I saw Blur live in cologne/germany. Very fun night. And upon today, Alex James is one of the coolest bassists I've ever seen, even more on stage. If I like to present Blur to younger people (like my kids), I usually take a chance on Song 2 (because almost everyone knows it already), Bettlebum and definetly Coffee & TV. It didn't work as intended there, though. I have to admit 🤠
Very much a summer anthem for the UK in the mid '90s, their Parklife album was a blinder....!! In the media there was much made of their rivalry with Oasis but for me personally Oasis just weren't in the same league - they were so derivative whereas Blur were more dynamic, new and creative
@@jemxs are you kidding oasis destroyed blur and blur was out 5 years earlier oasis was playing to 125k people after there there second album blur was releasing singles on the same day as oasis to say look where huge and where anti American culture
Blur released two albums before this but this really pushed them into the limelight. A lot of people put it down to the death of Kurt Cobain which had occurred a couple of months before this was released, it sort of cheered music up again.
What a classic, this was britpop at its best, what a great band blur was. Great band like oasis and even a little bit more dynamic. React to country house and the universal, massive songs too.
This takes me back! I loved the whole Britpop scene and Blur where a really important part of it. I was a huge Oasis fan, but I also loved Blur’s less aggressive lad fun feel. I enjoy Gorillaz but I also enjoyed Graham Coxen’s solo work after Blur. Song 2 is my favourite Blur track, if you are thinking of reacting to another!🙏
Brit pop at its best, Blur over Oasis every day! Fantastic song so progressive for the time and brilliantly put together! One of my all time favourites!!
More blur ffs! They’re bloody brilliant. Here’s a few but I’m sure I’ll leave some out: This is a low Beetlebum For tomorrow Tracy Jacks Coffee & TV End of a century The universal There’s no other way Parklife Tender
Loved Blur - Love the Australia singlet. The whole clip and song is making fun of the holiday sex & drugs culture that young people in the UK would indulge in when they went to Greece or Spain or Portugal or any other beachy Med holiday spot.
Oh damon albarn honestly performs lesd singer of Blur (and still does) as well as lead singer of Gorillaz busy man honestly
Blur was big for us queer kids in the 90s. They also introduced Australians to the alternative britpop scene which invaded the top40 for years.
Yes that's great to hear, Probably the same for queer kids in America 😎 Blur introduced me to the Brit Pop sound as well.
Oh the memories...
The club remix by Pet Shop Boys is quite fun as well !
Yes the pet shop boys did a brilliant version of this song

If you ever see Gorillaz go there go to it he sings as lead singers for Gorillaz as well 😊

For sure no contest!
I'm learning so much from ya'll 😎 So there was basically a Brit Pop rivalry between Blur and Oasis ? Fascinating ... so who has more cred now?
@@reactionextraction Blur of course, Oasis who???
@@jemxs are you kidding oasis destroyed blur and blur was out 5 years earlier oasis was playing to 125k people after there there second album blur was releasing singles on the same day as oasis to say look where huge and where anti American culture
Shame you weirdos can't just appreciate both bands.
Great thanks for checking out blur! Check out beetlebum, for tomorrow, coffee and tv, or more abstract blur bugman!
Brilliant jam that is sent into orbit with that John Taylor (Duran Duran) inspired bassline!
Speaking of Duran Duran, Blur guitarist Graham Coxon was the main guitarist on Duran Duran's latest and highly acclaimed album Future Past.
@@methos3135 yeah… and it was awesome

This song is great 🤩

Ooh yes more Blur please!
Blur changed their sound quite a lot. Check out This is What It Means to Be Lonely, Coffee & TV, and of course Song 2.
This is a great album…. The best one from Blur and one that defines a whole generation…. React to Parklife. Another great song!!
Good call Daniel 😎 I love "Parklife"
Personally i think Damon Albarns best album is Demon Day or The Now Now for Gorillaz then its Parklife from this defo

Thx Helen 😎 Song 2 is a fab suggestion ✌🏼
Good morning sunshine great live
Brit pop at its best, Blur over Oasis every day! Fantastic song so progressive for the time and brilliantly put together! One of my all time favourites!!
Killer Tune 😎😎 I forgot about the term Brit Pop
This song in the Uk I’d say is still a great song to get played in a nightclub to this date
Great song! I’m going through a real Blur phase at the moment
90s and 80s are still very explotable.. I think we'll be seeing something new until 2030
This sp sound is a guitar slide down through a flanger effect🙂👍
More blur ffs!
They’re bloody brilliant.
Here’s a few but I’m sure I’ll leave some out:
This is a low
Beetlebum
For tomorrow
Tracy Jacks
Coffee & TV
End of a century
The universal
There’s no other way
Parklife
Tender
Some Fab BLUR suggestions, thx Ari 😎
@@reactionextraction charmless man too. Forgot that one
This gives me flashbacks of Pop Will Eat Itself - X , Y and Zee .. stylistically similar?
Dont forget that Damon also had another band call, the good, the bad, and the queen
blur is the best
Beetlebum by Blur is a good one
Please listen to Trimm Trabb, my favourite Blur song, and a lot closer to Gorillaz than a lot of Blur songs.
Britpop perfection
Coffee and TV, tender and under the westway are three incredible blur songs
I like Gorillaz but I love Blur...
Loved Blur - Love the Australia singlet. The whole clip and song is making fun of the holiday sex & drugs culture that young people in the UK would indulge in when they went to Greece or Spain or Portugal or any other beachy Med holiday spot.
Cool Blur insight alpha 😎 I think a singlet to you is a tank top to me right? 😁
@@reactionextraction - Yeah I guess so. We nortmally use the term Tank Top for womens clothing but they are the same thing basically.
I really like you fellas 👍
Thank You 😎 Totally appreciate that !
😎👍
Hey, Dad. Love the singlet. :-) You should listen to the Pet Shop Boys mix of this track. Way beefier!
I'll Check it out Terry, Been awhile since I've heard it 😎 Thx on the singlet or tank top as we call it 👍🏼
I love this song but it's not as deep as one might think. Damon wrote it after he accidentally walked in on an orgy whilst on holiday in Greece.
It's Brit-pop from the UK in the early 90s not alternative rock it evolved from UK indie rock & pop of the 80s
