Longines Ultra-Chron Diver Watch | A Week On The Wrist

- Every time I talk to someone in the market for a diver they’re always on the hunt for some variation of a Rolex Submariner, a Tudor diver, or an Omega Seamaster. I have nothing at all against these watches, I actually once owned the original Black Bay 58, but there are plenty of great options out there besides the usual suspects. Luckily for me, I was able to spend a week with one of those great options, the Longines Ultra Chron Dive watch.

Hodinkee does not deserve the fabulousness that is BRANDON! With that said, since joining the team I really feel like this is becoming the best version of his content! I love the synergy & this is exactly the energy the dinks needed !! Well done Brandon! Loved every second of this! 💕💕💕
Uh, what Britt said! I was coming here to say that, but less eloquently. Brandon is such a huge win to have on the Hodinkee team. Even if I know all about a watch, I still want to see his WotW segment on it.
Brandon deserves the pay and broader audience, win/win situation.
Get well soon Britt!🙏
Girl, rest up! Hope you feel better soon
I hope you're getting better soon! take care of yourself!!
I hope you feel better Britt! Glad you're still okay
I am always looking forward to Brandon’s week on the wrist videos . He does a a fantastic job from shooting to editing to highlighting the watch to being very relatable on camera. He is my favorite watch on the wrist person in your line up. So as far as I am concerned if he did everything future week on wrist video I still could not get enough. Keep the great work Brandon.👍🔥
Very cool watch. Found myself studying the Longine cases last week while getting the wife’s rings inspected. Their divers are refreshing; they’re not Submariner wannabes.
Loving the sub-10 min quick reviews with this fantastic presenter!
I own one Longines watch and it’s the Spirit Zulu Time. Looks and runs great, has a nice GMT function, the strap has a deployment with micro adjustments(and is QR). Super comfortable and has a quality feel to it as good as my Seamaster. It’s also COSC certified. I will take a look another Longines when I’m in the market again.
Same here, I love my Zulu Time.
Longines is the best kept secret in wristwatches alongside Rado. Glad those brands are lowkey cuz I can actually buy them
Currently have my eyes on the Spirit Zulu Time (green bezel, gold hands, steel bracelet). Maybe a new years gift to myself if I would finally pull the trigger
My next watch I'm going to buy is the Longines Pilot Majetek. Longines history can't be matched.
I've got the blue dial Longines Legend Diver and it's easily my most complimented watch... Longines just pumps out fantastic looking (and quality) watches!!
Just got my Ultra-Chron today on the leather strap. Very handsome watch that wears perfectly on my 7 inch wrist. The wooden presentation box is also top notch. The cushion case has an excellent finish and the sapphire bezel gleams like a jewel. The signed crown is firm with no play and it winds up like butter. This is a beautiful dive watch that is worth every penny. Forget the lame Tudor BB...get this instead.
I'm a Longines owner and fan. This is a beautiful watch. Not sure I could swing it because of the size.
The best content creator at Hodinkee. I won’t be surprised if he leaves in the future and creates his own thing. He’s wildly more dynamic than the other monotone voices at Hodinkee. Sorry everyone else 🤷♂️
Cole was also awesome but I don't think he's at Hodinkee anymore :(
He already does have his own channel
He did already have his own channel before Hodinkee hired him.
The sweep of the seconds hand on this watch is mesmerizing.
Great timepiece.
Longines have some of my favorite designs. The heritage classic sector and legend diver also look great
Love that sector dial!
I swear to god, the way Brandon describes the watches and his experiences, he could get me to buy a MVMT.
It's called an advertorial
🤣
This watch is so great. So much to love about this watch.
Exactly correct, most people follow the rest of the herd. Nice job with the review. Longines is a great watch making company with a huge catalog and vast history. Really like this watch.
Brandon, you're magic
Bought one, love it. The build quality and detailing is top notch
I would love to have this watch. I love the vintage vibe and the serious high performance specs of the high-beat movement. I just got a Tudor as a gift, which I really like, but this is the one I had my eye on. I love wearing something different and unique. Great review.
This watch is the most beautiful watch ever.
A killer. Can’t believe I don’t see more of these in the wild. Sort of has the vintage vibes of the Seiko SLA025.
Great review!
because it is $3600 for a longines. yikes.
you dont see this in the wild because it's not worth 3-4 grand. simple.
@@maxmeier532 waste of money.
Sadly true. If it was around 2k I would think about it, but for 3,6k I am going buy other brands. Same with the Speedmaster. If it still was around 4-5k I would love to get one, but for 7k? No thanks.
@@maxmeier532 show me 5 Hz movement watch in this price range please
Such a good looking watch, just a bit big. Excellent review.
Snowboarding in the Alps and reviewing this great watch - rough life! I truly love Longines these days and plan to add both the UltraChron and Avigation Big Eye in the not so distant future. Great review Brandon - enjoy the snow!
"on the fly adjustment at this pricepoint is asking a lot" - bull**** it is. Citizen and even Casio both have options you can pick up under $500 with great tool-free quick adjust clasps, there's no excuse for any watch with a comma in the price tag to not have this feature.
Longines, please listen to me. This design but in 39mm. Thanks
It looks cool on you! Certain maturity and class.
The shot next to three of the industries heaviest hitters makes me want the Longines more 🤩
Cool watch! I like the retro design language and the use of red. Wish it was a bit smaller but looks perfect on your wrist.
Gorgeous watch and gorgeous Brandon!
With my rest at 6.5 on a good day, it’s really hard to go above 40 mm. A thinner case profile can help.
Great video. Thanks Brandon!
Just wore my neo-vintage Tag Heuer Professional on NATO for a few days of deep powder skiing instead of my G-shock! A bit foolish perhaps but smiled every time I checked the time
Bringing the humour back my man!!!
6:27 "on-the-fly adjustments is a lot to be asking at $3600 price point" how much do you think it cost the maufacturer for that feature $2, $3, $5? what a silly thing to say.
Basically 8 minutes of advertisement.....
@@bigphilippe hodinkee has been terrible the past few years. except for the middle aged guy who moved to watchbox. 3600 for a longines considered a value buy? lol. waste of cash.
Hodinkee is nothing but a corporate shill. You can kiss goodbye to unbiased and honest reviews.
Hey man I know yall probably don't get into the comments too much, but I've enjoyed watching your WOTW videos. Thanks alot
Brandon here. I do. And super thanks man! Really appreciate it.
Skiing in Meribel/Courchevel is amazing!
First, Brandon is the man. (May need to work on the snow boarding skills)
Second, that is a heck of a watch for $3,600.
Longines makes alot of beautiful watchest.
another great vid, brandon. keep them coming; we love it.
Gotta tell you, this is a unique and handsome piece
Great watch with great specs and a historic brand.
I just need them to come out with a date model and im sold 🤩
Must be chilly in that studio. Fella protecting his head.
That 1930 typeface logo is hella cool
the more I learn about Longines, the more I realize my "collection" (cringe) is incomplete without a Longines.
TOP and iconic watch 👍👍👍 Longines Ultrachron
Another incredible video @brandon 👏
That's a good lookin watch.
Great Video 👍
I love this watch, but my only reservation is in the handset. That hour hand seems to disappear, and while I understand that they didn't want to add weight to the seconds hand for accuracy reasons, a stripe of lume or something to make it stand out a little more would be good. Thoughts?
Vintage ultra-chrons were much more interesting (not least because they came in non-dive watch styles in sensible sizes). They were also guaranteed accurate to minute a month, which rather puts the "ultrarchronomter" certification into perspective...
Awesome work Brandon !
Really nice. Although I love this, If they scaled the size down just a little , wow!!
Brandon, “Hey Hodinkee. I think a great piece would be you sending me to France to play in the snow and write a piece about this Longines. And fist class please”. 😂😂😂
Call me old fashioned but I'd like to see a dive watch also being reviewed as a dive watch. I'm not saying go scuba, but at least some bathtub splash time. It's called dive watch for a reason. Some people watching this would most likely buy this for diving/swimming. Nice editing - would love to see more (detailed) reviews here.
Love it already thanks again for a great review on this Longines and more, great content as always looking forward for more watch reviews 👍 great job Longines until next time peace ✌️...
I like the hour markers look like razors
I like Longines. They have an amazing history and place of importance in Horology. But, they aren’t marketed as “cool.” And, that saddens me. I want to pick one up before Omega. But… but.. Swatch: why?
BRANDON!!!!! THE LEGEND RETURNS!!!!!
this one caught my eye instantly on taobao
Brandon, there are many other brands with great divers, not only Rolex, Omega and Tudor. Give it a try to Breitling, Tag Heuer, Oris, etc.
None of which are as precise as the Longines Ultra-Chron.
Welcome to France dear Brandon
Come see us in Geneva
This guy is with hodinkee now. Ok, cool
Wanna get my hands on that for sure too. Hope you enjoyed the trip Brandon, great review as usual, cheers 🙏🏻😊
Is wintersports not bad for a mechanical watch?
For that price Longines should be an independent brand with the oldest history.
Longines has long (pun intended!) been a favorite brand of mine and this looks to be a promising entry. Btw, Brandon if you don’t mind me asking, what’s that cool looking jacket that you’re wearing in the video? Wishing all a happy weekend!
Great taste
Mido Ocean Star 600
COSC, 60BAR
Built like a tank for 2000 USD new but like 900 USD on the secondary market
Yeah but it says MIDO on the dial.
A very beautiful design but a 43mm diameter on a cushion-shape case is a deal breaker for many… simply too big.
People slagging on the lume. I don’t spend much waking life in the dark. Look at the sweep on this beauty. Fkn A Longines.
I would have hit that if it was a 40 mm. I’m certain Longines would have doubled or tripled the sales if they downsized.
And as always: thank you Brandon, for another great review.
Love from Norway
Cool review, just one comment :
6:24 Asking a lot for an on-the-fly micro adjustment at this price? Really ? Some micro/independent brands offer it at 1k or even under. Come ooon 😁
Brandon is just so damn cool.
Did the crown dig into your wrist when you fell?
I stepped away from the BB58 herd by buying the Glycine Combat Sub in a “Coke” configuration. 😅
Great watch and on my wish list but too bad the second hand does not have a lume pip. The lume on the hands is a bit poor. More lume would be better. The bracelet is nice but a little bit too vintage inspired and no on the fly adjustment is a bad decision. The movement is ace and the dial is also beautiful. Overall a very interesting watch that wears great on my wrist (I have a 8.1" flat wrist). Together with the Aviation Big eye a Longines watch that I would like to add to my collection.
What about the legibility of the hour hand? Regards
@@daviddiazgarcia3557 legibility is fine... it is high polish and beveled, so it is constantly reflecting whatever light is around
Not a Longines fan at all. But I’m here for Brandon. Bro is lit 🔥. Always.
Overall, wonderful. Only gripe is the red… you probably lost 50% of possible buyers. Stick to black and white, before explaining these colors. You add colors after a model get some traction and mileage
THE BEST =LONGINES Ultrachron
Last time I looked COSC tests for 15 days. Good review but get your facts right.
Dayum cuz lol
I pray they make this in a 39mm some day. Stunning watch
>Gets a dive watch
>Goes the exact opposite direction in elevation
you are so perceptive (and funny!). your family must be proud. can i subscribe to your newsletter?
I wish Brandon can buy Hodinke and send Ben, Kardashians and other toxic people home. Brandon is a Royalty for Hodinkee
I have Seiko Prospex Great Blue Hole at 43.6mm, it is however wear like a 42. This new diver from Longines ive got the chance to try on and man, it feels even bigger than 43mm, maybe cuz of cushion style casing and 22mm lug... I hope they would come out with the 39mm version soon for us small wrist :D (mine is 17cm)
Wondered what happened to this guy
one should not forget, it's still an ETA 2824 watch, higly modified though.
So u dont recomend ?
Brandon can sell a watch.
It’s a shame it don’t look good
1:05 💀
Awesome watch. It will be out of style in 5 years though, along with moustaches.
“You might balk at that 43mm size, but…
[me, with a 6.5” wrist: yes? Yes???]
…it fit my 7.25 inch great!”
NOOOOOOOO
Lousy noodle wristed 5” 10’ me
One less zero and I can afford it
how does this company make any money? 120 comments on a 3 month old video where they flew some egg head out to france to poorly snowboard and tell us nothing about this watch
Longines advertisement incoming.
you reviewed a diver....while snowboarding?
ok
AC3 says it’s a 💩 er!!!
Who is AC3?
and it's $3600 lol
@@Akennedy the big boy, speaks the Gospel of watches.
@@albundy3929 it’s gotta hurt!
@@bc6806 3600 (ouch!) for a longines hurts far more than 4000-7000 for an omega, iwc or tudor.
Sorry you lost me at 3k good bye
