I love this design actually! It's kinda Scottish so maybe that's why I like it, I come from the land of highland cows and tartan (I have never had haggis because it's sheep organs sooo)

I think what's missing from making it plaid is the transparency, maybe? I mean, I totally LOVE THIS MANI, I love the colors and to me it is more of a color block kind of thing than a plaid. That's not a bad thing! Just your old plaids have the transparent/layering effect. I'm super in love with all of your nail art :D (and the holos and glitters make me diieeeeeeeee)

Whenever I paint my nails, they dry, and then 2-3 days after they start to come up at the edges, or the tip starts to wear off...I DONT KNOW WHY. I mean maybe its because I use kinda shittyish polish (Sally hansen) because I dont have a job and I dont want to blow money on nail polish. I use a basecoat, topcoat, let everything dry, AND IT ALWAYS HAPPENS. I'm tired of crying.

I'd love to know how you get all those layers of polish to dry. I mean normally when I layer on so much polish it never dries and just picks up imprints of finger prints or clothing textures when I sleep or whatever. It's so frustrating!

I like watching you do your nails cause in my job these nails would never last.
So what nail top coat do you recommend as a replacement for seche vite? I want a gel finish and quick dry. But SV tends to shrink the polish slightly and peels off the entire polish after a couple days. And it gets super thick really fast - even with my seche restore. Which ones do you use?
I usually use HK girl by glisten and glow for quick dry but recently discovered SuperChic lacquer marvel top coat and it's amazing !!

Okay I have a problem, I've been growing my nails for about a year now and I've had no problem but I'm also a black belt in taekwondo and I often scratch people ( we're not allowed to do that) and for the first time I've broke my nail. Should I....
A: not grow my nails
B: keep them at a really long length
C: just keep them at a little bit longer then my nail
I do karate, and my teacher always tells us to keep our nails short for safety, so if you want to carry on with taekwondo, then cut your nails or wear gloves
+Lucy Ackerman As another black belt in taekwondo, I strongly encourage you to keep your nails on the shorter side. I knew my nails were too long when it became hard to make a strong fist (like, my nails would leave little crescent indents in my palms). Of course, the people you are scratching probably want you to cut your nails too. Probably max length should be 2mm, and that is pushing it.

I know it's really hard to cut your nails after forever, but I would always get I trouble for leaving scratch marks on peoples legs trying to block their kicks. Also please cut your toenails bc someone scratched my arm while trying to kick me and I got huge bump.
+Lucy Ackerman you're asking the worst person ever for advice on this (sports? what's that?) lol, but I could also suggest that whatever length you choose, make sure you're using something like a good nail oil so keep your nails nicely hydrated, so they will be more flexible and less likely to snap/break but also less like to scratch someone because they'll bend and bounce back. Omg I was about to ask the same thing, but I didn't wanna sound mean, so I went through the comments to see if someone thought the same thing
So I realize that this is a super old video and probably no one will ever see this, but Christine I think the reason you didn’t like your design as much as the old ones you showed is because of the mixture colors you chose for this design. They are all fairly similar in tone and similar in saturation (or brightness) , so there’s no tension created between the colors and it lacks some of the visual interest that the older designs you showed have. When your choosing palettes paying attention to the three components of color ( tone, saturation, and hue) and picking colors that have enough differences in those three aspects is a sure fire way to create dynamic color palettes. That being said I think this more muted color palette is beautiful and understated which is an aesthetic that I thoroughly enjoy.
