We have a 2020 LT approaching 60,000 miles and are happy with it. No significant issues. I’m not overwhelmed by the 1.5 turbo but the exterior design has aged well and these can be found for a decent price.
For the money, is not a bad option. I used to drive an Equinox with this drivetrain and performed well. Chevy should make a mild redesign and keep the cost low.

I had a 2013 2.5 Malibu, sold it at 120k - I had loads of issues (all 4 wheel bearings, 2 bad water pumps, bad alternator, faulty heater core, rusted lower oil pan that I replaced, cam solenoids, air bag light, and random check engine lights that came and went) - hopefully this one is better built and has quality to it, the last gen was horrible (I changed my oil every 4k and was very easy on the car throughout ownership)
@@asimoford4994 yep I believe it, I'm sure GM is working on improving their 4cyl engines (though they outsource em a lot to other manufacturers that have experience building smaller motors)

Seriously, this car deserves extra special attention right now. It is the only American FWD sedan still in production and it’s planned to be discontinued this November. Such vehicles became common in the early 1980s and many models were in production until the late 2010s when this became the only such remaining model. Also, because many foreign brands offer a large selection of cheap sedans in the American market and many Americans prefer SUVs over sedans, the odds of any American brand ever investing in a new sedan ever again are unfortunately very slim to none, except for the RWD Ford Mustang 4-door sedan which Ford has officially considered. So not only will this mark the end of an era for a type of vehicle, it’ll also be everyone’s last chance to get a brand new American FWD sedan in their lifetime before their chance is lost forever.
I got a 2022 LT and I’m liking it so far. The acceleration is underwhelming, but I’m not trying to drive fast. It’s a clean, simple car. The only major complaint I have so far is the shift to park issue when turning the car off. It’s really annoying. Other than that I threw some tint and black rims on it and am making it work.
I got a 2024 LS it's great. The turbo is cool, I push it every now and then. My wife has 2016 2.0 LT. I've seen this same issue with the Park shift. It's not all the time. But message come up sometimes.

@@Blank00Also, it is not a true sedan anymore, it is now a liftback with a tailgate and apparently, many people are not happy with it, probably because the previous generation didn’t have it.
The thing with the Malibu is that you never know what model year it’s from. Could be a 2024 or a 2015. They all have looked the same for 10+ years imo. $27K and you don’t even have LED headlights or brake lights? The dash looks like it’s stuck in the early 2010’s apart from the small center screen. No full digital dash or at least a half digital. My 24’ Civic sport has those features and more for the same price point lol
@@s99614 LED headlights don’t go out as quickly as regular bulbs. They also use 75% less energy. They’re 80% more efficient than regular bulbs, & put less strain on the cars electrical system. They’re also not that expensive to replace considering it’s common on new cars now.
Id never own another AWD car and I live in MN. Its not worth the extra cost, worse mpg, and the cost to replace it down the road when it needs fixing. FWD is very adequate unless you live off some country road, but at that point, a cars very low clearance will get you stuck anyway.
