It may also be the polish batches. I pretty much only use Sinful Colors polish because it is so cheap. My bottle of black is a one coater, as is pretty much all of my sinful colors cream polishes. The only time I need at least two or three coats is when the polish itself is sheer.

Same! I love the sinful colours polish, they have some really cool colours for super cheap. I've never had a problem with any of them before, especially the black. Mines no where near as thin as hers.
It probably is either the base coat or the batch. I have way too many nail polishes and Sinful Colors has yet to fail me.
I completely agree!!!! Sinful colors black nail polish is super opaque, sometimes the only time I do a second coat is either, because I missed some spots, or just to super seal it until I can put a final clear coat. I love this cheap nail polish, it really is just as good as the more expensive ones. Girls ask me all the time what black polish I use. LOL. I'm not saying better doesn't exist, but for the price and payoff, it's an awesome deal💖💅

I think you got a bad batch of the sinful colours black, because I have the same one and it’s smooth and completely opaque in one coat.

yea that’s me with the Essie polish i had that one and it was great it dried pretty fast and i never needed 2 coats
I feel like it could also be partly due to the peel-off base coat. I've found that a lot of the big brand polishes don't do very well with unusual base coats; often leading to a watercolor-like spreading. This is just a theory though.

I found this AMAZING black nail polish by a brand called Prim+Proper! The black is called "Black Rod", and it applies full coverage in 1 coat! I almost always want to paint my nails black because of how beautiful it is >_

I actually got the OPI black onyx polish here in ye old times of corona (2020) and it looks like they changed their formula because it went on in one coat and it was a really good black polish in my opinion. (don't worry I put a holo taco on top)

the one i get is from a brand called Broadway, its $1 and its perfect in one coat. i get it from a place called dollar general but I've been using it for a long time now

I also just discovered Broadway's one coat wonder Black Out! Broadway makes a chunky holo glitter in a black jelly base called Gunmetal. I used those and topped it off with Revlon Holographic Pearls! It's holo-gasmic.
Filamentiferous Broadway polish works good for watermarbling too

For me too, I’ve bought it several times and it’s always been pretty good in one coat. Like 99%. So I think she must have gotten a bad batch because that was really sheer..
I had to pick up another bottle of it the other day to have on hand ( pun not intended).
My Sinfulcolors black on black is not sheer at all, I was surprised how that turned out!

Sometimes you have to let the polish sit for a little bit and thicken up so it can be at full opacity. It's like that for most of my Sinful Colors polishes

i think a lot of hers were probably old bottles too. she mentioned one of hers was one she'd turned into a DIY sheer black nail polish, which means she didn't buy that one new just for this video and probably didn't buy a lot of the others new for this either.

@@maesynjones3578 Yeah no joke, I literally went to Shoppers yesterday and picked up their cheapest black that was in stock. It was almost the same as the one she used in this video, even called Black Out, but it's number 629. Works perfectly, not sheer at all. Not sure if it's a batch thing or if they improved it a lot over the last 5 years but I'm happy.
I got Sally Hansen's Hard As Nails 880 for $2 and it applied 100% flawless in only one coat. But it has a new differently shaped bottle? So maybe a different formula.

I'm using Sally Hansen's black out right now and it's not sheer at all! It's actually the best black nail polish I've ever tried, only needs one coat, maybe you got a bad batch.
I completely agree! I absolutely LOVE Black Out. It's the best nail polish I think I've ever used. I dries quickly, stays on easily, and only needs one coat.

Apply a very thin coat, and it’s so saturated and pigmented, you only need a single coat. If you don’t want a matte finish, just add a shiny top coat

i think why some people think xyz drug store polish is opaque is that most drug store’s nail polish is on their shelves forever so they get thicker over time

I was supersized by how it turned out in this video (did she get a random bad batch?) because SC always paints on perfectly in 1-2 coats (I've never had to use more than one for their black) and their base coat and quick dry coats are like magic! The only problem I've ever had with SC is that their glitter polish shrinks once it dries which leaves a super thin bit at the tip of the nail exposed.

Same. I found that a lot of her swatches (opi, sally hansen xtreme wear, essie, etc) work GREAT on mine.
Wet n' Wild Black Creme is the best black polish I've tried. I can only find it in Zehrs stores though.

i was about to comment the same thing! but where I am you can find it pretty much anywhere, especially around Halloween
+Kassie May it's great for an under coat for glitter polish but not great for nail art, it gets re-softened every time you apply a layer of nail polish over it. Even if you let it dry overnight beforehand. So I have had multiple times where I dug divots in the stuff trying to place glitters.

Neo noir from H&M is like 98% opaque with one layer! I love it. You need to make a video testing H&M polishes! They have so many iridescent ones, flakies, and even holo glitter!!!

the best one coat black polish is the Sally Hansen Hard as Nails in Black Heart ..it has a great formula and you only need one coat..i use it all the time in my videos and it is $1.99..it is the only black i will ever use :o)

I don't know about other countries, but in Georgia (USA) there is a store called Five Below. It sells cheap nail polish, and the white and black polishes they sell are my staple white and black. They are called (white) "Gesso" and (black) "Dark Night". They are all opaque in one coat and the dry super fast!
