Seriously, Walmart is not our friend. Spend your money with people who deserve your business.
You can still get 22lr, but I always look to see if they put in any 9mm by mistake 😅

Walmart still sells 12 g. Shot shell. My area anyway. I always found it even in the Covid period. So much for 5.56 being the SHTF Caliber...😂

If you have the means, you should have a good amount of ammo stashed while it’s readily available.

Yep. No more craft brew the last year and a half. Drinking colors banquet now. Which is not bad and I don’t drink every day but it’s the few dollars here, and a few dollars there that you save is what helps.

Couple boxes every other week and you really don’t have to sweat it. Then you not dumping 4 to 600 clams every time you have to buy a case. I usually just pick up a few boxes on my way home a few times a month whether I need it or not. 🤷♂️ I’ll buy a case if it comes up on a great sale but I’m hoping it doesn’t get more expensive. Dry firing just isn’t the same.🤷♂️

Amen! While reloading recently, I happened to notice the sticker on the box (many years old) and nearly started sobbing because of how cheap it was compared with current prices 😭
@@Galfrid I think it is because they are trying to get us to only buy the ammo they load, or maybe they are still using most of the primers to load ammo because even though there is not an ammo crisis per say just the shear numbers of people has increased so much that they just need more to load the factory ammo with, either way I don't like the current prices but lets face it inflation was going to drive up the prices at some point anyhow, and we have been kinda spoiled by just how cheap they used to be, I just actually sold some (3000) large rifle primers to a local gun shop because they can't find any, the price right on the boxes was $37.99 per 1000 for federal premium and CCI, and no they were not all that old maybe 6 years old, they were delighted to get them and paid me $80 a 1000 (don't worry I still have PLENTY for my own use, you can save if you buy in volume, I just recently bought 20,000 small pistol primers and 20,000 small rifle primers at $60 a 1000 strait from the source so to speak, but even buying just a few thousand at a time you can get them for about $80 for 1000 from places like powder valley or pacific northwest munitions, midsouth shooters and some others, I got it kinda made because I live veryclose to Lewiston Idaho where CCI primers are made and I know some people having worked there in years past so well I just can do that sort of thing, but yea prices reflect the new and rather F'ed up world and as they say if you wanna play your gonna just have to pay.

9mm a year ago was down around $12.99 a box now its settled around 14.99 a box. Reloading components are still scarce although things have improved.

academy literally just had their monarch ammo for 9.99 and there’s plenty of sites that offer 11-13 a box for brass
9mm isn't the problem, rifle rounds are the problem. 7.62x39 has risen due to Biden cutting off imports and 5.56 has risen due to Biden throttling federal supply. It's all Biden unfortunately. If we have a legitimate election, this should correct

.223/5.56 prices are still elevated since the October panic. Before that the price was about .40 per round but currently it's .47 per round.
Good advice, Dan. If I shoot 250 rounds at the range, I buy 300 or 400, or occasionally box of defensive ammo instead of the extra rounds. After a while, it adds up to a decent buffer in case availability drops or prices shoot up.

Most folks should have a few boxes put away, and many have a few cases put away...owning multiple calibers we have a decent amount of some, and bare minimum for others...our budget is a mess right now, and ammo buying has suffered, the end result we are rationing our range ammo to make sure our weekly range visit continues for quite a while...it ain't that hard to slow consumption, and we note there is still plenty, albeit high priced, ammo in our area...

here in West MI, my local Dunham's has ammo on sale every week and every time I visit, it's a ghost town, no panic buying, plenty of ammo to go around 👍.
Same at my Dunham’s, but I did notice the non-sale price jumped by $2 for 9mm and 5.56 a week or two ago.
I’m in Gr, yeah, Dunhams has it, and no one wants it, the price is trash, I don’t buy from them. They’re sale price isn’t really a sale to me. I hear you though. Dunhams ammo section is full and no one’s buying. Wait until this summer when shit starts hitting the fan.
The only sale prices at Dunham's that has been any good is Aguila Super Extra 22LR for around $14 or $15 a box for 250 rounds and their Black Friday 2023 sale on one 9mm round. All their other prices are much higher than online prices. I was buying 9mm online in January 2022 for 30 CPR when local prices were 50 CPR or more. Now I pay 24 CPR online for CCI Blazer Brass and other brands while Dunham's sale price on Blazer is 28 CPR. Buy a case online to get free shipping and same $40. My local Dunham location has had a lot of ammo on shelves since I started looking in January 2022. Back then most other stores that did not overcharge nearly as much had very little ammo on their shelves.

Vista told customers that after January 1 the new prices would go into effect. Anything after Jan 1 , the new prices would go into effect no matter when it was ordered. Thats the document I saw and read at my FFL.I have no idea why it hasn't shown in price yet but I am told that ammo sales are increasing. People are buying it up here in OH. You would be wise to stock up. By the way Vista is the Largest supplier of ammo in the nation.

I remember hitting 30+ Wal-Mart when they started clearancing 223/556 and pistol ammo.. Buying ammo at 50% off the regular retail prices at the time. Still have some of it put away but a good bit went to friends and family who needed it in 2020-2022..
On hand minimum 1,000 rounds for every caliber you don't often shoot, 5,000 rounds for more common calibers (10,000 is even better) - BARE MINIMUM.

At the range today, it wasn’t crowded like it normally would be.. the stores are also full of ammo 44mag to .22lr.. still lots of large caliber ammo available.. we start getting primers in around September of 23.. I have reloaded about 2300 rounds so far with the scare of not having ammo like I did 20-22.. great video as usual

I agree whole heartedly with you. Been buying 9mm at academy every other week in 250 round boxes when they go on sale cause the price increases haven’t happened yet.
There is ammo in my area, nato rounds are lower than they have been for awhile, but prices have went up $1 or $2 per box here recently.
As of right now it's everywhere but expensive as hell already

What I did several years ago was figure out what I thought I needed in each caliber I have and then keep it stocked at that amount. As far as price of ammo goes I think we can expect it to go up in price just like everything else does. Personally I’m more concerned about the price of food.

I always fill up my gas tank anytime it is anywhere close to half full. And I buy my ammo by the case (1000 rounds). You should too.
I've always used Ammoseek and I can say that you'll find anything you need, its great especially for finding deals on bulk ammo, but also to get a good grasp of what the prices overall are. Some of those online stores will included free shipping if you spend over $200-300 as well.
I haven't heard "The Voice" in a while. Well done Dan. I will pay a little extra if I have too but I won't pay hoarder and gouger prices. I used to see gun show sellers selling .22 LR for 75 bucks for a box of 333.

I ordered a couple of ammo and I didn't pay a lot of money but shipping is ridiculous, unfortunately I can't go out to get some ammo myself. We have enough ammo both kinds well I have more hollow points than practice ammo but I have enough.

Totally agree. with the exception of my local Bass Pro where the 9mm shelf was empty, it's been pretty plentiful at most places. The price as been creeping up to about $15.99 for a box of range 9mm., but still far less than it was during the shortage. However, .38 sp. and .45 are still very pricy.
Many bought 223/556 while prices were low from about October 2022 to early October 2023. Some said to hold off on buying Browning/Winchester Lake City ammo when they had a 25% rebate that expired at the end of September 2023. They said hold out for lower Black Friday 2023 prices. Others got ammo for about 31 CPR after rebate. The lowest price I saw without rebate was from Velocity Ammo Sales on Oct 4 where a case was $380. Many regretted not buying during the rebate period or during $380 a case sale on the 4th. Many of those that were buying during the low period do not need to buy today at higher prices. 9mm has been fairly steady at 24 to 25 CPR on sale since October 2022.
I have a stock pile of 2k training ammo, and about 1k in defense ammo.
I usually buy a few boxes to use at the range when I plan on going.
I have over 10k total ammo. My plan is to incorporate FMJ as self defense in a SHTF scenario. I try to pick up a box here and there when I can

@@waynemessner9691Never too much indeed. What I have pales in comparison to some, but in a true SHTF scenario I'm set. Folks with 10s of thousands rounds better be hunkered down tight cause you ain't bugging out with all that. Hell, even 10k will be a stretch.
@@robertsims3759 it would also depend on the area you live. Certain areas will be far more chaotic than others. Being in a smaller area the chaos should be less than a major city.

Yeah ammo is looking good, I got 40 S&w federal 180 grain on sale at Aim surplus $13.99 was $20. I’m buying a little each week and trying to stock best I can. Got to slow down a good bit but sitting good, been stocking .38spl, .357, .327, 9mm, and then those 40s&w, also got a few cases of cheap .380 that will last me years. Mostly shoot 9mm and 357mag/38spl this year.
I still have walmart bulk value packs i got at cost when they were fire saling all that ammo .
I’m a real old timer,70, n I can remember buying a box of 50 round 9mm for $4 so it’s tough paying $15 for it now for range ammo. Wisely I been stocking for years.
I hope not, i was hoping to stock up on .308 ans 357 mag ammo this year and for good measure probably a few thousand rounds of federal hst 9mm and 45acp.
I saw some 44 long Colt at Dunham’s the other day as well as 44 Magnum, 30-30 and other hard to find calibers. Pricey but they had it.
My ffl has plenty of powder, but the price of it did go up.

I don't think people were so upset with hoarders, people that had a significant stockpile.
People were upset with people that would buy ALL of the ammo a store had them immediately go to another store and buy ALL their ammo too.
Those are the people that are creating scarcity and causing panic buying.
I remember years ago waiting in line to buy some 22 ammo and the guy in front of me asked if they had any 22 ammo, which he was told they were sold out.
He then explained that he just came from another store where he had bought out ALL the 22 ammo they had too.
I think he went on to complain about the shortage.

Just got a case today there’s a lot of that ammunition from different countries out there and all of it so far seems to be working OK
It’s still a pain to find 10mm ammo at reasonable prices. It’s possible just hard and when you think you’re getting a good deal you find you paid for rounds with power closer to 9mm. So I don’t practice with what I carry, I can’t afford to!

the thing that generates an ammo crisis the fastest is a bunch of people online declaring an Ammo Crisis
It’s just the opposite in Arizona in the winter time there’s a lot of outdoor shooters in the summertime you’ll see a lot more indoor shooters but they seem to be pretty consistent numbers all year round and I still think the prices of ammo ridiculous I can room remember it seems like only six or eight years ago just before the pandemic paying nine dollars a box for 9 mm now it’s the cheapest you can find us $13 a box
I can’t stand Sportsman’s Wharehouse ammo prices in Arizona, I remember their price was always higher than online prices even when it was $9 a box 😢

I do wish to share first hand knowledge and experience with you about reloading components in the current market, which is different than what you said today. Reloaders can confirm what I am going to say. Powder and primers are not anywhere near what they were before the ammo panic for availability. Powder in general is probably at around 20% availability vs pre-ammo panic, unless you want to pay through the nose to gunbroker resellers. And prices are generally about 50% higher pre-ammo panic.
Regarding primers, there is still a shortage of shotshell primer availability, and off and on shortages of large rifle primers. Large pistol primers are just now becoming available online without having to scour, but still lacking in brick and mortar stores. And most importantly, prices. While ammo prices are generally close to pre-panic prices, primers are actually triple in price at your average retailer, online or otherwise. What used to cost around thirty per thousand is currently around 90 per thousand. That's not gunbroker reseller prices, that's MidwayUSA, Brownells, Target Sports USA, MidSouth Shooting Supply, Natchez, etc. It still pisses me off to no end because if ammo manufacturers can bring their ammo prices to around 15% higher than the ammo panic, obviously they do not need to keep powder prices at 50% and more higher than before the panic, and primers at triple the pre_panic prices. If you have any doubt about what I am saying, ask any reloader who did not stock up before 2019/2020.
Despite those prices, I have been budgeting primer purchases for 2021, 2022, and 2023, as primers slowly became available again. I literally keep a spreadsheet to keep track of my primer purchases, so that I budget in around 60 bucks a month for primers. I also know exactly how many primers I have at any moment as I track it on the spreadsheet and do an inventory every couple of months. This way I won't get screwed in November come election time, when the next ammo panic will begin (but hopefully it does not last long).
Lastly, I remember your video where you said essentially "don't panic about the 7 to 11 per cent increase." I definitely agreed and still agree with you. However, I am still pissed off at Federal/CCI/Remington, as the primer prices are still triple, and I am now seeing the 11 to 12 percent increase in primer prices over December 2023 prices, first locally and now online as of last week. How the hell do they even justify that increase when the primer prices never went down from ammo panic prices, literally? When primers first just started to became available again in July 2021, I bought them for 70 per thousand at MidwayUSA and Brownells; now they are at 90 per thousand at those same places.
So hopefully you will see my comment here as additional information for you, as opposed to disagreeing with you. I do feel it is important to share accurate information, so that is why I am sharing it with you. Hopefully you see that as a good thing.
I respect you and the well made and well considered videos that you make, and I hope I am contributing to that.

If you reload, you don’t have to worry about it. Same thing applies to components, though. Stock up when you can. When I first started reloading, primers were $7.00/1000. A bit more than that now, when you can find them.
THe ammo companies have been screwing us for decades......45 ammo is 42 cents a round while 44 mag in 90 cents and for what? Both have same weight bullet for the most part, just a slight bigger case and few cents in powder. And what about the 38 special been used forever yet 48 cents while 9mm, which is the same bullet for the most part is 22 cents........I could go on. About 85% of ammo cost is packing and shipping with labor, very little for the material. It is like the gas companies charging $3.50 for regular and $4.00 for premium when congressional investigations decades ago proved both cost the same to refine. So no matter who owns what....we still get screwed over. Only the Russians with Wolf and Tula were cutting us a break--30 carbine was 24 cents, now with them gone 89 cents!! The stupid sanctions have not hurt Russia, just hurt western consumers.
5.56 ammo prices have increased. Last year I could buy 1000rnds of 5.56 green tip for about $450-$460, It's now close to $580 for 1000rnds.
Right now ammo seems pretty decent. But never buy .327 federal mag, federal only makes 5 boxes of HST per year and hard to get good hollow points that work. But fyi for any other people like

You never did it but many other channels did cause people to panic buy when they already had a ton at home and then the people that actually could use some couldn't find any because of the panic buyers listening to youtube channels.

Gun prices are falling some are even approaching prepandemic pricing. The firearm companies can't be happy with Federal/ATK/Remington/Winchester.

I've noticed the price for the rifle & 22 lr ammo has doubled since the pandemic.
I just made a video on this. I hinted to the powder shortage, my point is that maybe we should slow down buying new guns just to have and spend the dollars on ammo. Most of us have more guns than we can put in car to take to the range but without ammo they are useless. I have always kept some ammo on hand but after 2012 crap I have a large amount of the calibers I use. I have also reloaded for 45 yrs so I have the capability of several thousand rounds there. Just be ready

I bought 160 rounds two months ago. One trip, I got three 20 round boxes for $67.00, another trip, I got two 50 round boxes for $86.00. Not too bad.

My belief is that we are okay until about September. Then I would look for a run on ammo and certain semi auto firearms. The problem that is going to cause will be bad because the ammo companies are not producing ammo at the rate they did in 2023. They have slowed down a bit because of the inventory that is available. So when a run starts, they will be behind and it will be a few months before they can catch up.
Where are the 410 shotgun shells ?
I just saw 357 sig ammo on my local farm store where I live. 63.00 a box for 50 rounds. Pretty sure inflation caught up and superceded it. By the way they were still there when I left the store

My local gun shops are awful. They are all price gouging. Much cheaper to use ammoseek. I also stocked up on reloading components. I have enough to make 20k rounds of 9mm and 10k rounds of 5.56 whenever I need it. For plinking, I only shoot 22LR.
Yeah, bulk is the way to go. My local gunshop is selling 150rds of 9mm luger 115 grain for $100. That's about 70Cents a round... I bought 1krounds for 25cents a round grand total.

I have plenty of ammo so shortages don’t bother me. I also diversified with air powered guns in .177 pellets. I started just a few years ago and I believe I have more pellets I can use in my lifetime I have several rifles and pistols all self powered so you don’t need Co2 or compressors to operate.

In California prices for ammo & ammo components have doubled or tripled. As for the rest of the country I don't know. Plus the governor is talking about passing an 11% tax.

Are prices higher than I would like? Always. Are we in a crisis? Not nearly, today. Buy, shoot, be mindful
