_sweet! Concise and to the point. I have to admit im a fan of this short bite sized format video. If I drop a knife Im going to be moving my feet rather than practicing my juggling skills. Another informative one, keep them coming Joe (and Ida)_
Love watching your videos. Keep them coming and I cannot believe that you only have 900 subscribers. Both of you are amazing and I am learning so much from you. Keep following your nose! From your Canadian friend Up North.
Such an awesome video. Simple, direct, and useful. I have been making mallets with anvils for soggy earth. You basically make two mallets and carve a point in one of them. That point gets stuck into the ground and done! anvil. :-) Hope this helps, my man!
you might be able to skip widening the kerf if you take the batoning slower and knock out smaller pieces. id imagine it would take overall less time than sawing out the kerf, and you have to round down the edges of the handle anyway. I've done it that way to solve the whole 'wood getting stuck" issue, although ive only made a handful of batons. sawing around on a small round object just doesn't seem as safe as batoning downward on it against a flat surface.
I hear yah 👌🏼 I do make a fair amount of these over the year. Besides the widening section and the little montage. Widening the kerf is the quickest way. In the vid the kerf was cut in real time. Saw safe and in the channel. Maybe 30 seconds ? Repeat once more and your good. Also battoning off smaller pieces is fine but can usually mean more carving at the end. Also when batoning the mallet most people end up chasing the mallet around the block. Kinda like myself 🤣 thank you for watching and your constructive advice brother 🤜🏼🤛🏼
Great video, as always, you guys! This reminds me, I'm in desparate need of a new mallet myself (mine is all gnarled up, lol). Sidenote: Love that Banshee knife! Such a good looking blade.
I like the tip about widening the kerf. Thanks and good job!
Thank you too Rich !

Yet another good one. And the truth about a falling knife is a deep truth indeed.
A lesson people only need to learn once brother. For sure an important one
@@LivingtoLearn Agreed. Only took me once as a kid. And that was a fairly dull knife. A honed scandi edge? That would be serious.
Nice one Joe and Ida.
Much appreciated 🤜🏼🤛🏼
Another good one guys thanks for the advice / a falling knife has no handle .
Hey brother! Thanks for watching. Agreed too many times I have seen people try and grab axes and knives as they fall. Always makes my heart stop hahah
