It seems he once read by first sight "feux follets" in the presence of the author and that Liszt said that only the two of them could be able to do such a thing. Bizet later said that he didn't care much for the piano!!!!
Alkan must be so furiously confounded if he hears such a thing about Bizet's lack of affection for the piano. And then there's Thalberg who'd quickly prove Liszt wrong that only he and Bizet could sight read Feux Follets. Sometimes eccentric musicians make loud statements without a care about the world around them.
According to wikipedia he also transcribed Saint Saens' second concerto for solo piano and had skills that even impressed Liszt. Would be interesting to hear more of his solo music. You should upload some of nietzche’s music at some point.
Yeah, highly recommend Petrov's recording of that arrangement. It's amazingly good. A lot of Bizet's earlier solo stuff was also heavily inspired by Liszt too!

At Var. 7 I had to claim: "That crazy, son of a bitch, look what he did!". Impressively clever and naive at the same time. I'd loved to perform it someday.
I was really impressed by this. But then I went back to listen to Beethoven's theme and variations in C minor and... Beethoven was just on another level.
@@TobyHonest420 They're certainly not Beethoven's best work, but the craftsmanship that goes into each phrase makes Bizet's variations sound washed out by comparison. To me, it sounds like Bizet's painting in pastel colours. Beethoven thinking they're garbage isn't saying much.
What an incredibly stupid comment. “I like this other piece more, so this piece is trash.” And you picked a minor woke by Beethoven that is not close to being among his best variations for piano.
People: nooooooooo you can't play a chromatic scale and tell it's a theme
Bizet: hahaha bam bam bam bam bam

comecei compor só música atonal agora.
vc sempre com um bom "joke"

A channel called "Soupymold" has uploaded some of Nietzsche's music (maybe you're already aware) -- /watch?v=p2pQ_xfkmQE
Indeed, Nietzsche's Lieder deserves more attention. Though, I'd say his piano writing is mediocre at best.

Muy interesante!!!Como estudiaban los verdaderos genios !!!
Plot twist: The pieces were pitch shifted chromatically to avoid copyright strikes just in case.
(no offence).

The C minor variations aren't that good, Beethoven himself thought they were garbage.

These variations are better. Listen more.
