Interesting journey by train from Kuala Lumpur to Penang. Ken, l think you are taking the ETS (Electric Train Service ) as the journey was only 4 hours plus. Another thing l noticed was you put on your sweater...it must be extremely cold. Buses and trains in Malaysia will always have the AC on full blast..😁🤓 Anyway, thanks for the nice comments about Malaysian transportation..truly appreciate it. Nice, spacious and cozy Abnb. You were lucky to get a train ticket to Penang during this school holiday week in Malaysia. I just took a bus on 4/6/2022 to Penang and return to KL on 6/6/2022 because the train tickets are all sold out. It took me 13 hours' ride each way. This is our highway condition which are fully jammed during holiday season. I took a 3 days' holiday to Penang and loss 2 days' travelling on the road.

The worst is when you leave the airport for the first time (not KL as it is a great airport for links to the city) No matter how much planning you do, I always get discombobulated, can’t find my transport and always end up getting hustled into a taxi and overcharged. Welcome to Penang, you should divide your time between Penang island and Penang mainland. Penang state consist of both Penang island and Penang mainland, not just the island. If not mistaken, you did not explore Penang mainland during your visit in 2020.

Wow..beautiful and spacious airBnB really nice overlooking the seaview. The taxi fares in Penang are much higher compared to buses or trishaw but now the Penangites use grabcar I guess , enjoy your stay Ken 👍🥰

The staff at the hotel hailed me a red cab last month. I was lucky to get a friendly driver. Spoke decent English and drove me to one of the finest places to have my bak kut teh's kick fixed. Charged me reasonably. I hired him for three hours for three destinations. Didn't use Grab as I was picked up for the airport the next day.
My fave place in MY! Please eat char kway teow for me esp the one from the lady with red hat. And OMG, the vita coco drink that u had is from PH, right? Can't wait to see u in PH. 😊
it's okay to use the taxi if grab is not available or there is no driver. You have to INSIST the taxi driver to use the meter though, and it's better you open up google maps/waze during the ride in case the driver decides to take a long way to get to your destination, safe travel ken!
Now they are using speed boat. Last few years the local goverment decided to change the ferry into speedboat. That’s so sad. Miss my old times riding the old ferry. You can feel the breeze, fresh open air and scenery of the surrounding at night
Regarding the red taxis. When grab/uber had just launched in the country, the red taxis were significantly more expensive. But nowadays the prices have more or less equalized. On a good day you can even find certain taxis being cheaper than grabcars. The main advantage of grab is the safety and you almost always get a nice person behind the wheels vs the stereotypical grumpy taxi drivers. Enjoy your videos. Thanks!

KTM ETS service is not to far different from the Deutsche Bahn ICE in Germany, except tickets are not checked onboard & trains a bit slower.
