imo they haven't done anything with the world of Pac Man since the ghostly adventures games and tv show, it really felt like they were trying to do something different and unique
great video, your editing is getting much better! despite geo's poor quality it is still sad to see it go. like you said, nothing should ever become lost media no matter how bad it is.
You shouldn’t erase your mistakes, but learn from them and keep them as a reminder, and that goes for bad media of any kind, I don’t like Geo, but wiping it away won’t fix anything.
Hey I know you! You that guy who made that rant in that CGRUndertow review of Pac Man World! ruclips.net/video/DuaNK9ziSMA/видео.html Hey, I know that I've been saying this a lot for the past few years, but I think the reason Derek’s review was like that was probably because it took the (American) Super Mario Bros 2 approach to making a “new” game for a popular franchise! You remember Derek’s review of Super Mario Bros 2, right? If not, here's what I'm talking about! ruclips.net/video/qvQPXHP8U5g/видео.html So what do you think about all this?
yeah that comment was really dumb though i will stand by the point that negatively reviewing a pac-man game because it's not a maze game like the arcade ones is a really reductive way to look at the series. pac-man has been experimental ever since the arcade days. the review was bad, but it's not something i should've gotten THAT mad about lmao
I feel like it could've worked if they changed some of the rules for how a pac maze works. Maybe instead of going through warps, the maze just goes on and on, like the roads they're based on? And instead of needing to collect everything, you just need to collect a certain amount, that way, dead ends aren't an issue.
I think the results theme is actually very similar to Maple Treeway from Mario Kart Wii, like that’s what I picked up when you played the short sample. Perhaps that’s the nostalgic feeling you’re noticing.
I'm surprised that it's been 41 years, and there is still no easily accessible, pick-up and make Pac-Man maze creator. World's Biggest? Facebook. Maker? In Canada. Live Studio? Twitch and Amazon. So many unique mazes made by the officials, just let the public have a simple way to just make their own damn things for once.
the only thing I disliked from this game was that I needed to wait like 1 or 2 minutes to play the game when it was released and the movement and teleporters
Pac man is now what I consider a "statue franchise" which is basically when a once beloved media franchise is no longer producing substantial content and is mearly paraded around by the license owners for mobile games and expensive or generic merchandise such as statues, clothing, and crappy redemption machines that heavily targets the nostalgia of a specific section of the fanbase mainly to the detriment of other fans. There are several franchises that fit the bill (mega man, metal gear, spyro) but pac man fits the bill by far the most where gaming is concerned and as someone who adored the entire world series as a kid it really fucking sucks. They proved to me early on that they could and should be doing so much more but eventually they just gave up because in one day gone the next mobile garbage is more profitable.
To be Frank, the dead ends problem WAS first in Super, but at least there, the super pellet overpowered the entire game anyway, so you’re not very likely to run into this issue too often.
I’ll admit, I thought the game was entertaining at points but overall the game just got boring after a few minutes of playing and I stopped playing after that. It’s just sat on my home screen until I decided to delete it because there was no reason of keeping it there if I wasn’t gonna play it. They should also update PAC-MAN 256 on mobile at some point (don’t expect them to do that though since the game hasn’t been updated in five years).
They should update Pac-Man 256 because on Android has black bars on wide screen phones and hidden achievements (which aren't even earnable). The only port that doesn't have any bugs are the desktop and console versions.
Glad to see you back man and with great production as well. I think you took a good direction with this review and had great reasons. As for Geo itself, it feels like another cash grab just to give Bandi Namco shills another reason to say “Pac-Man is not dead” while jizzing on a Pac-Man figure. The fact Live Studio also didn’t release shows that Bamco doesn’t know what there doing anymore, I see Party Royal and Mega Tunnel Battle suffering the same fate once Apple and Google stop giving those games life support. I just want Bamco to make a Pac-Man game that is not a cheap novelty honestly. It’s not hard to do but I guess even the bare minimum is too hard for Bamco
I remember playing this once and uninstalling it afterwards. Not only because of the flaws you mentioned, but also because it was very, very buggy and had unresponsive controls. I wish Bamco did something else with Pac-Man besides making "a new twist" to the original maze game.

Very true. Super is an interesting case when it comes to dead ends
@@thenumenfrompacland9491 yeah as much I prefer it over the original and Ms., that is a bad design oversight that I must fairly call out.
