- In this video I go over 7 things that really helped me when I memorized the Quran. How I executed my own journey becoming a Hafiz. Still working on my storytelling skills (I was homeschooled 🥲) but Alhumdulilah, I really enjoyed making this video. It’s simple, beneficial and most important… easy to edit. Life is all about inspiring others to be the best they can and letting others see their potential. And Btw don’t forget about the giveaway mentioned at the end :)

Things he did while memorizing summarized:
1. Journaling your Quran journey
2. Working on your voice (practice beautifying your recitation while reading Quran)
3. Diversify your revisions (revise what you’ve learned of the Quran and practice it multiple times spread over a short period of time )
4. Have a Quran buddy (someone to motivate and help you when needed)
5. Perfect your pronunciation (that’s very important!!!)
6. Listen to your teacher (take their advice and apply them while practicing)
7. Enjoy your journey (enjoy learning, memorizing and the beauty of the Quran)

Iv'e started learning the quran at a young age I stopped at surah mulk but then once I moved from my hometown I forgot lmost everything ecxept the smaller surah. When covid hit I decided to go on this journey of self discovery and I found myself falling in love with the deen. A tragic event happened that made me realise how powerless we are in this dunya and how nothing is promised. Alhamdulillah it's been almost a year now I am wearing the hijab, I picked up the quran and thought myself all those surahs I've forgotten and have been memorising a lot of new surahs. I've thought myself to have discipline and sabr through everything as I am the one teaching myself my parents arent aware that I am on a hifz journey but inchallah all the frustration, the tears the anxiety it will all be worth it once I finish. I am so proud of myself for how consistent iv'e been for allah always being there for me and knowing that he's supporting me through everything. Everyday Im a step closer to my goal and I cant wait for th day where I say I made it. OH MAN the possibilities. If there is one advice I have for someone out there it's that if you're on a hifz journey while memorising the ayats memorize the translation it helps so much and you will eventually find yourself picking up some arabic and that will be very helpful when reciting the surah's and it helps you connect with the quran on a deeper level. I wasn't sure who this guy until I saw some of his videos and I remembered. I knew he was Muslim from one of his videos but didn't know he cared so much about his religion. The fact that he blew up with a big following and decided to make his videos about Islam and prioritize his deen is the reason why I always love this guy because this is something that will actually benefit him in this life and in the akhira. Salam y'all! I literally just woke up, and saw the notification for his premiere, and people when I tell you it made my day at the spot. I mean it. Had a rough night, but Yusuf's new video be like "Nuh uh. We finna make your day better as soon as you wake up." Anyways, tysm for everything you've done Yusuf. Wow, this was spot on, honestly. And I'm so glad and surprised over Yusuf's impact amongst the community. It's crazy, we used to study in the same school in NYC (His Hifdh journey was from 2013-2017 while mine was 2015-2020). We weren't really close like that but we had some of the same friends. I found this at the perfect timing. I restarted memorizing the ajzaa that I already memorized before because I forgot them.

Assalamualikum Yusuf! Pretty late but alhamdulillah i was able to watch your video and really learned from it. Inshallah I am on the journey of memorizing the qur'an despite the fact that I am not really in a program or have a teacher (I know the mahkraj and pronunciation, alhamdulillah) But I pray that with my parents constant motivation I can finish it inshallah!!

I just wanted to watch the video before I started my hifz revision
I totally understand what he means when he says, 'you visualize how you want your next ayah to be'. When you start listening to recitations more often, you actually start visualizing the tone of the ayah that follows. I too, struggled and still do with getting my voice right. And listening to recitations has helped me learn the new ways to recite. 💯👏
