    I joined at 29 and am currently in A school. I definitely relate to the fraternization thing. It’s frustrating to me that most of the people who are within 5 years of my age are off limits in terms of hanging out with, due to them being fleet returnees or staff. That being said, I ended up being much more social in the Navy than before due to the ease of meeting people versus post school civilian life.
    I joined the reserves so fortunately I don’t have to deal with housing outside of A school and while on a ship, if deployed, but I’d imagine I’d go crazy if I were forced to live in the barracks. The rules absolutely treat us like juveniles and the asinine inspections are hard to deal with after having lived on my own and with a spouse for so many years.
    That being said the Navy has already given me amazing opportunities. Plus if you’re looking for a career reset it’s a great option. But being lower enlisted means you get treated like an immature 18 year old, who deserves to be punished, no matter how true that is in actuality.

    Thank you. I enjoyed your videos 🤗. I’m in my 30’s and going to join Navy. That’s one of my goals to work on my retirement.
    It’s very important to work on retirement from your 20’/30’s 👍🏾 it comes back to you IF you plan correctly.

    • @HaedenBeck
      @HaedenBeck  5 месяцев назад

      The earlier we start on our retirements the better, but the last thing most 18 year olds or even 30 year olds think about is retirement. It feels like it's 500 years away or that you'll never get old. Probably the same how people never plan their will or funeral, people don't want to face the fact we get old or the fact that we'll die and what happens when we do. Best of luck, you're ahead of many people already.

    Im 20 and feeling old joining the Navy, because most of people I know are 18 and 19 joining. This video puts it into perspective and that 20 is still very young tbh. Plus having a year of college and 2-3 years of work experience already I feel more mature compared to when I was just 18. Although 18-20 we pretty much are still baby adults 😂. Good video!

    Thank you for this. It helped to calm my mind. Back when I was in high school, the military recruiters visited and I was drawn towards the Navy. I was thinking about joining after high school, but I was too scared to make that commitment at 17 years old, so I just decided to go to college instead. Over a decade later, I am now almost 29 years old and I am currently working as a civil engineer after getting my degree in civil engineering. I love my job and want to continue doing what I do now for the rest of my life, but I still had that lingering regret in the back of my mind about never joining the Navy. I am currently overweight and out of shape, but I have been making progress on my weight loss, diet, and health overall over the course of the past year. Once I get into better shape and a healthier weight, I am thinking of having a serious conversation with my local recruiter.

    I am 32, 1 child, wife, work as a library assistant (pretty good job). Not sure if I want to go reserves or active. The recruiter said if I go active, I'd lose my previous job. If go reserve I could keep it. I don't want reserves because I hear the pay isn't great and you have to do a lot of paperwork on your own. But I could keep my civilian job...idk what to do. I've been waiting to join since I was 25...any advice?
