I love this lady. She reminds me of my own Grandma who passed away on Mother's Day of 2021 at the age of 93. Miss her but it's nice to watch this Grandma. ❤
I got the same vibe I was just thinking like man imagine if my grandma was still around to see my kids I wonder what she would say or even her spending time with them like she is with hers
I loved your recipe. It was nice to see the whole process without using any fancy tools. Best way to learn that way. Would you share your recipe for vinegar taffy? Thank you!
Do you still make it? My Grandmother taught me how to make the Vinegar Taffy but I’ve found the Honey Taffy to be much easier for the Grandkids. You don’t have to pull it while it quit so hot. 😘🥰❤️
That's because the info she gave in the video were wrong. That was not straight honey she used and you do not want to get to the hard crack stage or it will turn out like you discribed.
I am so thrilled you are doing cooking videos. I hope they also put your link in the comments of Route 66. Love Route 66 as well. Just barely have time to watch all of them lol
Thank you for this wonderful lesson in taffy making. I’m a backyard beekeeper and am always looking for ways to make interesting gifts for friends. I’m going to have to look up vinegar taffy recipes.
great video. Really nice to see a family doing this together and an excellent description of the details. I may just get brave enough to try this recipe. Thanks for the effort you put into this.
I grew up in a large family and we made taffy this way also, testing for doneness in a glass or bowl of water. I love honey taffy. However, I make mine with equal parts of honey and heavy cream. Delicious!
I'm going to have to do this with my Grandkids.. I haven't done taffy for years, I bet they would have a ball doing this. Thank you for bringing back some good memories and giving me such a good idea for making memories with my Grandbabies.
That taffy is beautiful! I remember my mom making taffy when I was a child but I never tried to learn and I certainly did not know the importance of putting air into the candy. What a great video sweet Adeline.
This brings back such memories!! I remember telling my mom it was to hot to touch. Yours was always so crunchy and melt in my mouth. Thanks for bringing such good memories to my heart and mind. ❤❤
Hi Grandma Adeline, my Nana had the same rule of thumb about Baking. Never make more than two batches at a time 😊! Casey is Blessed to have such a great teacher. Now so are we🐦. Thanks JO JO IN VT 💕😄
You’re at a different elevation so it would be easiest if you got a candy thermometer. But at my elevation it takes. ABOUT 6-8 at a mid high boil. Google luck 💕

Let me know how you like it 💕. Vinegar Taffy 2 c. Sug. 1/4 c. Water. 1/4 c. White Vinegar. Pinch of cream of tartar in the water. Small lump of butter. Stir well before turning on the heat then DO NOT Stir cook to a hard crack and pour onto a buttered jelly roll pan to begin cooling. If desired add a few drops of flavoring and a few drops of food color at this point. Lift edges until cooled to the point you can pull. I have purchased insulated gloves for pulling taffy and it is so very nice with vinegar taffy especially. Hope you enjoy. Tell me how it turns out 😘🥰😍
I don’t believe so, but I have never tried it. I believe as you heated the honey and sugar, the air that you whipped into it would dissipate. So I believe you would get the same results.💕
I’m not sure I’m understanding your question? A very nice size batch is one cup honey to one cup sug. Anything larger is hard to handle. But what ever size you make it is equal parts honey to sugar. 💕
I really don’t remember, but knowing what candy bars etc. we’re going for, I would guess between 10-25 cents a piece. I know I had small and larger pieces 😂😂😂

@@sweetgrandmaadeline5994 works great, just heat to 280-275, let cool to handle and pull can add a little heavy cream and butter at the end when taken off the heat if desired and a shot of vanilla, we have our own bees
Really should not touch your hair that many times while handling food others are going to eat..That was just gross to watch! But, it does look like good candy and it was explained really well. Thanks for the video.
@2:56 What was the water to honey ratio of the wet ingredient that you poured into the pot? That was NOT straight honey at all. I gather honey myself and that is NOT honey.
Also, for taffy, you have to do it at a lower temp. It should NOT be failing from it's own weight. This does not produce taffy. To get taffy, you need to force the sugars apart by stretching them apart and this is what lets the air to be incorporated into the mixture.
