this event is kinda overlooked. Still don't get how WWE missed AJ Styles' entrance
Because he's a TNA guy
They missed it on purpose. They wanted Romans face on the cam.
This was a very decent Rumble and was WAY better than 2014 and 2015. The biggest highlight was definitely AJ Styles’ debut. That pop he got and his performance truly was amazing. And seeing the career he’s had with WWE, he’s definitely had it good. What a moment this was.🙂
2015 wasn’t bad , fans are just picky and weird and everything needs to be their way or else they’ll cry if they don’t get the man they want as champ😂 I find it funny ppl would rather have an unathletic 5’10 dude who can talk cool be champ but I was always glad Roman got pushed al
I agree Royal Rumble 2016 was better than royal rumble 2014 and 2015.
@@Braze-xq6pki agree with you so much.
Royal Rumble 2016 is definitely an underrated Rumble PPV. The matches in the show is consistently good. The last man standing opener match with Owens and Ambrose was great. Becky and Charlotte had better matches, but their match was still good. The royal rumble match for the WWE title was an enjoyable one with AJ styles making his debut, but Ambrose should have won.
Triple H winning played out perfectly. Had Ambrose won we wouldnt have gotten that great night at MITB for him. Or it at least wouldn't have been as special if he was already WWE Champion a few months before
@@presidentc4 HHH really did not need this win at all because it was just clearly nothing more than a piss poor attempt of trying to get the fans to cheer for Roman Reigns as the all-conquering babyface as it was pretty much replicating the Daniel Bryan storyline only for somebody who clearly wasn’t over with the fans during that time. Not to mention the fact that HHH vs. Reigns at Mania 32 was terrible Considering the fact that the match dragged on for 27 boring minutes. Dean Ambrose should’ve won.
@@mycahjofficial I stand by what I said. That MITB win and same night cash in on Seth was perfect. WWE screwed up by ppl putting Roman and his title in the Royal Rumble in the first place. They had flipped the script with him in December of 2015 where people actually liked him. I remember him even giving a speech in Philly on Raw after he won the WWE title back from Sheamus. He was over. They then tried to overdo it by putting him in the Rumble, at number 1, and they ruined it all over again.
Regardless tho, the title could've went to somebody else if not Triple H or Roman, but not Ambrose for the reason I already mentioned. Just too perfect to ruin
2016 was one of my favorite rumbles along w 01, 2011,and 04
This was an amazing ppv with the debut of AJ Styles along with the chaotic last man standing match between Ambrose and KO and the classic Royal Rumble match for the WWE title. 2016 was an great year for WWE
The Owens vs Androse match was the match of the night.
Yeah Even Cena didn't defend the title against 29 people
Bro glazing
@@Braze-xq6pk yes you are
@@Braze-xq6pkhow is he glazing? if anything YOUR 🫵🏽 glazing him. bro did nothing but comment 😂
That's because John Cena would have buried all 29 guys
@@joseph.taylor305 I think HHH would do that 1st
Best Part of 2016 for Me is Second Half of the year. September-December Raw and smackdown were good
Summer 2016-wrestlemania 33 was 💯🔥🔥
Absolutely bring back the brand split was needed in 2016.
It proves that if Vince really wanted to, he can put on a banger show
I’m not going to pretend I was Roman Reigns fan during this time but a lot of Roman haters were honestly annoying and toxic as hell. Apparently to them you were just some 8-year old fangirl if you didn’t think he was a worse wrestler than Giant Gonzalez.
I've been a fan of Roman since 2013 and it was definitely a rough time period. I was wished death upon
@@presidentc4 bruh that's cold bruh just because you a fan of a wrestler 🤦🏾♂️
Yeah I like his character now but yeah bruh they hated the dude when he was booked by someone who has all the power and creative control and whoever wrote roman promo's back then that shit was garbage 😂 whoever wrote his promo's shouldn't even write for anything tbh.
I never really hated roman, he was just overpushed, but they blame all of the garbage on him forn stuff he can't control or change, and deem him this falsify fantasy politics power where they think he can just go to vince and ask him not to keep pushing him, thats his job, and thats his boss, his promo talked about how he came to WWE to be able to provide for his family, but then being force pushed to the top and being told you can't do your job in front of millions, and having the crowd chant to vacate you, or delete, is prob a really bad feeling that most wouldn't be able to handle, and its no wonder why roman has developed excuses not to show up, and always care about the money, as he stated he will only come as long as the money is paying good, you ask him to job, he will do it, becauses its the money he is chasing, the passion for wrestling left after that fiasco booking when comparing his fcw/nxt and shield run to nowadays or face run
L
best individual year of the big dog
it was actually one of his worst, he was voted most hated in all of pro wrestling in 2016 and won it as a face guy, I forgot the runner up guy but the runner up guy was valid for the hate too, another face guy hated very badly for a year was seth rollins in 2019
Ric flair kissing Becky was so weird and disgusting 😂
Royal rumble 2016 is a very underrated ppv
🙏🏽💯🏁🏆 fun fact, i had a concussion from the week prior and was having a hard time staying awake during this ppv but when aj came out to the his new theme, i instantly sat up and was legit shocked he was in wwe. Hadnt heard a rumour of him coming to wwe or etc it was legit shock and excitement 💯💯
it was special
@@wrestlingspremier 💯💯 that whole 2006 debate of cena vs AJ, and will AJ ever leave tna etc came to life literally 10 years later
Lord the usos came along way, i couldnt bare to watch their matches around this time
Defending the title in the rumble is pretty fucking cool
2016 is the best version of Charlotte Flair
watched this recently, underated rumble match
also i had just got back into the product so hhh being #30 and winning was a genuine surprise to me loved it
My favorite rumble match
I'm pretty sure kalisto and hunico didn't break up untill the day of the draft or the day after before he was drafted to smackdown
my mistake, I just remember him suddenly winning the title and getting a push
@@wrestlingspremier Maybe Sin Cara was hurt again
first show i ever attended
this is one of the most underrated wwe royal rumbles ever.
Could you please do a video of the start to the end of the NXT invasion on Raw and smackdown in the lead up and the finale of the survivor series weeks
They should do this now with Roman at the rumble
What timing seeing how they may do the same thing with the WHC
2016 is easily one of the best years for WWE from the 2010s
Maybe the definitive best year from the 2010s with all the talent they had
its crazy how much narratives change, throughout the whole year, y'all was saying wwe sucked, then at the end 2016 is the best all of the sudden
@@theonlygoodonehere2259 No even back then I strongly felt that 2016 was a massive improvement over 2015
Great video bro
Late 2015- early 16 roster had a fucking layers to it.I wish HHH had more booking control back in the day, bro would’ve had a field day with the Wyatt’s and Brock. Still wanted that match to happen at Mania 32.
Waited for the upload since the Livestream
Titus O'Neil even eliminated gold dust
I know DA should of won the rumble, but it's a good thing he didn't in hindsight because of his Great cash in
they teased us
I really feel like he should’ve been the one to main event ‘Mania 32. Ambrose is popularity was at an all-time high and I feel like WWE really should’ve strikes when the iron was hot. Plus his match with HHH at Roadblock was phenomenal, and clearly was WAY better than Reigns vs. HHH at ‘Mania 32 which was nothing more than a 27 minute snoozer of a match that felt like it dragged on forever. It was such a missed opportunity.
2016 overall 🔥🔥
Nice!
This pay per view will always be special to me because it was the PPV that got me back into wrestling. I had stopped watching everything wrestling related around 2010. I was hanging with some friends in the dorms and they put this PPV on. I was like "Dean Ambrose? Roman Reigns is a good guy but they're booing him? What the hell is a Shield? Triple H is still wrestling?! The title is on the line in the rumble?" It just caught my attention again.
Ok
2016 : Pre Bloodline and Braun Strowman in 2016
Royal Rumble 2016 would've been an all timer had Dean Ambrose won.
The arena would've come unglued.
Other than that, it was still fun
AJ Styles' arrival
Kevin Owens vs Dean Ambrose in a fun LMS match
Sami Zayn returns
Ko vs Sami begins
R truth bringing out a ladder in a riyal rumble match😂😂😂😂
2016 was a goated year🔥
2016 was just the best year in life if ya ask me
I like the little matrix glitch at 11:25 11:27
Can we get a messiah Seth Rollins run video???
i only remember smackdown from 2016
Man 2011-2015 was a bad time for Rumbles
The fact that Ambrose didn’t get a rumble win crazy waste
The year when Roman wasn’t overpushed
He won the WWE Championship in the main event of WM that year lol Fell off a bit in the second half after MITB because of the drug test fail but was still in the Universal title picture and became US Champ.
@@presidentc4 that’s not overfished maybe but wm but other than that no overpush
IMAGINE IF HHH WAS IN CHARGE AT THIS TIME. MAYBE SOMETHING COULD HAVE HAPPENED WITH CESARO AND RUSEV
Cesaro would have been in LA Knight’s place and Rusev would have been Gunther 1.0
Honestly 2016- early 2017 it felt like more of an sports product and AEW didn’t even exist yet
I think Vince McMahon overbooked the Rumble match. Roman shouldn't have defended the title in the match. It'd have been better if he had been in a gauntlet match. If they wanted a positive reaction, Roman should've been jumpe by the Social Outcasts and the League of Nations, be booked into a gauntlet match, survive it and then Triple H could have beaten him. The night after everyone would jump Roman and take him out, the matches with Ambrose and Ziggler would still happen and Roman would come back to save Dean. Brick would win the Rumble and at Fastlane Triple H would have a No Holds Barred match with Roman where Roman would win. At WrestleMania he and Brock could have a similar match to the year before, only with Roman having more offense early on, then he'd be taken to Suplex City and eventually mount a comeback.
I think I'll always like Ambrose more than Moxley. I think it's the look.
2016 Dean Ambrose was the best version of Abrose/ Moxley
thumbnail looks like they realised one of them is not getting a line 👃
If I were in the video-essay game, I would claim that the actual Royal Rumble match was simultaneously the best and worst written event of the era. Worst, because the main story with Roman was obvious, unpopular, had horrible camera-work, and absolutely horribly written (unwilling to be stretchered away from the match, he bravely.....walked away for tea and crumpets). Best, because the supporting stories were brilliantly done--more than enough to distract from the main story. Plus a great story for the final four, and a really cool final two.
As a sidenote, I find it hilarious that fully a third of that roster would go on to spend time in AEW! (Rusev, Jericho, Golddust, Stardust, Haper, Rowan (guest appearances) Neville, Swagger, Big Show, Mark Henry, and, of course Ambrose)
If you asked most people they don't like royal rumble 2011-2017
I like Roman from 2014-2018, i didn't always agree with his bookin but i like him more then now
I find it funny the fans would rather see an unathletic 5’11 dude who can say a few cool things be champion 💀 Roman being pushed was the best time in wwe
unlike u weird fans who are obsessed with body types, most fans enjoy the in ring work. yk the actual wrestling?
I actually enjoyed the 2014 & 2015 rumbles
first time I heard somebody say that
@@wrestlingspremier well I was a kid, and I like Daniel Bryan not no where as much as Dave Batista, and I like Roman slightly more because of the shield stuff, but if the tiles weren't unified, I'm sure fans wouldn't have been all in denial about who won
Fans hated Reigns because they felt Vince was pushing him down their throats and was behind his push.......just like the Rock and chanting Die Rocky Die.........then Rock turned Heel and all that hate disappeared....Fans hated Reigns then when he finally turned heel...they suddenly cheered him and the bloodline.........showing the fans a bunch of Hypocritic...same old thing with Fans. they suddenly didn't care Vince was behind his push.......what a bunch of moron fans can be. I liked Reigns since his debut in NXT..never hated him......that's type fan I am if i see a wrestler over the years since 1983... I like no matter if they are face or heel i stick behind them as a fan.....I don't hate them. I sure as hell don't wish death on them as the Rock got soon after he debuted.
Have to disagree. Royal Rumble 2016 was one of The Worst Royal Rumbles in History. It lead us to WrestleMania 32, which is one of the Worst WrestleManias ever. The Raws & Smackdowns after this were terrible. The Authority vs. Roman Reigns storyline was so painfully obvious that it made the Road to WrestleMania 32 abysmal.
I liked the event as a whole, would've preferred they did something different to the Roman/HHH story though
@@wrestlingspremier Agreed. Ambrose would have been a better choice. He is the Only member of The Shield to not win a Royal Rumble.
Not really, you argue who won but the rumble itself was fine
