I was at the 96 draft. I was baffled after pick after pick went by and Wallace had yet to be drafted. I couldnt understand it? He led Syracuse to the National Championship game? He dominated Walker and McCarty? How the hell did Walker get drafted before him? But there he was, at #18, not 19, at #18, the NYK were up. All of the crowd knew it was gonna happen. And when they called his name, the whole arena erupted. Altho it was too bad that he went there. with the NYK, he would be behind Mason and Oakley and C Smith. I think it was a travesty that the Celtics or the Nets didnt draft him. He would have made them better. He deserved to be a lottery pick. to me, he was another example of a player that was on the wrong team.
from what i read, he screwed himself by not getting a chance to workout for the Celtics before the draft. I think he would have fit well there and would have had a good career if he was drafted by the Celtics or the Nets. No doubt, he never thought he would drop so much and to the NYK, where he had no chance of ever starting. The Celtics drafted A Walker, and Nets took K Kittles. Yeah, he would have been a better choice for either.
@@davidnieves5908 walker was a volume player. he needed a lot of shots to score those points. and yes, if Wallace was on a team, where he was a main focus, he would have put us same numbers, and Celtics would have had success earlier.
I remember watching him not only in NBA GAMES but also movies like He Got Game and Bamboozled.
he coached me in my younger ball carrier he is such a nice man. i wish i was in contact with him now
John Wallace is on Instagram and is always on ‘Cuse Sports Talk on Twitch.

@asantos128 I remember Jeff Van Gundy openly said in an interview not that long ago that John Wallace never played defence either
Mason and Smith were already gone by his rookie season
it was disappointing when New York ain't play him fr
The last star player that the Knicks drafted was Ewing...
The Allan Houston expression at the end says it all “c’mon kid don’t be such an idiot, it’s embarrassing.”

how is he a better choice than Antoine for the Celts? Antoine had what, 8 or so pretty successful years with Boston?
@@mackenziek8383 Wallace was a better player. Look at the national championship game. Walker had stats bc team sucked.
He is nowhere as good as Antoine Walker in Cary kiddos is better so stop it

He also said he got into an argument when he worked out for the Clippers.
