Ash, you're a dead-set inspiration. Fantastic sensible advice. The phrase I always come back to with running is "gentle persistence", and mindful running is a great way to do it.

Wow, thanks so much Jon. Love the 'gentle persistence' phrase. That is such a lovely mantra.

@@RunBetterwithAsh We can all get caught up with chasing goals; running further, faster, more often etc, so it's easy to forget that staying fit is really about taking care of yourself. Both body and mind. I really like the way you've explained this in the video. It's brilliant.

Our mind is very strong over our body. We also should talk more positiv about ourselves (and be more proud 😉)

Thanks Ash this is great and I totally agree about listening to our bodies it's so easy to get engrossed with obsessing over PB s etc. Just enjoy the experience and your surroundings. 👌

Absolutely Tracy! Running can be such an amazing opportunity to check in with our body and learn about ourselves. I’ve figured out so much about my mental patterns from running too 😊

Thanks Ash! I spend more time checking in as I'm running these days - partly because when I do one of your stretches afterwards, you ask how my run was, and I like to tell you. 😂
Considering my mantra for tomorrow's run.... I won't be convinced by me saying "I love hills" 😂😂

Thank you for this video, Ash! I'm so glad I found your channel as I really like your approach. Thanks to you, I've been able to get the motivation I lacked before to also do more yoga, and more stretching, balance and strength exercises in addition. I've also started running without music or podcasts, and trying to remember to be more mindful of the body during my runs. My goal is the get the physical and psychological benefits from being more physically active, and not get hurts and pains, so I really love your approach. And I loved that you gave that "one step at the time" tip. I've used that on many a mountain hike here in Norway, as it can be mentally tough to reach an 1500 m high mountain top with a 3 km steep hike. But the trick really is to just think "just put one foot in front of the other" and repeat and repeat. Cheers, and thanx again!

Thank you so much for your comment Lena. It was so nice to read how you can relate to me and my outlook. I have struggled finding balance throughout my life as I have extreme tendencies to be all or nothing and can burnout quite quickly. I have suffered from anxiety and depression and running, mindful practices and body awareness have been some of the vital tools to help keep me present in times of difficulty. So I like to encourage a deeper relationship with our running as it can be a beautiful opportunity to spend time with ourselves and be grateful for having the body we have. Well done on regularly challenging yourself to climb mountains. I am a trail runner and love being in the mountains when I can. I did the Snowdon trail half marathon last year in Wales it was special. 😀❤

@@RunBetterwithAsh Thank you for sharing! I have experienced ceveral times now, that my mood declines with less physical activity, and I can't ignore that anymore. I've suffered from depression and anxiety myself, and learned that exercise is a very effective way for me to keep it from coming back. But it's a constant struggle as I didn't grow up being very athletic and I have never excelled at any sport. But, when I have managed to keep up and exercise routing for some weeks; WOW that feels SO good! I remember one run some years ago, when I was working out to do an OCR, I thought "I feel like an athlete!" It was such an amazing feeling! I felt light and strong running. Now I would like to get back to that, I see if I can manage to keep the routine. It will definetly help me a lot to get through the long and dark Norwegian winter. I almost fell into a depression last November, but I managed to get myself out for a few runs, and felt better again pretty fast, even though November is by far the worst month here as it's dark and usually rainy and without snow (that can light ut the world a lot for me). I think it's important to raise awareness about this amazing effect, although I can be very hard to get started if one is very depressed. That should be acknowledges too.
      Have a lovely weekend, Ash!

Hi Ash, great video as always. Your are right, sometimes I would be lost in running and the music at the same time and maybe 10 mins later I would realize that I was not breathing properly or I was holding my breath for too long then I would make adjustment and control my breathing. I will try being more conscious about it when I am running.
I needed your advice on something.
I was having few great week in terms of running for past one month there was a week in which I ran 5km every day for 6 day, the next week I did 7KM every day for 6 days and this week I did 8.5 km 2 days and then 11 km for next 3 days. (All on single stretch)
But today I did not felt good with my running I could only do 5km that too I had to take a break in between.
I was worried if what I did previously was a fluke or is it normal to have these bad days in running?
The only change I did this week was to introduce 30 min HIIT training to routine after the run and I did it for past 3 days and since then it seems my running is getting affected.
Am I doing too much too soon? It has been 37 days since I have started running.
Sorry for such a long comment.
