroad That's very nice of u. Hope d food is still good. 🙂
I still like to watch your videos. It was good. Thank you Ken.👍👍👍❤️
Thanks Ken. Yr amazing journey to Penang. I also missed Penang.
Brings back memories of my days in Malaysia. All the best to you, Ken
Yeay Ken is going to Penang. Can't wait to see your journey throughout Penang and hopefully biking around Langkawi.
Welcome to my hometown, glad you love Penang Island :)
Nice….have fun bro, enjoy your stay in penang..

Have an adventurous and exciting trip to Penang , Ken👍🏼🙏
Welcome to Penang, Hope to see you wandering the beautiful streets of Penang.
Keep moving on... malaysia has lots of amazing places to see. Love to watch yr travels.
Welcome back to Penang Ken! 👍👍👍
I started watching your videos 2 years ago just when you were leaving KL during RMCO to travel around the country. So cool to see you back revisiting familiar (and new) places!
Welcome to Penang ! Hope to you around the Island 🏝️🏝️
Selamat pagi Ken.
I love Penang. Been there many times.
Very informative and interesting video. Enjoyed watching this vlog
We've come full circle, Ken. I first started watching your videos when you were in Penang. The first video I watched was the luxury pasta you had on the roadside
Oh that's cool! I revisited that stall yesterday 🤙
@@KenAbroad That's awesome! Good to know his small business is still going strong 💪
Welcome to Penang, Ken!!! Nice to see you back here
Amazing vlog 🔥🔥👍❤️❤️
Regarding the red taxis. When grab/uber had just launched in the country, the red taxis were significantly more expensive. But nowadays the prices have more or less equalized. On a good day you can even find certain taxis being cheaper than grabcars. The main advantage of grab is the safety and you almost always get a nice person behind the wheels vs the stereotypical grumpy taxi drivers.
Enjoy your videos. Thanks!
Yeah, GRAB prices have gone up quite a bit, I must admit.
super smooth journey to penang!!
Cantik Apartment Ken.' SELESA'. Enjoy
Love your content 🔥🔥👍❤️
Only few days in penang doens't sound good ken 😂.. too many awesome places here , and foods as well.. makesure u comeback for longer stay 👊🏻
Ken_go ahead. You are reaching the line of 100K
welcome to Penang, hope to see you walking around!
Cool to see you back in Penang.
I still remember you had your birthday here .Asome
Always First 🙋♂️🙋♂️🙋♂️
Wonder how you keep doing that 🤙💪
WAW! It's a great deal for that ABNB. I miss Penang so much. Haven't been there for a little over 6 years now. Great train ride as well BTW, much better than bus for sure.
Hello 🤩😋ape kbr bro Ken ' selamat DTG ke Penang island'. Next trip travel filght too Kuching Sarawak n kota Kinabalu Sabah .. n Kundasang gunung Kinabalu 👍😋
Nice episode! 😎
Love your videos super interesting ❤️
Wow, I drop by KL Sentral train station almost everyday. Will be awesome to have at least saw you and greeted you. I have never tried the platform 1 train though, so good to know your experience in this video. Cheers.
Nice Airbnb huge upgrade from last two years 👍
Hey kent 😊..watching your journey on train to Penang is truly entertaining🌱🌴🌿 nice view. Hope u enjoy your days in Penang 😎 take care ☕
Thank you 😊
Oh? Penang again?
Hope you get back to Batu Ferringhi and enjoy the pasta with smoked duck again!
I visited him yesterday 🤙
@@KenAbroad Perfect!
Ken, Have a safe journey to East Malaysia ya
Hi Ken, I've not commented for a while but I was excited to see your trip by land/sea to Penang as I flew from Langkawi. I was not aware it was such a short crossing to Butterworth as I did not visit there but hopefully one day I will return. I especially enjoyed the botanic gardens with the monkeys roaming freely. It was also great to see you with your mum & sister, what a lovely family you are. Safe and happy & travels!
Happy to see you again here in the comments 👍
Haha, don't feel bad, I still get lost in KL train station! Enjoy Penang!! Good to see you still travelling!!
For some Malaysian too.🤣🤣🤣😏
@@arman8544 Haha, I think I have been lost in most countries I have visited. The worst is when you leave the airport for the first time (not KL as it is a great airport for links to the city) No matter how much planning you do, I always get discombobulated, can’t find my transport and always end up getting hustled into a taxi and overcharged. I have an almost perfect track record, haha!
Hi Ken…welcome back to Penang
Ken is always plesant to watch 🙂 i like his personality.👍👍
Welcome to penang Ken.. i live in mainland, kepala batas. Have fun during your stay on the island.
I am going to Penang come Monday. Havent been there for like 5 years. Im so excited
Welcome to Penang, you should divide your time between Penang island and Penang mainland. Penang state consist of both Penang island and Penang mainland, not just the island. If not mistaken, you did not explore Penang mainland during your visit in 2020.
Sounds like you enjoy the greenery. You'll see a lot of that when you drive to Kuching suburbs later on your next trip. Or if you are heading to Teluk Melano on the west or northeast towards Miri. Enjoy Penang! Hope you've booked your tickets for the Rainforest Music Festival! Or maybe the Borneo Jazz!
U look different Ken...u must be happy to be back in Malaysia hihihi
Oh nice...I can't wait to see how Penang is. You make me want to book a flight right now Ken.
Off topic, why do not have that catchy tune at the beginning of your videos anymore?
It was so unique
woah!super sweet goin to my hometown of Penang!its super awkward coz,i'm from the mainland n also lived in island...the last i took the train was in 2003,fr Bworth to Tampin(N9) vv...now,after ur tour n review,me being a local learned alot about my own turf!i've been taking flights all these while n missed out on the journey on trains....used to be my childhood norm!seems like the train ride was convenient thru!n reg the ferry ride,u missed the original classic double deck iconic ferris of penang, which was decom b4 the pandemic due to age...tat is the signature icon of Penang!too sad they did not preserve the heritage!
Can't wait for your reunion with JetLags
Smooth travel Mr Forrest
5:15 minute.. yay, you passing my hometown KTMB Tanjong Malim station.. have safe Ken.. 😁😁😁
The train ride from KL to Butterworth is really nice. I miss the old Ferry.
Looking forward to your food adventure in Penang. Haven’t been to the Island for ages, really missed their food there even though I can easily get them in KL but some things are just not as authentic.
You should apply for Permanent Residence in Malaysia. We absolutely LOVE you
Hi Ken 👋🏻 how convenient to travel to Penang by ETS super comfy and fast ride 👍 amazing view of the greeneries 😊 I really miss the original iconic Penang ferries as a transportation from Butterworth to the island , the services were stopped in 2020 and replaced with smaller ferries.
Wow..beautiful and spacious airBnB really nice overlooking the seaview. The taxi fares in Penang are much higher compared to buses or trishaw but now the Penangites use grabcar I guess , enjoy your stay Ken 👍🥰
pineng is the heaven of food...enjoy in there ken...
The staff at the hotel hailed me a red cab last month. I was lucky to get a friendly driver. Spoke decent English and drove me to one of the finest places to have my bak kut teh's kick fixed. Charged me reasonably. I hired him for three hours for three destinations. Didn't use Grab as I was picked up for the airport the next day.
If you go to Sabah (borneo) don't forget to go to Tenom... Famous for it's coffee and white water rafting 👍☺️
Great Penang, i was in Penang on Last march for 10 days.
Epic!
Welcome to Penang Ken
Hiya Ken, great video. Always watching and liking, but not always commenting. When I see 7/11. It reminds me of how long. It took you to find your T-shirt. Always good vibes. Enjoyable video. Thank you for sharing. Have a wonderful weekend.
Thanks Nicky 😊

Can't wait for ur street pasta stall video
i still remember first time watched your video in year 2020, the video you go to street food in Penang eat Spaghetti. From that video i never miss watching all your video.
Welcome back to Penang. You remember the pasta you ate at Batu Ferringhi. He has put your youtube channel on his menu/signboard. :)
Hope to bump into you one day in Penang.
I miss Malaysia :( In June 2019 we went to Haat Yai from KL Sentral (for almost 6 hrs).
Must enjoy the hawker foods.
I too had a really nice time in Penang !!!
I'm sure you'll also like the island of Singapore 😎 we have tons of hidden gems for you to explore in our small country! btw, been watching your Malaysian vids since 2020 eventhough I'm Singaporean because i also treat malaysia as my second home and i also have a house there too!❤️
Going to Singapore after Malaysia 🤙
@@KenAbroad Wow Singapore and then Indonesia ,Bali and so on. Will defiantly follow.
@@KenAbroad you should travel to johore bahru and from there, cross the causeway to Singapore. It's a kind of experience and welcome to Singapore soon. I am a Singaporean 👋
Singapore is boring tbh, lacks of soul, full of skyscrapers and expensive.
For your effort in promoting Malaysia, i will strongly recommend a Datukship for you by next year. Hidup Datuk Ken.
Love love your German accent my memories of my grandparents
Welcome to Penang.
Gut gewandert viel gluck
Hi Ken Yes i know Penang well i lived there as a child back in 1963 till 1969 my father was in the lutfwaffe at Butterworth went back 2018 on holiday had a great time there for 3 weeks
Love your videos 🔥🔥👍❤️❤️❤️
Welcome to penang..
Hey Ken, we were on the same train and ferry as you! Thought we recognized you but we were too shy to say Hi! Hopefully we run into you again in Sabah since we will be going there also. :)
Ah say hi next time 🤙
AMAZING

Hi nice to come to penang..i m from penang..watch ur youtube from thailand to malaysia..where are you now
7:31 pengakuan ikhlas Ken
road to 100k subs💪💪
Thanks for this! You made it look so easy to get to Penang by train that I wanna do it soon too by myself. How are the leg room for the train? Seems like you have to share the table area with others.
Ken: fav island in penang.
Me : Instantly think of Pulau Kapas. Such a memory.
Now they are using speed boat. Last few years the local goverment decided to change the ferry into speedboat. That’s so sad. Miss my old times riding the old ferry. You can feel the breeze, fresh open air and scenery of the surrounding at night
KEN,i would suggest you to try and stay at 'By The Sea' airbnb next time. It is located in Batu ferringhi. Very nice place with a back gate which gives you direct access to the beach. It might be a bit pricey but it is worth it.
