Growing up in Milwaukee during the 70's was so much fun! We had the Brewers at County🏟Stadium🏟, as well as, usually, 1 pre-season game and 3 reg-season games for the Packers. I got to see my first Packers game live at County Stadium in 1974 or maybe 1975-76. It was against the Lions and we lost. But I was just amazed at the incredible experience that I got to see live for the 1st time! I LOVED IT! 😍❤😍😍😍♥😍♥❤ The 70's were a special time, and an awesome place for a kid to grow up!
These TWIB, TWIF shows were so fun for me. I LOVED the Half-Time Highlights on Monday Night Football🌙 so much so I begged my parents to allow me to stay up late so I could watch the Highlights. It was my one opportunity to see the AFC games, or especially the newest teams, the Seahawks and the Buccaneers. It was awesome!

Cardinals' Coach, Bob Holloway, brought some Vikings with him. Had Cuozzo as quarterback, Jim Hargrove at left linebacker (#60) - and that was ex Viking defensive back, Dale Hackbart, (#49) putting the hurt on Eagles' Poe James (#27), on the swing pass here.
Jets were very competetive, and especially tough, defensively, in '72. I think they went 7-7.
Rams wore the blue at home. Bright, classy jerseys they'd rarely used, back in that era.

First to comment. Very interesting information in this Detroit Lions Chicago Bears match up. In the prior year 1971 Greg Landry quarterback for the Detroit Lions established a rushing record for NFL quarterbacks. However it only lasted one year because Bobby Douglas set the record this year in 1972.

That would be 968 yards for the season

I got my first full size official Wilson NFL football for Christmas that year emblazoned with Greg Landry's name on it.

Sad to see Duane Thomas (33) just walk out on the game. He was loaded with talent - could’ve been one of the great ones. San Diego making a mighty comeback vs Dallas. ‘72 was the year of the Dolphin. 🐬

The second half of the 49ers-Packers game and the entire Redskins-Jets game were not televised, because of a strike by the CBS technical crew for better pay and working conditions.

I was at that Redskins vs Jets game. I was so pissed off that the Jets could never achieve a winning season all throughout the 1970s when other teams simply embarrassed them in home games at Shea Stadium. I used to leave the stadium feeling totally let down. I couldn’t understand why the Miami Dolphins became so powerful and the Jets so weak after Super Bowl III.

The field widened - a lot - after 1969 thanks to the merger. The Jets, who had peaked in '68, made the AFL Playoffs again in 1969 - but after that, they were stuck in a division with the Dolphins (who were coached by Ewbank disciple Don Shula - and I assure you he never forgot losing to Ewbank so decisively in 1968) and the Colts (who loathed the Jets for obvious reasons).
The Colts collapsed after Shula's departure; Don McCafferty won with them in 1970, but it was Shula's team. Ted Marchibroda was able to rebuild them in a few years. Then OJ started making his presence felt in Buffalo and Chuck Fairbanks turned New England around... the AFC East in the 70's was just brutal. The only worse division was probably the AFC Central.

Those old straight on placekickers just look so pathetic now. Hard to believe anything over 50% was once considered good.

Pull up the Super Bowl III telecast and watch Lou Michaels help the Colts lose.
Before the Gogolaks and Yepremian, misses from inside the 20 decided quite a few games (even with ten-yard closer goalposts).
