Borrowing without consent is contingent on having the intent of not permanently depriving the person of that property. Its colloquially referred to as "joyriding" with an example being taking a car but intending to return it at some point. Stealing involves intent of permanent deprivation. So likely its a friend or family member's business or vehicle. Because that relationship of trust is the only real way to prove your intentions.

That's the problem with officers tho. There's officers out there, the go-getter hot rods, that are in the profession for excitement, adrenaline, epic moments. That's not who we need in police. Police desiring deadly situations because its "cool" are the type of cops that do shit to fuck it up for the rest of us. This coming from someone with an LEO degree and in the application process. I'd much rather a quiet night, no one causing trouble, watching youtube on my phone in a cruiser. Not getting into deadly confrontations like an adrenaline junky

Everything goes straight to shit, and then the panic sets in when you realize that if your car is damaged, insurance might not cover it, and if it's totaled, all of a sudden $15,000 goes down the shitter. For most people, your car is the second biggest investment in your life, only being trumped by your house. And for it to just suddenly be gone? The guy gets taken to the hospital for a sexual assault, goes to use the restroom and runs out of the hospital naked, steals a truck with a horse trailer. They chase him around Cruces, before he takes his show across state lines. He drives towards El Paso, TX, the cops are aware of his intentions so they set up a spike trap, just they weren't the most prepared as they threw it out too early and he drove around it. He drives normally to El Paso where he runs out of gas. He proceeds to car jack two couples while in El Paso and decides, since the LCPD just barely decided to notify El Paso of him possibly being there, he should go back to Las Cruces. Well the LCPD is prepared for this so they chase him from the south side of the city to the north edge of the city where they block him in and remove him from the car, but his story doesn't end there, no this bastion of all criminal knowledge escapes the police. He was found two days later a block from the police department having meth related withdrawal seizures. He was arrested in the back of an ambulance. He's quite possibly my favorite criminal.

Can we appreciate fact that police chases are more dangerous for the public than actually letting that person go.
You identify the suspect, that's good, let them go, you can find them again no problem, and right now you're endangering more people than anything, but what do I know, I'm just another pedestrian that might be hit by a car that's running away from the police.

One of my favorite composers lost his son that way. Fifteen year-old kid was crossing the street, completely legally on a crosswalk at a red light, and he was hit by a drunk driver fleeing the police at 80 mph. I don't think some people realize that bystanders and pedestrians still exist during a police chase.

I mean it appeared "safe" to anybody not used to icy roads. It looked slow but in reality even going the speed limit on icy roads can cause fatal crashes. I can't tell you how many times I accidentally ran a stop sign or almost off a highway exit ramp just from sliding on ice.

In these areas, the goal is to keep the speed low. Encouraging the chase suspect to speed up is increasing the risk of an accident involving a bystander.

like a couple seconds before the cop literally almost head on'd with someone for driving on the wrong side of the road lmao
ironically they are more of a danger then an actual a car jacker.

Man why were they all screaming and cursing at her?? This ain’t a movie, you’re not a hero, you’re just a public servant employed to protect property. That kind of tone and language at any other job, _especially_ one operating under the state government, is absolutely unacceptable.
Screaming and swearing does nothing to help the situation either. It just makes the perpetrator stressed/scared and more likely to resist or act out. Not to mention the unclear and conflicting instructions. “Hands”??? What does that mean? Clearly, 4-6 measly months of training isn’t nearly enough if this unprofessional behavior is the result.
