George Gama I actually really appreciate that the bassists are not blasting, but blending. I think it would be too overwhelming to overpower the soloist while he/she is working hard on that passage. It brings out the monstrosity that the low end possesses, while also giving the soloist time to shine with the 16th notes.
If it is not to much to ask, could you update the Shostakovich playlist with the most recent videos that haven't been uploaded yet to it, and create a new playlist of your several Prokofiev videos? Thank you so much in advance!
Looks more like a cut-off cue than an entrance cue. If you listen the strings cut as he cues. The motion is like the soft damping of a timpani, so maybe indicating a softer exit than an abrupt stop.
I think the cues are for the accents in the strings - I haven't seen the score, but it looks like the violins have sforzandos or accents where bychkov is giving the gestures.
Turbo Bitch Mozart cello sonatas don't exist. What does you let think that Shostakovich music has to be brutal? Because Stalin was brutal or what? Please listen to the recordings of this concerto by great cellists like Rostropovich and Helmerson.
man dont kill your instrument and maybe produce some sound instead....every note has a clear beginning AND ending wich makes it a bit robot like....not the best performance by far in my opinion
If "catch the string" was a person Capucon would be that guy
I'm so in love with this cello concerto!
Capuçon est un grand interprète !!!!
Am I the only one that thinks that 0:46 is the most bad ass section in this video besides the soloist? (I’m a double bass player)
Riley Collier too quiet to hear

lol yeah!
2 Maestros and beautiful performance ♫♪
It is in the description, but the "No.1" belongs in the title as well. Now it suggests there is only one.
@@jackgallahan9669 if you think Shostakovich no.2 gets neglected, wait until you hear about Dvorak no. 1!!!

Wonderful
MARAVILLOSO 😍😍 que lástima que no está el vídeo completo
Toca pagar para verlos completos.
2:19 he is clearly showing some wrong cues?

You don't only cue beats. Berlin probably doesn't need cues for beats. He's pointing out an accent.
Full concert?
Porque no está el video completo 😭😭😭
👌🏻
Sad gechkareba bicho? Mogsdevs vinme?
I think it's too fast❤
Poor cello, that horrific sound is an expression of pain
messer citrazzo well no shit, it's Shostakovich. Did you think this was a Mozart cello sonata?
messer citrazzo Sentiamo la tua interpretazione Messer...sentiamo. Shostakovich non è Chopin 🙄

messer citrazzo This is Schostakowich man. He played it great and for me Gautier Capuçon is now THE BEST cellist in the world.
Kejmar CZ listen to Steven Isserlis

i actually kinda like it
That sort of sound fits Shostakovich really well though. Because it is so robust and war-like.
Different isn't bad? Rostropovich is the Official Owner ™️ of this piece for me but this interpretation really brings out the heavy metal
Arrhythmic Shostakovich? Hrm...
