The orchestra conducted by John Towner Williams.
The song "Wind Beneath My Wings", recorded for "Today" in 1987, two years before it was a hit for Bette Midler, was meant to be somewhat autobiographical. Como also sang this song some 5 years earlier as a tribute to Como's boyhood idol, Bing Crosby.

Perry Como represented all that was good in his singing and in his lifestyle. Never any scandal or bad publicity. Today's entertainers should take a page out his book and stop acting like spoiled children. He was one of a kind. R.I.P. Perry

I didn't remember until now that that was a song {Wind Beneath My Wings}. I purchased a
wall hanging with those words and hung that in my husband's bathroom years ago. It is still there.

This no doubt this was for Rosellle but a part if it was also for Bing. He and Roselle were married since they were both young and his love for her was undying. Thank God they spent their last years together down in Jupiter in their beautiful home. We miss you Perry , Love Jeff and Linda

Much better rendition by Perry, of course. This is a beautifu song made even more beautiful by Perry and of course arranged and accompanied by Nick Perito on the piano. You can tell its Nicks arrangement by just listening to it. Two GREAT performers working together to make a good song even better.
His recording of this for hi album was taken from this PBS salute to Bing Crosby, this was beautiful the way Perry made this song his own, he was a great performer and close friend, Perry we miss you more everyday !!

For some unfathomable reason RCA in their infinitive wisdom decided to not release this as a single, much to the chagrin of Perry. His performance of this song which is already a standard, is simply beautiful, not only Mr. Como's rendition, but the sumptuous accompaniment of the orchestra and chorus.

It was fitting that Perry gave tribute to Bing. Early on in his career, you could hardly tell the difference between him and Bing. Of course, he found his own niche later on. You would not confuse him with Bing on this song for example. But singing like Bing was how he got his career going. There were many singers back then who tried to sound like Bing. Perry was special in that he developed his own style as times went on,
