    I've bought mine at Costco last week of April, it was pricey ($449.99USD + sales tax ) and have been very satisfied with the Orbi system. There used to be some dead spots in the living room and the dining room with the Pace 5268ac router. The Orbi has not only eliminated those dead spots, but now I get wifi in the front yard, front patio, backyard, back patio, and the side yard with strong wifi signal. In fact the signal is so strong, I get wifi from across the street. I love the fact that the Orbi is about uses a single SSID across the 3 units, so I don't have to switch with networks, it handles that automatically. And I get the blazing fast speeds on the satellites as I would on the main router, so I'm very happy with the Orbi system.

    I have the Orbi setup where the second satellite is a plug in and I pay for 100/100 up and down. Previously I was using the Apple Airport Express as an access point and coverage was horrible because it was fighting with the signal from the WiFi router Verizon supplied us with when we signed up for service. Since I switched to the Orbi mesh network I consistently get over 100/100 WiFi signal and that’s just crazy! I have to say that living in a basement sucks but the Orbi made it better because now a satellite is downstairs.

    What it is missing is the 2 USB 3 ports for USB drives and the ext sata port that my Netgear R7500 has. those are nice if you the country where the internet is slow. I use my PC to download content and then copy that to the Readyshare drives and access from my wireless devices. Other than that the Obi looks like an ideal product.

    My mom won a Orbo 3 pack micro today, can't wait till it arrives (It's pretty weird actually, my mom gets a 300 dollar device FOR FREE!)

    Funny timing on this video: My wife and I are looking into our own router for use in the future (we use the one provided by our ISP). We get around 120-125 download and upload speeds on everything except my PC, which uses a terrible little dongle (temporary solution), and we'd like to maintain those speeds. Have you checked out any of Google's wifi products? I wonder how they'd compare to something like this.

      +vxthunder I haven't, although I'd like to. Heard Googles solution is pretty simple, not sure if it actually has advanced options? Don't know enough to say on that I'm afraid.

    Could you replace the Virgin Media router with this setup? Since the internet is supplied through cable I'm doubting it.

      +AbsolutGB no but you can put it in modem mode and basically ignore it

    How reliable is the orbi rbk50 now seeing lots of comments of stability issues and so on

    • @TechteamGB
      @TechteamGB  6 лет назад

      I haven't really any issues. Firmware updates are pretty regular and it really doesn't break or fault much. I am only using it in access point mode though, not as a full router.

    Does this work without modem?

    • @dezmaas
      @dezmaas 6 лет назад

      No it's a router system. You connect it to your modem.

    When you utilize your existing Router and treat these APs only, does it Double NAT yourself, or can you actually set the Orbi Router router to be a Wireless AP without the Router Features? I ask because my Asus Router has custom firmware and i need to continue this, but i really could use some better wireless coverage throughout our 3 story home.

    • @TechteamGB
      @TechteamGB  7 лет назад

      I'm using it with an Asus Router in this way - it's actually technically left in 'router' mode, but works as a WAP.

    • @briankfree
      @briankfree 7 лет назад

      TechteamGB yeah but the double nat part worries me. Do your wireless clients/devices get an IP address in the same IP range as your Asus router say if you hard wired in? So for example Asus hands out 192.168.1.x but the Orbi wireless devices are handing out say 192.168.2.x.

    • @TechteamGB
      @TechteamGB  7 лет назад

      +Brian Free if you set it to WAP mode then ț get the same address range

    • @briankfree
      @briankfree 7 лет назад

      TechteamGB thanks that's actually what I was looking for...a mesh wifi that allows for this. All the other mainstream ones I don't seem to be able to tell whether they support this. Most only allow you to use it in router mode only.

    This Netgear Orbi mesh system is trash, yes it has range I'll give it that much, but extremely inconsistent. Go with something else, one big issue for me is the fact that everything connects to the router and not what devices are closest to the router or satellite. Even the app is terrible I'll save you the trouble, but don't say I didn't warn you. I wish I never bought this system and could return it.

    Only 3 ethernet ports.. lame. Most routers have at least 4.
