This is a tutorial for my tuning customers on how to read and write ROM's for tuning purposes. Hopefully this is helpful for everyone. I'll try to answer any questions as they come up.
One thing I left out of the video is that the tunes can be saved in different extensions (srf, bin, hex). Files need to be hex in order to see them in Evoscan ROM folder when flashing. If it's another extension you can just change the name of the file by removing the bin and changing to hex and it should save.

I've been trying to find a way to read my ecu and i will definitely try this when im home when i try to do it on ecuflash it shows unknown rom image (tuned before not sure with what rom or software) so maybe by just doing it through evoscan i can get it to recognize the rom image so i can tweak it on ecuflash. this video was super helpful thanks!

unknown rom ID will pop up if you don't have the xml code for that rom ID. If you google: Evo Easier way to find your Rom ID, you'll see a way to view the ROM ID that your ROM has and can search for that definition to put in your ECUFlash folder.

Will it work at all with Openport 2.0?

I tried with 2.0 and it hasn't worked for me or others. Also on EvoScan's cable guide chart it shows it doesn't work with the 2.0. Bonus though is the 1.3R is cheaper.

@@puredriveperformance Can I at least datalog with it?

@@RollingRoadEFI Can you log with the 2.0 or the 1.3R? You can do both with either. I encourage you to look at the cable selection chart so you know what you can do with whatever cable you have. I tuned maybe a couple thousand Evo X's with the 2.0 and another couple thousand Evo 8/9's with the 1.3R or 1.3U. Tuning includes flashing and logging. The differences in cables are generally for what car you're using it for. Go to evoscan.com and look at the chart.

@@puredriveperformance Yes sir, I saw that. I only have an Openport 2.0 at the moment and I have an EVO 8 tomorrow.
I also have ECUFlash. I think that will work well with the 2.0, right?
If not I will just extract the ROM and have to define it manually.

@@puredriveperformance Got it sorted between ECUFlash and Evoscan.
That was until the Tomei turbo ate itself....
