Inspired by the original Longines Ultra-Chron Diver of 1968, the new model and its new high-frequency calibre represent the first reinterpretation of what sets Longines apart - its status as a pioneer in the world of sports timing. It will appeal to both vintage watch aficionados and lovers of high technology. The accuracy of the Longines Ultra-Chron is confirmed by its certification as an “ultra chronometer” by TIMELAB, an independent testing laboratory in Geneva. This designation goes beyond the usual “chronometer” certification.
Beautiful dive watch. Another homerun from Longines.
I just love the 10 beats per second action of the hand as it guides around the dial
its a very under rated watch that some so called high end makers would struggle to make - good to see it on your channel
I'd love to see it in a slimmer case, I need to see if they use the movement in any of there other models
Great looking watch
Yeah I thing so and tits very different to their other models
“It’s almost like a 70’s feel…. It’s almost a vintage vibe…” that’s because it’s a remaster of the ultrachron from 1968. It’s not “almost”. It is. The only negative is I just feel Longines should’ve kept the case size more faithful to the original which is 41mm or even make it 42mm. 43mm regardless of lug to lug measurements gives the dial a slightly “too large” for some look on wrist. But it is what it is. It’s still a great looking and great watch. Especially on bracelet.
I actually serviced a 1973 gold ultrachron not to long ago, you can see it on the channels FaceBook page
The color grade choice is genius.
Red accented bezel connects to the red minute hand through a smart graded dial and bespoke hour markers; A show of homogeneity that radiates subtle masculinity vibes.
In the picture found on the Francis & Gaye site, this watch on the black and red stripe NATO strap is spectacular!
I didn't know about the Nato strap until after the review as you say it looks great on that strap , I wish they included it when they gave me the watch
The Longines Ultra Chron diver is the ultimate dive Watch!
Its a cool watch and I love the movement but I'd say the Sinn UX is the ultimate diver watch, As its about the same size but even thiner and the case can withstand 12km of watch pressure Eddie
Believe me, this not even close to a real diver watch. It is the Ultra-Chron, living from it´s high accuracy and legacy. A great watch indeed.
But if you´re a diver or your purpose is diving you should really go for something else... ;-)
@@Mainswitch55 So what is a Real Divers watch ?
@@ClickSpringReview The Longines Ultra-Chron is a very fine and retro designed watch with the highlight of beeing that accurate. It is water resistant 300m... Ok... When you´re diving down there you would rather rely on something like a Citizen XL Promaster Marine. The focus of this watch is diving. Has ecodrive system, alarm for ascending, max. depth, and much more. It is a divers watch. The Ultra-Chron is a very nice watch but costs nearly 8-10 times more and couldn´t do for me what the Citizen does. Just cause of it´s purpose, so that beeing said, it is not really a divers watch. Do not get me wrong, I´m Longines Fanboy and love the Ultrachron for what it is. A highly accurate, retro designed watch that stands on it´s own and reminds on the 60´s when Longines came out with it. But I would´n use it for diving, never.
Kind Regards from Austria!
@@Mainswitch55 I've always been a fan of the Sinn UX as a divers watch , big easy to read dial ,quartz powered and the case can withstand 12km of pressure I've tested it to about a 1m and had no problems 🤣
Ps King Regards from the little old England
Thank you for a great review. Did request this watch for review a few months ago. Will add it to my collection at some point.
I remember thats why I reviewed it but I forgot who asked , So sorry other wise I would of mention you Simon 🤦🏻♂️
Absolutely Stunning watch ❤
It sure is John but not one you see in the wild
Have this watch on leather strap and I love it. I am happy they chose to skip the display back for a solid, screw down back. It was one of the selling points to me. But the Ulta-Cron of old was a line of watches... from dive to dress... I hope the do the same with this movement and perhaps a more dressy watch could have the display back.
I'm the same Silvestro something with a smaller thinner case would be great, but out of interest would you not want to see the balance wheel spinning through a display case back, I beat it would look just as amazing as the second hand on this 👍🏻
Stunning piece great review
Thanks John :) who needs spring diver when you can have high beat
Under 4K: 1)LONGINES ULTRACHRON(the best) , 2)TUDOR BB58, 3)ZODIAC SUPER SEA WOLF COSC, 4)MIDO OCEAN STAR 600 COSC. My opinion
Interesting Sir I like it for I'd go with Sinn 144 Anniversary , Longines Zulu timer , Tudor BB , Pequignet Manual , thats of the top of my head
Love this thing.
I love watching the second hand on this one I think I need a high beat watch in my life lol
@@ClickSpringReview ... 5hz is one of my collection sub-categories, and I was so very happy to be able to add a new Longines to my little family of Seiko (SLA039), Grand Seiko (SBGJ203), Zenith (Chronomaster) and Vintage Girard Perregaux (Gyromatic HF) high beat watches. I very much hope Longines does more with this or related movements.
@@silvestrocrino3256 Very very nice Silvestro you have good taste
Very cool watch - like most Longines sooo underrated by consumers. Very high quality for the money.
Very true James , I've another Longines review coming this Saturday I'm sure you'll like
Best looking watch, ever
I've reviewed many Longines and this one I'd say was my favourite for looks Nick ruclips.net/video/mWVK4CP_edY/видео.htmlsi=n-TdI--TMIYpa0mR
Looks awesome but it’s Tudor territory price … tough one . I don’t know if it’s a fair comparison but I guess tudor will keep value way more .
True but this has a much better movement than the Tudor IMHO but I do know what you mean
I want this. But i also want an Omega heritage 300. Not a sure which i should get first.
both are cool but there is something very cool about a high beat movement 👍🏻
Stunning watch but I’d like to know the service costs involved for such a high speed movement. Also I’m hearing a lot of Watch community horror stories about Longines poor customer service when things go wrong.
The servicing cost shouldn't be anymore expensive apart from instead of 5 years they may say 3 or 4 years but I'm only guessing Mr Sub
@@ClickSpringReview ... Bought mine directly from Longines and It has a 5 year warranty
@@silvestrocrino3256 If you would of gone though an AD you could of got a big discount, Longines themself don't offer any, F&G now offer this watch at almost a 30% off RRP
@@ClickSpringReview ... Not much availability or discounts when it first came out... I paid $3200 on the leather strap which is a fair price and actually a little below current retail (they actually raised the retail price at some point.
@@silvestrocrino3256 Thats fair enough Sir 👍🏻
An amazing feat with the 10 ticks per second, so it's a shame the seconds hand is just a needle. Imagine that smooth seconds hand with a lumed red arrow, or some other shape?
Take for example... the hands of the doxa army, or something bold like the eterna super kontiki 1973.
I know what you mean but I'm thinking its thin because of the hole 10 bps, a fatter one may add to much weight and possibly to much wear to the gear train
