Great video! Unfortunately, changing banks doesn't seem to be working with Rodecaster Pro 1 :( It was what I was really looking for since RCP1 does not have physical buttons to switch between banks, pitty... Also, for RCP1 users, the numbering of the sound pads is from left to right top to bottom, meaning that in the video the sound pad number 5 for RCP2 users, is number 2 for RCP1 users.

TY for the video! I miss the Sampler function of the GoXLR, if only Rode had been able to take that function of pressing the actual button to record and immediately being able to play it back, you could record much more spontaneous "soundboard" sounds than is possible now. Is this possible with the Streamdeck + RCP2?

Thanks for the comment. I think you could achieve this with a multi action button on the Streamdeck. First action would be to start recording, second action would be to play the sound pad. I haven’t tried it but I think it would work. All from a single press of a button!

For instance, could the icon turn light red when the mic is muted, and revert to a grey-red color when it's not? I've implemented a similar feature for my smart home devices, allowing me to easily see whether a device is on or off directly from the Stream Deck. It would be fantastic to have the same functionality for the Rodecaster, such as showing the mic status or indicating which sound pad is currently playing.

I was so excited last week when I got this setup, after buying your PDF. But since Friday, none of my buttons are doing anything on the Rodecaster Pro 2. No commands are working anymore. I even double checked it against the PDF, and everything is still setup correctly. The MIDI plug-in appears to have been updated on 2/27/24 (last Tuesday). Maybe the update broke something?
If I change the "On" value from "127" to "1", I get feedback on the Stream Deck's button when I press the corresponding button on the Rodecaster itself. In other words, the Stream Deck button I create to mute a microphone will flash states when I press the hardware Mute button on the RCP2. So, I know they are communicating. But no matter what else I change or try, the Stream Deck will not command anything on the RCP2 I had setup from last week. It's like the commands aren't being sent to the RCP2 correctly (or at all).
    Anyone else getting this?

On this video, the "On" command is "127", but noticed in your newest video, you recommended using "1". If I leave them sending "127"... I see nothing at all happening. If I change them to "1", I at least see feedback on the Stream Deck when I press a physical button on the RCP2... but no commands output from the Stream Deck change anything on the RCP2. The "button pressed" feedback only occurs on the "Mute" commands.
I did not make any changes before the problem occurred several days ago. I've only updated the "On" commands today trying to troubleshoot. But, at least I know there is some communication from the RCP2 to the Stream Deck. The RCP2 is either not receiving the command from the Stream Deck, or the command is flawed somehow.
I've unplugged and restarted the computer, RCP2, Stream Deck, etc. I've even changed cables between all of them.

Hi. I have tested with a clean setup using the latest MIDI driver (3.8.1) and RCP2 firmware 1.3.4. I created a MUTE button for channel 1 using the settings in the PDF and it works for me with no issue. For reference, I only changed the MIDI value from 127 to 1 for the REC multi action as this is a special case. For the rest, you can leave it as default. Make sure you have the RCP2 outputs selected in the configuration and that your RCP 2 is configured for MIDI. Here is a screenshot of the MUTE settings used. drive.google.com/file/d/1MNi3g37m0ys43Yi5r2RRCCtbji_hERac/view?usp=sharing

@@NeilFarrimond Thank you so much for taking the time to help me troubleshoot this. After HOURS of changes and testing, I finally was able to get it working again. I did go through and change all the "127" settings to "1". That did NOT fix the issue, but it shows feedback on the Stream Deck when a button is pressed on the RCP2... a minor detail, but I like the visual of seeing it communicate.
The issue was apparently in the RCP2, where it was sending MIDI commands but not receiving them. I did a full reboot of every device simultaneously. Meaning not just powering down, but killing all incoming power, waiting a minute, then plugging it all back in, starting with the computer FIRST. When doing so, the RCP2 got stuck in a boot/reboot loop. No idea why. But I again unplugged it and powered it back on again. Then it worked flawlessly.
Can't thank you enough for your help on this. It's apparently such an obscure setup, that it's hard to find the information to troubleshoot it!
I think I'll just make completely unplugging the RCP2 after each recording part of my process. That way it's a clean boot up for everything each time.
I have downloaded both your PDF instruction sheet... which is much more helpful and straightforward than what I found from Rode, since it's specific to the Stream Deck. Your videos are awesome. I also picked up your Icon Pack since I just setup your new "Record" multi-action also. It's works flawlessly now as well. Very cool.

Ecamm will only record whatever you have being sourced from the RCP2 as a single track, so multitrack recording in Ecamm is not supported. regarding exporting the files from the RCP2 to the cloud, this would still have to be done manually as far as I know.

Neil, have you figured out how to create a mic mute button where the icon status can be displayed? My RCPII is out of my line of site when on calls, and I'd love to have a quick glance at the Stream Deck to see the mic status (muted or unmuted) - I can't seem to get the current status to reflect to the streamdeck :(

I did this for the record button, so I will check to see if I can get this to work for the mute. You will have to use some form of mutil action button in the stream deck to get this functioning, as far as I know.

This information is brilliant and it does work... providing you have your Rodecaster Pro II connected to the computer using USB1. For some reason the MIDI app (and indeed Rode Central) doesn't detect a connected device if its connected with USB 2.
Here's the problem for me, I run my conference calls and live streams from a second computer, and that needs the USB Chat function that's only available on USB1. I can't connect my stream deck to that second computer because that is being used to control the software I do demonstrations of.
If Rode could make the Procaster II visible in Rode central with USB 2, that would I'm sure solve the problem. So slightly frustrating, but I still appreciate the information you've shared here and talking the time to do it. Thank you.

@@NeilFarrimond Actually Neil, I'm an idiot. I totally forgot that you can change USB2 to Mix minus on the Rodecaster, which means I can just swap the connections and everything works.
Some additional information... while you can't add a 'Hold' function as parrt of a Multi action button on the stream deck, you can a Toggle function. But to get it to work you need to add the toggle function twice... then it works exactly like hold.
The only remaining issue that I can't figure out how two get the mic input to a known state on the Rodecaster using the stream deck... you know so that when the action is part of a macro isn not doing the opposite of what I intended.
Anyway, thanks again for this video... I've set up multiple macros in Companion running along side multi action buttons... so my livestream launch and end sequences are all now properly automated.

@@NeilFarrimond yes. As the Streamdeck button just acts as a toggle switch, its not taking appropriate action based on a known state. i.e... If my mic is currently muted, I don't want my macro that includes a 'mute mic' action to actually unmute it instead.

Hey I found a solution which probably stems from me not having a super good familiarity with how the midi functions output their operations but if I have 2 toggles in each part of the switch it will turn on and off as desired. So now I press the first part of the toggle, it turns on a voice modifier and pressing it again to run the second part of the switch now turns it off. This is just the default toggle with nothing adjusted besides the operation(35) and correct channel picked. I apologize for my lack of understanding on this.
