Thank you for being considerate of the possibility that she could be contagious and protecting other animals' health! Everyone should be so responsible.
Oh no, i knew an Archer sit-in/sit-down protest was gonna happen when he tried to go in when the lady brought you the bag. Its not just that they want the treats, they (especially Archer) want....no HAVE to go INTO the treat store(s)
Research "reverse sneezing." My dog has this and it sounds like she's having an asthma attack. But it's basically like a human with a chronic sinus condition. Sounds awful but isn't really much to be done or worried about. It looks and sounds like what's happening to Leia. Not to try to armchair diagnose, but I hadn't heard of it until someone at the dog park saw Noodle doing it and mentioned it to me -- and then I had something specific to talk to the vet about and, in lieu of any other diagnosis, that's what we landed on. And its worse/better seasonally, just like allergies.
I'm confident in my guess: He put down the camera to get out the treats. Bribe was eventually successful. Or they might still be there. I donno. Hard to tell with huskies sometimes ...
Poor Leia! My beagle baby had a similar cough near the last 4 of her life (she lived to be 19), and we never figured out what caused it. It started out nowhere and the vet described it as her lungs were spasming. She had to go on doggo pain meds just to get her lungs relaxed enough to breathe.
We actually had the same issue- found out it was tracheal collapse. If you have a dog that pulls a lot on the leash, when they’re older it can lead to stuff like that. It’s really difficult to capture on x-rays and really can only be captured on moving x-rays or by pure luck since the trachea can sometimes return to normal since it waxes and wanes as the dog breathes. Happens to a lot of dogs when they get older apparently ):
I hope Leia gets well soon. My lil girl had breathing issues that stemmed from her smooshed nose breed momma. (Collapsing trachea) One thing that helped was a harness, instead of a collar, because everytime she pulled, the collar would start the irritation, that then turned into her inwards sneezing coughing thing. I hope you find solutions that work for you guys. It isn't easy worrying about our fuzzy friends.
Hope she feels better soon. I know my pup when I had him had kennel cough and yeah, he didn't care. It was walk time and time to play. They really are so special and such a part of our families. Glad to see her out and about and hope again she starts feeling better soon
When they wanted to go to the treat store, is it me or did it look like Leia was whispering to Archer 'Keep protesting...you are doing good...this is the only way Dad is taking us to the treat store' 😂😂😂😅😅😅🤣🤣🤣
It’s like not going into the store during covid. Ordering broccoli was like doing a drug deal. 😂 I hope Leia gets rid of her cough soon. Must be rough on you. ❤
***Read this in Dragon Ball Z's narrator voice*** Will Archer realize the treats are in the bag, thus allowing his family to continue their walk... or will he keep his family hostage in front of the treat store UNTIL his meticulous OCD routine is followed??? Find out next time on SIBERIAN DERPSKIES!!!
My dog coughed and hacked because he had a collapsed trachea and heart disease. I hope that it is something temporary for Leia. Keeping my dog calm was a task. I had to reassure other dog owners that it wasn’t contagious.
Our small poodle has the same cough. Usually just when he gets overexcited/ overexerst himself. Not really a cough kinda more like throwing up without anything coming up. Does he care? No.
Could Leia's coughs be related to some damage from how jumpy she is when on a leash? One of these days she could be jumping, like you do as a husky, and damage her throat / neck somehow.
Regarding Leia's cough - my dog also had a chronic cough (bronchitis) that turned out to be from HELLA environmental allergies, which we found via blood allergy test. He mostly had coughing fits when he exercised or was excited, but also sometimes randomly, and he usually had to take a breather for a bit after. While allergy pills (Zyrtec) did help some, I chose to do allergy hposensitization injections and, although it takes months to start improving, was absolutely worthwhile for the huge impact on QoL, and he no longer coughs at all today. Since I think Leia's still pretty young(?), her allergies might just be starting to surface only now, but allergies do tend to worsen as dogs age. It was $100s of dollars and took ~1 year to fully resolve, but putting him on a bronchodilator* during that time helped too. Ask your vet about it since only they can administer the test. *Warning: the bronchodilator also made him INSANELY rambunctious for the 1st month on it
So... 😔 A bit depressed today because both two of my favourite YT Huskies, Phil & Sherpa, passed away, and I received a month late but then thanks the Algorithm that I see you channel with happy voice.
@ashrowan2143 I've just heard of cases where over time pulling has damaged dogs throats. I think he uses a harness that doesn't do that but she's too fluffy to tell.
Did you check, if she could have some kind of allergic reaction because of Archer? Don't get me wrong, but in your videos it seems, it's getting worse if they are close together. Just a thought...
Ok hear me out… next time you go on a walk just randomly sit down somewhere out the way and just not move no matter how much your children want to keep going… uno reverse them.
I don't want to be "that person" but it seems like they are leading you , and well have you ever tried to teach them to heel? And other things? Or is it a husky thing? I'm not trying to be " that person"

Archer and sitting down. Name a more iconic duo.

That's a good store you've got there. Good people.
Good customer, too. Forget the last four years-how many parents send their kids to school when they're hacking up a lung?

"Treats and socialising, not treats or socialising!" Archer, probably.
Archer, probably: "You and Leia can wait out here, and I'll go in and get alllllllll the treats :)"
I thought you were kidding when you said you'd call the store and get them to buy the treats for you. That's some great service!
Oh no, i knew an Archer sit-in/sit-down protest was gonna happen when he tried to go in when the lady brought you the bag.

Just start giving Leia treats. That'll break him.

Betcha that's exactly what happened; he just had to put the camera down to do it.
