  • The Aquatico Bronze Sea Star looks to be a fair amount of watch for the money: a reasonable price tag of $299 / £235; offering 300m water resistance, Seiko NH35 movement and a solid bronze case.

    I think the play on the bezel is intentional to keep the bronze on bronze from melding together as bronze can do.

      That's an excellent point, I hadn't though of that.

      Sounds very plausible.
      Had a Brittanica from early 1990's which was bronze bezel....LOVED that watch.

    Looks like a great deal for a bronze diver. I would have liked to have seen a rubber or silicone strap instead of the black mesh, but at that price it's hard to complain. Nice review!

      I know, the milanese strap is a weird one. Doesn't go at all!

    Thought I would mention it, it is 6 beats per second but only 3 ticks per second!

    I got it with the black dial. As you say, the slight bit of 'spring' in the bezel is a small issue. Mine runs -/+4 so is pretty spot on. My biggest gripe is the single internal domed sapphire creates some great refraction but the edge of the crystal is frosted and it can appear quite white or pale between the bezel and chapter ring when viewed at an angle. It's not a massive deal and I really like the whole package.
    Incredible macro shots - well done.

    I received this watch a few weeks ago for review with the green dial. A few changes have been made for the better. The buckle design now has more curvature and definition and there is no longer a mermaid on the case back. The strap leather is actually Horween, probably the best available.

    I bought one because I love the watch, but the website said that there were only 88 made worldwide. Since this video is 5 years old, they must be having a hard time moving them.

    No play in my bezel which is good. Amazing price and a great watch. I've regulated mine as it was on around minus 6 secs a day. Got it down to minus 1 a day. Lovely patina starting to form after few weeks. Leather strap is comfy but not waterproof. Apparently u do a rubber strap with bronze buckle. I've tried to order one but no joy yet. Though I did get email response when I asked. £233 I paid for mine direct and took a week to deliver. I opted for black dial and ceramic bezel and must say its lovely to wear. Love the watch. Great review. Might get another all bronze watch. Plus all steel with Pepsi style bezel

    I have number 63/88 with the blue dial. I like it well enough and it keeps great time. It runs just slightly fast which I like. Nice for a $300.00 watch. If I wanted to spend more (a lot more) on a bronze watch I would have bought an Oris Carl Brashear.

    Beautiful watch and great review ! as usual :). I would put the spec details in the side, where it is, it hides a quite big part of the screen (not for long period of the time by the way).

      Thanks so much for your feedback - I'll definitely take that on board and tweak the specs overlay. I'm trying to make more of an effort with my reviews so all feedback is welcome :)

    I bought a green ceramic dial and green bezel, looks great on the leather strap, and if it gets a verdigris patination.....

    I own this watch, and like it for the price, but here are my complaints:
    - the crown: threading feels/operates very rough....doesn't screw back in very smoothly, I've found myself having to back screw it to get it to screw in smoothly. Also, there is not a clean "pop" after unscrewing the crown...I sometimes have to "pull" the crown after unscrewing it just to get it out to the first/wind position. Feels poorly manufactured.
    - the strap is nice, but I wish the buckle didn't jut out so much, It's very sharp and sticks out quite a bit, so it tends to scrap and catch things easily. It's completely flat. I think curving it would have remedied this.
    - as you pointed out, the bezel does have a little bit of play, and is very "spongy" when pushing down on it into the watch case...not exactly a reassurance of quality.
    All said though, this is a sub-$300 dollar watch, but also feels a lot like a....sub-$300 dollar watch
    If you're a stickler for quality, you might want to take a look at the Helson or Christopher Ward....although, I have no direct experience with those watches...they just seem nicer from reviews I've seen.

    Do you think $190 us is a good price for one of these used?

    • @ddbtdd
      @ddbtdd 2 года назад

      Depends on the condition. Whether new or used a good price on anything is what makes sense to you.

      Woo Hoo! It took eight weeks but it finally arrived. I chose the chocolate brown face w/bronze bezel. No play in the bezel at all by the way, pretty snug. The leather strap is massive and will require considerable breaking in. The buckle is flat and square but it hasn’t been the problem that I thought it would be. The watch also came with an oversized rubber strap with a silver buckle. (Why a silver buckle, you ask. Me too) I do like the watch a lot BUT, the case back has the dolphin only. Nobody riding it. I don’t understand why and I’m not going to try to communicate with the Chinese to find out.

    don't like that it is just blatantly using a copy of the tudor hands

      Better than the Rolex mercedes hands though!

    • @zezem
      @zezem 5 лет назад +4

      A lot of Microbrands are using the 'snowflake' hands from the Tudor. The Nth Barracuda and Nacken are other 'offenders'. I can't stand the mercedes hands - used by countless brands and the snowflakes are a good looking alternative.
