Quite strange indeed. A month or two ago I posted a quick "what happened to 'he who can't be named'?" on the Sampson Boat Co Friends Facebook page. I used his name, and the next day my question had been deleted, let alone answered. Then when the launch video was posted ~two weeks ago there was a review of many of the people who contributed, but not a word, let alone pictures, of Pe**. I don't use his name anymore because it looks like it'll be deleted. Anyway, he was a pivotal guy in the early days for sure.
I will miss Pete. A fine guy with superb skills. He really brought Tally Ho forward. Full respect sent to him along with my best wishes. Hopefully we will see what he is up to next. Mad skills building the battery locker racks, sole, companion way and engine compartment bulkheads. As always strong with a beautiful high quality finish. 👏👍⛵️🏝
You are sure to be missed Pete! I completely understand that you need to do other things, no worries there! All the best to whatever you're doing off camera. And thanks the rest of the crew and Leo in particular for all the amazing work and craftmanship put not only into the boat but into sharing the experience with the rest of us. All the best and much love from Sweden, Europe.
Watched you for years man. Every time I do I try to come up with words to do justice to my admiration of you and your work. In the cabinetmaker world, attributing the phrase ‘furniture grade” was about the clearest way to distinguish wood trades “Furniture grade” wood flooring comes to mind in fine European homes. But in a boat, remarkable that everything you lay your chisel to is with such accuracy and style. (I was bemused to see if you were going to hand plane the plywood though) Anyway, just thrilled with your work and your series and from a furniture guy (I was lucky to be a sample cabinetmaker at a fine 18th century reproduction house called Kittinger Furniture in Buffalo NY) it’s a thrill that you’re showing the world the worthiness even today of skilled craftsmanship in the approved tradition. Cheers.
I watch a LOT of these boat rebuilds. This one stands out for the sheer beauty of the work, the craftsmanship is truly outstanding. Pete has been a part of that, a true character and a wonderful shipwright. Will miss his cheeky sense of humour.
@@tux1968 The question is whether a fitting tribute would be welcomed by him. I suspect it would largely be for our benefit. I get the strong impression he learned to tolerate, rather than enjoy, what fame he did accrue during the project.
Best wishes to Pete in his new endeavors. Please pass along that he will be missed. Tally Ho would not be the ship that it is without his skills and hard work.

Adding to the Chorus of missing Pete. I truly hope the parting has been a good one and that we see him again over time to check in and see ‘what are you doing Pete?’ Such an interesting person and life, such a talented boatwright, and such a genuinely funny guy and core piece of this channel for so long. Fair well Pete, from Australia-your absence will be felt. And thanks again for another fantastic episode Leo and team.
Hey Pete, you will be sorely missed on Tally-Ho. I loved the uncertainty of your response to having a camera shoved in your face. I loved to watch your confidence and skill as a shipwright, and your amazing story. Thank you so much for everything, wishing you all be best in the future.
A sincere thank you to Pete-no-feet, the character that seasoned the videos from the very start. When Leo asked him “What are you doing, Pete?” he was shy at first, but gradually he thawed and revealed himself to be an excellent teacher. Thank you, Pete!
TBH, Pete is the reason I started watching this build. His personality and skill level are a pure joy to watch. This channel will not be the same without him.

Wow. First I'm getting emotional about a forklift truck, then I'm knocked sideways by the news that Pete is moving on. I never knew how emotionally invested in this project I'd become. Makes me wonder how its going to feel when she's finally back in the water - and if the day ever comes when she sails over to England and I can finally see her in the 'flesh'. I'm going to be a complete mess! Can't really imagine Tally Ho without Pete always there, but I guess we'll get used to it and the project will continue just as it has with the other hurdles Leo has encountered. All the best Pete - looking forward to keeping up with whatever you're doing. Apart from that, it was great to watch a 'normal' TH video again, with lots of stuff going on, lots of 'chisel action' (!), and even a very rare mistake (I was beginning to think they never happened!). Thanks, Leo and team for all that you do.

side bar for passersby: solvent pop in clearcoats isn't from air exiting the base material. happens on sealed/prepped metal panels too. It's parts and gasses of the solvent heating at different rates, almost like a slow, low temp- boil. hot panels means the coating material touching the panel heats up and expands and moves up through the cooler material above it.

Sad to see you go Pete, thank you for being such a great personality to watch - Best fishes going forward!
A tribute to a yellow forklift but a 10 second goodbye to Pete after all the work has done…. I’m confused. We love you Pete.
Yeah..................................................
That was the nicest Ode to a Hyster ever. So many nice tools including the Milwaukee hammer/drill. Keep up the amazing work.
Pete deserved at least that much of a tribute.
Can't beat a Makita drill hammer! 😅 Kudos to Pete and all involved! A real pleasure to follow along!
Not to be confused with a hammer drill.😉
I was looking for someone to comment on the use of the drill as a mallet/hammer. I knew it would be in here somewhere.
@@thomasarussellsr I worked with a glazier,,,his drill was beat to shit from using it as a hammer
Every tool has a hammer side!
@@tomstiel7576 oh, don't get me wrong, there are several tools in my collection that double as a hammer when they are handy and a hammer isn't. Everything from various pliers of different sizes, to wrenches and screwdriver handles, and even power tools like the back end of a drill or motor housing or a circular saw to bump things around.
Thank you Sorbatto for the most generous donation of the little forklift. That little champ has carried the entire weight of this project so far.
Adding to the Chorus of missing Pete. I truly hope the parting has been a good one and that we see him again over time to check in and see ‘what are you doing Pete?’
Such an interesting person and life, such a talented boatwright, and such a genuinely funny guy and core piece of this channel for so long.
Fair well Pete, from Australia-your absence will be felt.
And thanks again for another fantastic episode Leo and team.
Pete is a real stand up dude, if I may say so. He will be missed. Hope he will come back !
I’m always so amazed with the precision of cuts and fitting of shelf, bulkhead, mount etc…
TBH, Pete is the reason I started watching this build. His personality and skill level are a pure joy to watch. This channel will not be the same without him.
Ah no Pete's going? guy is a rock star!
I love how extra Leo is sometimes, making the slits in the plywood to make it look pretty.
Pete, all the best to you from Holland.
You gave me many great moments showing your humour and terrific craftsmanship!
I've been on and off grid for the last three years, We are gonna miss "Hey Pete, what ya doin'?" segments. Also where's Petes old pup. I miss that old man. Fair winds and calm seas Pete until the internet brings us all back together again. Back to you Leo.
PETE!!!! Man have been an absolute joy on this project. I do hope you will pop in or let us show up on you from time ti time! You will be missed for sure!!!
42:55 minute video dedicated to tool sharpening- SURELY we can expect a whole video dedicated to Pete’s massive contribution to the project. Such a shock that he gone in just a few words! Will miss him so much.
Pete will be sadly missed. Best wishes for his new projects.
Good corkers are hard to find.
Pete!!! You have done so much on this project and provided some serious skill. You should start your own project and channel!
Re: Pete would be a great channel and an instant sub. Great suggestion Mr. Destroyer.
Maybe something along the lines of "What Pete's doing"
@@phatputer lol, good name!
I would love to see Pete come back! He’s a special person. In fact the whole crew is exceptional. We never miss this video!
We will miss Pete for sure. I hope he finds other interesting and challenging projects to work on. I look forward to seeing what he is working on. Great design of the battery compartment!
Leo, the "retro" footage conserving the forklift reminded me of where you started and how far you have come with Tally Ho. I AM TOTALLY IN AWE OF YOU! Your design skills, woodworking skills, diversity of knowledge, filming/editing skills, on & on. And you are really a great guy. Thanks so much for the inspiration.
Patrick cutting that hole in the bulkhead was the slow TV version of the famous "The Shining" scene. ;-)
Leo: "gonna make a battery shelving unit..."
Us: "Cool."
Leo: "out of purpleheart..."
Us: "Woah."
Leo: "and then I am going to paint it."
Us: "What?!"
What kind of primer do you use to get paint to stay on an oily wood such as purple heart?
@@thomasarussellsr a solvent based primer
Dear CorwinGC
👍👌👏😁😁😁 Exactly!
Best regards luck and health.
It broke my heart seeing it all white
EXACTLY!
Pete has been an exceptional contributor to Tally Ho. His presence will be missed. Thank you Leo, for another wonderful and informative video. Your work is very much appreciated.
Oh, noooooooo!! I can't believe how sad I feel of Pete's departure! Please come back Pete as soon as you finish the other job!
Poncho and the Forklift were awesome together in all the scenes.
Pete, many thanks to your contribution to this project. May you continue with your dedication and inspiration in the field of wooden boats for a long long time
Sad to see Pete moving onto other things, but that's part of life.
Will miss Pete and hope he'll return to the project. Deep respect for Leo, who is one of the strongest project managers and mentors I have seen in my professional life.
Ever since the first episode where Pete became part of the project, I've dreamed of Leo and Pete putting the finishing touches on the boat together. Such a pity... you should have explained it to us yourself Pete. Don't you know how much we appreciate you???
Wishing you all the best!
What an absolute shame you have lost such a magnificent part of your team with Pete moving on. I wish him all the best & I'm sure he'll be sorely missed. Such a nice man. Progress on Tally-Ho has been amazing Leo & a true testament to you & your team. Thanks for sharing a fantastic journey. Billy J.... Queensland, Australia.
I'm going to miss Pete. He's outstanding Ship Right.
Greetings from Ireland!🇮🇪☘️ Wonderful to see your project nearing completion. As for Pete, your personal story, good humour and great skills are inspiring. I wish you every success and happiness for the future and of course, an Irish blessing!
Definitely won’t be the same without Pete. It’s a shame we didn’t get an on-camera “goodbye” from him.
Wow, a lot going on. Good luck to Pete and I hope he's well. He has been a real asset to the restoration and the entertainment. Promise me you'll creep up behind him occasionally and ask him what he's doin'
Good idea 👍👍👍
Have loved Leo’s journey with Tally Ho, Pete was a great part of this story & I will miss him, lots of luck for the future Pete xx
I learned a lot from Pete and not just about building a boat.
In French there is a proverb "tout ce qui mérite d'être fait mérite d'être bien fait" but here Leo "tout ce qui mérite d'être fait est absolument bien fait".
You are all incredible !
Good luck with your next adventures Pete. Your light hearted attitude has always been a welcome addition to the project videos.
Pete, you're a good man, and have been a massive, massive enabler for this project. Hope to see you back. Will miss you man. Mike 🇦🇺
I’m sure we will all miss Pete, he has been a wonderful asset to the project and the Hyster aka Pancho’s taxi, what a work horse! Excellent episode by the way!!!!
I get emotionally attached to my machines too, Leo. Fantastic tribute to the venerable and ever faithful Hyster. 👍 Sorry to hear that Pete is leaving the project. A trusted craftsman like him is hard to come by, and he has certainly been a mainstay of the channel. Good luck to you, Pete.
A touching goodbye to a long-time vital member of the team whose hard work has given so much to the project and whose personality has added so much to the videos, what a great little forklift. Will miss Pete too!
;)
Lol. Well said. Whenever someone needed their heavy loads lifted or to keep things moving along you couldn't ask for a better....forklift. Oh yeah, Pete was pretty cool as well
Pete is the only real pirate. All the best for you matey.
Pete will definitely be sorely missed. I enjoyed every segment he was in.
I have to say...I love the mix of nostalgia footage mixed with the new Leo. I've been here since the beginning and have loved every minute of it. I would love to see more of that. Adios Pete and via con dios! Been a pleasure getting to know you.
And I love the colour grading change for that part.
I really enjoy the ethic and craftmanship you and all your team work to, including Pete! Thanks for all your videos, I learn so much from them.
Pete sure will be missed from the videos!
Count me in on thanking Pete, for me as a viewer it´s allways been a pleasure watching him with his amazing skill. All the best for the future Pete, and stay just as you are.
Sad to see Pete go ! What a great team though, so impressed with the project management and coordination by Leo. Patrick is fitting those sole boards incredibly well. Can’t wait to see the great work from Richard and Clifton great group of skilled craftsmen!
Excellent work as all ways. Pete will be sadly missed, great guy excellent craftsman.
Life is all about characters and Pete has been a star - good luck in your new ventures Pete - hope to see you in the future along the way. Many players have contributed to this fantastic project and I am sure more will play their part in the completion. Great video Leo - consummate skills by the team in every little detail. RUclips has been a real game changer to allow us viewers from afar to enjoy the progress. Thanks for sharing!
Leo and team are building a masterpiece. It's been a real pleasure watching craftsmen at work (that includes you ladies). I am going to miss Pete. Hope to see him from time to time and best of luck to him.
side bar for passersby: solvent pop in clearcoats isn't from air exiting the base material. happens on sealed/prepped metal panels too. It's parts and gasses of the solvent heating at different rates, almost like a slow, low temp- boil. hot panels means the coating material touching the panel heats up and expands and moves up through the cooler material above it.
