That's the thing with people who are not into nail polishes. I've also been told that the nail polishes I bought are the same but they're not. It's either just a plain colour, has shimmer or glitter or shifts colour or is a different shade but people don't get it. Unless I really like the nail polish, why would I keep buying more? 😑

For anyone curious about that Rhysand book reference: A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas. The first book is kind of reminiscent of Beauty and the Beast, but I loved the rest. My favorite series by her is Throne of Glass… there’s like 7 huge books in that series hahaha
This is so interesting! The color club one looks almost identical to holotaco one coat black with their linear Holo Taco. My partner says I’m crazy because I think that combo looks drastically different than Electrostatic, but this video validates me! 😹
That makes lots of sense. A top coat on top of a solid colour base creates a different kind of look to a polish with the holo mixed in with the colour pigments. One has all the holo on the surface, the other has some of it hidden by the colour. The colour club one seems to be so jam packed with the holo that its in effect on the surface. But that's also why it tends more to silver. You're definitely not crazy.
Color Club switched to a wide brush 1-2 years ago, and (I think) all the polishes you buy from their website come with the new brush now. Also they sell on their website wide brushes to replace the brushes in older bottles you own, and the price of the brushes was very reasonable when I bought it.
Love this concept! And kind of a spin-off, it would be interesting to compare same name polishes from different brands. Just to see how creators interpret the theme.
I think regarding holos in general, Color Club comes out on top with most colors. I have quite a few holos from that brand and would recommend them to everyone, especially for the price point. They really outshine the competition when it comes to this kind of finish. I have the ILNP black holo and I really do like it, although I do find that they are not very opaque and it does take 3 coats to get the best look, even with the darker colors. I don't have any of the other ones you swatched, mainly because once I have one kind of finish in a color, there really isn't too much reason to spend the money on different brands for the same kind of polish. But I really do like this kind of swatch and review, it really does help to see all the different brands together to pick and choose, based on cost and opacity, little differences, etc. So thank you for this one!
Agree on the ILNP. Beautiful colors but I bought 5 and when I was doing my swatch sticks I did 4 coats for the best color pay off, could have probably gotten away with 3 coats but 4 seemed to be the best for me.

It's always so interesting how the "same" product can be so different across various brands. Like... lay out all the French fries from every fast food place and you might not know where they are from but they all look very different. Basically sliced potatoes and salt but every place does them different somehow. I have often wondered how the shades of the "same" nail polish colors differ. Very fun video. Similar to your top favorites but different. Dang, that is the broken record quote for this one. I want Saturday to be my favorite day but I think it's Tuesday. The weekend and Monday are exhausting and so busy... Tuesday is the day, I can go a bit slower and reset my week that has started but is still early enough to salvage time, if needed.

My favorite day of the week is Saturday!! The first reason is because it is the start of my weekend so I can sleep in. I'm a night owl who doesn't do well with early mornings so I really appreciate being able to sleep in. Also it is the first day of my weekend so I don't need to stress about "work tomorrow". I also have a long-standing tradition of going over to my parent's house for dinner and a weekly catch up every Saturday afternoon/evening. Since I work from home (started even before the pandemic) and don't often interact with my roommate, this provides most of my human interaction for the week so I look forward to Saturdays a lot. As an introvert, this one day with my parents is just about right for my social battery. I also can never say no to a meal cooked by Mom or that I help her cook. Every so often I'll have my parents over to my place instead, but that doesn't feel as special to me haha. I also do most of my errands on Sundays so Saturdays is the one day where I really let myself just relax.
I love the comparison videos! Black linear holo is by far my favorite holo polish and this video is definitely helpful to fill the gaps in my collection.
Sundays are my favourite day! It's the one day a week I never work (I only work four days a week, but they get shifted around) and I go to church, have a good time, then come home for a nap. Sundays have always felt peaceful to me, they're quiet, and have always been about spending time with friends and family.
My favorite videos that you do are the one on one comparisons. Like the best matte top coat . It saved me so much time. I didn’t waste money I don’t have either. I love the Starrily for how dark it is and the Color Club for being the most Halo. I actually like almost all of them but those two, plus Icecream and Picture Polish caught my eye. I love these comparison reveiws, your one on white cream polishes helped me find ones that worked for me, because whites and their formulas can be really frustrating.
@@KelliMarissa Beyond is much more silvery for sure, Black Magic is closer to Holo Taco's Electrostatic, with a more dispersed holo flare and a darker base. It has really nice coverage and application! (Also, can we talk about how that's yet another black holo named Black Magic? This is getting ridiculous haha)
I rarely buy polish or paint my nails but I find comparison videos and round-ups for your faves of a particular color to be really interesting and enjoyable. During pandemic furlough in 2020, when my nails were better, I bought new bottles of black, and white, based on your recommendations, because it was frustrating not to have those basics during the rare times I wanted to paint my nails

So many stunning polishes😍 a friend of mine gifted me color club black magic and it's such a gorgeous black holo! Also if you were to go over you nails with a flashlight after painting them we would get the most blinding stunning holo😍

I’ve been putting off buying another black linear holo for years because I have Beyond and it looks so grey (and in some lights a greenish tint). I just assumed they’d all look like that so I’ve been using black topped with Starrily Eclipse or CG Fairy Dust (or both) and making due. This comparison really helped a ton! Now I can pull the trigger and get a REAL black holo lol. Thank you so much 🖤 P.s. would love to see a red holo comparison - that’s another I’ve had a tough time with. I have about 20 red holos…they’re all a shade of burgundy or maroon lol. Can’t find the perfect dark red to true red holo
I'll have to give halo taco another try, I wasn't impressed a couple years ago with the formula I felt it took forever to dry but I heard she tweeked the formula, halo taco and ILNP both have great customer service
I would have loved to see for this set of polishes (and really any comparison of linear holos) each of them in various kinds of lighting. I know you were showing us all of these in that kind of camera flash lighting that makes holo really shine so I get that. I’m always interested in how my polish will look throughout the day though so it would be cool to see how they look in say the dark with flash vs indoor indirect vs outdoor light, etc.

This was fun to watch. I have the Color Club black holo polish and it is SO holo, that in the sun you pretty much can't see that it's black, only the rainbow holo flash. I do find that it leans sort of greenish which I think has to do with yellow and green being some of the brighter flash in the holo pigment, so those are the colours you see first. I'm curious to try some of the others because I'd also like to have something that reads a little more black. All the Color Club holos are incredibly opaque and silky smooth to apply, I love them.

Thanks for doing the side-by-side comparisons; it really does make it more obvious the differences that are visible, and yes that's enough to justify having multiple black holos lol. 😆💿🖤 I feel like one day someone is going to find a new way to formulate a black holo (whether it be a pigment type, technology, technique etc) that will be the ultimate black holo. Something as obvious as the Color Club "Beyond" shade, but the base is a completely true, saturated black.
I love this video I thought the variety was really great and now I actually have the Cityscape from ILNP I purchased and have really been enjoying... something to compare it to. I was researching and realized even before the video the difference between the grey and blue underlying in the different holo polishes. Thanks Kelli this was neat to see.

Lol When I got my bottle of Beyond I actually thought I had gotten a bad bottle! I loved stamping with it over lighter shades! This was back when you had trial and error to find which stamp would work with your plates and polish! No see through stampers either! 😒 I just try to get as much info as possible on here before dumping a bunch of money into something! They are very worth it, no matter what I did no nail polish has made it is 2-3 days without chipping, Mooncat survived a solid week before I took it off

I feel like I'd definetely get Color CLubs holo, because I have been wanting a nice gray linear holo for a good while, and I don't think I could count that one as being black with how gray it'd look beside Electrostatic and Alter Ego which I already own. Funny how I own the coolest tone and warmest toned ones on the list, it makes me feel SO more justified having them both! 😂

I only have I Scream Nails Holo Be Thy Name (swatched only) and HT Electrostatic, and I have to say... I Scream Nails is the best true black linear holo out of all of these. Placing the swatch side by side with electrostatic, it makes electrostatic look purple, which was shocking! I think if you're looking for that true "line" down your nail (which is my preference), I Scream is the way to go. I am 100% getting the Picture Polish one- it's stunning.
Your intro made me think, it would be cool if you did like a "glossary" video going over the different finishes of polishes/ingredients and showing examples! Ex, linear holo, scattered holo, flakies, foils, etc. You could even do it as a "favorites" vid by picking your faves as the examples

For ILNP I just do one coat of regular black nail polish then one coat of the holo and it looks great!

I love the Starrily for how dark it is and the Color Club for being the most Halo. I actually like almost all of them but those two, plus Icecream and Picture Polish caught my eye.
I love these comparison reveiws, your one on white cream polishes helped me find ones that worked for me, because whites and their formulas can be really frustrating.

@@KelliMarissa Beyond is much more silvery for sure, Black Magic is closer to Holo Taco's Electrostatic, with a more dispersed holo flare and a darker base. It has really nice coverage and application! (Also, can we talk about how that's yet another black holo named Black Magic? This is getting ridiculous haha)
I rarely buy polish or paint my nails but I find comparison videos and round-ups for your faves of a particular color to be really interesting and enjoyable. During pandemic furlough in 2020, when my nails were better, I bought new bottles of black, and white, based on your recommendations, because it was frustrating not to have those basics during the rare times I wanted to paint my nails

So many stunning polishes😍 a friend of mine gifted me color club black magic and it's such a gorgeous black holo! Also if you were to go over you nails with a flashlight after painting them we would get the most blinding stunning holo😍

I’ve been putting off buying another black linear holo for years because I have Beyond and it looks so grey (and in some lights a greenish tint). I just assumed they’d all look like that so I’ve been using black topped with Starrily Eclipse or CG Fairy Dust (or both) and making due. This comparison really helped a ton! Now I can pull the trigger and get a REAL black holo lol. Thank you so much 🖤
P.s. would love to see a red holo comparison - that’s another I’ve had a tough time with. I have about 20 red holos…they’re all a shade of burgundy or maroon lol. Can’t find the perfect dark red to true red holo

I'll have to give halo taco another try, I wasn't impressed a couple years ago with the formula I felt it took forever to dry but I heard she tweeked the formula, halo taco and ILNP both have great customer service
I got a ton of HT for Christmas and it dries insanely fast. Like- it's shocking.
All HT dries quickly. ...... The key is working quickly, and using thin coats......

Love comparison videos! White and yellow polishes...both can be tricky for me, so I'd love to see a comparison of those colors, separately, of course.
I would have loved to see for this set of polishes (and really any comparison of linear holos) each of them in various kinds of lighting. I know you were showing us all of these in that kind of camera flash lighting that makes holo really shine so I get that. I’m always interested in how my polish will look throughout the day though so it would be cool to see how they look in say the dark with flash vs indoor indirect vs outdoor light, etc.

This was fun to watch. I have the Color Club black holo polish and it is SO holo, that in the sun you pretty much can't see that it's black, only the rainbow holo flash. I do find that it leans sort of greenish which I think has to do with yellow and green being some of the brighter flash in the holo pigment, so those are the colours you see first. I'm curious to try some of the others because I'd also like to have something that reads a little more black. All the Color Club holos are incredibly opaque and silky smooth to apply, I love them.

Thanks for doing the side-by-side comparisons; it really does make it more obvious the differences that are visible, and yes that's enough to justify having multiple black holos lol. 😆💿🖤 I feel like one day someone is going to find a new way to formulate a black holo (whether it be a pigment type, technology, technique etc) that will be the ultimate black holo. Something as obvious as the Color Club "Beyond" shade, but the base is a completely true, saturated black.
I love this video I thought the variety was really great and now I actually have the Cityscape from ILNP I purchased and have really been enjoying... something to compare it to. I was researching and realized even before the video the difference between the grey and blue underlying in the different holo polishes. Thanks Kelli this was neat to see.

Loved this video and to actually see how different they all were side by side ❣️ I keep looking for Color Club to Make a real black holo! Lol When I got my bottle of Beyond I actually thought I had gotten a bad bottle! I loved stamping with it over lighter shades! This was back when you had trial and error to find which stamp would work with your plates and polish! No see through stampers either! 😒 I just try to get as much info as possible on here before dumping a bunch of money into something! Really appreciate your time and dedication to showing us all these beautiful colors, textures and kinds of nail polish! 💅🏻😁 Keep up the great work ❣️

I would love a review of Mooncat too! They seem very unique but they are pricey so the quality has to be there
They are very worth it, no matter what I did no nail polish has made it is 2-3 days without chipping, Mooncat survived a solid week before I took it off

I feel like I'd definetely get Color CLubs holo, because I have been wanting a nice gray linear holo for a good while, and I don't think I could count that one as being black with how gray it'd look beside Electrostatic and Alter Ego which I already own. Funny how I own the coolest tone and warmest toned ones on the list, it makes me feel SO more justified having them both! 😂

I love electrostatic's formula but I'm terrible with small brushes. This comparison was amazing. I super appreciate the price per ml and the side by side at the end. I'll be checking out KBShimmer and Starrily's black holos thanks to you!
I belive that on the HoloTaco website you can order replacement brushes that are bigger/wider (I think it is a 6 pac for around $10 USD).

I like the look of the cirque colors one. I think the slight warmth is what does it.
I agree, that warm undertone really makes it very wearable!
I only have I Scream Nails Holo Be Thy Name (swatched only) and HT Electrostatic, and I have to say... I Scream Nails is the best true black linear holo out of all of these. Placing the swatch side by side with electrostatic, it makes electrostatic look purple, which was shocking! I think if you're looking for that true "line" down your nail (which is my preference), I Scream is the way to go. I am 100% getting the Picture Polish one- it's stunning.
I was shocked how easy the ice cream cone cap was to use, it might be my favorite brush!

Your intro made me think, it would be cool if you did like a "glossary" video going over the different finishes of polishes/ingredients and showing examples! Ex, linear holo, scattered holo, flakies, foils, etc. You could even do it as a "favorites" vid by picking your faves as the examples
