The way arts are gained is similar to Cold Steel but rather than individual arts quartz you have an Arts Driver which is a collection of arts. The quartz which go in the atk, shield, etc slots only influences what Shard Skills you gain depending on how you arrange them which is the part similar to Sky.
I do like to hear these insights because as a PC player I’d never know this was an issue. Even playing the Switch demo I was playing docked so it wasn’t the same
Stopped on the demo shortly after the prologue, heavily enjoyed myself, so I don't want to get too immersed by continuing then having to wait for release. Can't wait for this and Ys X.
Since I was on Switch I had to stop at the prologue (not that it would matter anyway since I'll be playing on PC), but I understand. Also yes Ys X hype is getting up there too. Getting both Daybreak and Ys X in the same year is a special treat.
@@CommRioI took my time so for chapter 1 it was around 8-10 hours. Its been a while since I imported the game and beat it, maybe 80-100 hours? I still need to play Nayuta one of these days.
How much of the game is cutscenes/dialogue compared to actual gameplay I wonder from what I’ve seen in the demo it seems very slow paced. I’ve never played a trails game before
The Trails series is very story heavy so there is a lot of dialogue and cutscenes. There is still plenty of gameplay since the games are long, but the game takes it's time to set things up for big finales.
Great video! And a curiosity, in italian language, the sound "gn" is read like "ñ" and since Agnes it's a really common name in Italy (Agnese) it has to be read like that I think.
In English the name would be pronounced like I did in the video Ag-ness but because they accented the e that's the clue that it's pronounced Ah-nyess. I fully expect a lot of people to still pronounce it Ag-ness though after seeing people not adjust to the similar accented names in Fire Emblem Engage
I like the Ys games, but never gave the Trails games a try because I'm not very interested in turn-based combat. I'm also overwhelmed by the amount of Trails games out there. I did try this one, however, since there's a demo on PS5, which gave me over 9 hours of play time with the game. I actually enjoyed it quite a bit, though mostly because of the world and characters rather than combat. Combat at least gives the real-time option. The cutscenes were oddly inconsistent on which characters had actual spoken dialogue. It was oddly inconsistent on WHEN they'd have spoken dialogue as well. Still, that's not anything I can't work through. When the game goes on sale, I may try getting this one.
I wish you the best of luck when you do get around to Daybreak. As for the voices yeah that's a Falcom problem and unfortunately is getting worse as their scripts get longer. It was even present in Ys 9 but not as bad as Trails. We'll see how it goes for Ys X later this year.
I can't wait for the game to come out and also playing the demo was really exciting !!! Love the video and I really like how you broke it down about the trail series .
I'm playing Azure again right now, but still preordered Daybreaks Limited Edition because it's Trails. I am 7 games in and know what to expect. But unlike you, I despise minigames and usually ignore them. I never played Pom Party in Azure, because I have no patience to figure out how it works and I also just do not think it's fun. Same with the snowboarding in Cold Steel 2. I just didn't do it the whole game. Fishing is fine though. It just really makes my hands hurt with the button mashing in the first 2 games. But I still caught all the fish.
In the previous version the video turned to still frames in certain moments instead of playing the video. I fixed that so it’s now playing as it should
I’m excited for the third game in the series because of Yun Ka-Fai is finally showing up after years of him moving place to place Rean can finally reunite.
i played the demo and recently beat it and got an adopted daughter out of it, with a death threat from her father who disowned her lol
My favorite arc opener in the series. Can't wait to replay it in a few weeks!

The comments have been much better at explaining this than the game itself which is fortunate for me but unfortunate for those playing the game blind.
My first trails game, I enjoyed the demo and have will be getting the full game in release
Wooooo! Hope you enjoy!
I basically played this entire series. on a handheld. Really wish they were making the font text in UI elements a little bit larger.

@@CommRio Out of curiosity, how long did it take you to get thru the prologue?
@@hitomikagewaki31 Completing the prologue took me just over 2 hours

Don't worry this First Daybreak doesn't have ANY mini gamed Fishing is only in the 2nd one.
I wanted to buy the switch version but its twice the price of the steam version where I live 😢
Oooph that’s some rough regional pricing. Have you gotten previous Falcom games on Switch?
